Check Out – VUKOVI

Hey everyone, I think everyone needs at least one new band a week to listen to. This is because I always enjoy falling in love with new music, it gives me someone else to listen to, to broaden my own taste and to expand my music knowledge.

Without further ado, my selection for this week will be the band Vukovi.

Hailing from Kilwinning, Scotland, VUKOVI are future Rockstars in the making.  They’ve already had a few great EP’s in the form of Sweet Swears, It Looked So Good On Me… and singles  such as Weirdo and La Di Da, they’re a band who have great things in store for the future.

Adding to this their front woman, Janine Shilstone has this week graced the pages of Kerrang! as one of their 50 Greatest Rock Stars In The World sitting at number 49, stating she’s ‘one of UK rock’s most colourful characters’.  If their past music is anything to go by, then this is all of the band, not just her.

There’s something about this band though, they stand out, not only because of their music but the lyrics as well!. It’s a combination which stands together for a band demanding to be listen to and boy, do they do it well! If you think I’m joking, take a gander at their music video for their lead single, La Di Da which saw Janine get some personal time with a 6ft Boa Constrictor. All I know is if i ever interview this band, that’s something I am absolutely going to ask about!

Looking forward to their album, it’s beginning to be something which they can immediately eject from the likeness of Paramore  and come away from these conventions and similarities of familiar female fronted bands, where they van truly excel and become one of the best Rock exports the UK has ever seen.
