Of Mice & Men Recording New Record

They’ve only just released their fifth full-length record, ‘Defy’ in January but heavy giants Of Mice & Men are already putting together their follow up album.

Vocalist and Bassist Aaron Pauley gave us an idea for what’s to be expected.

“We’re super pumped to be in the studio with Josh, as we’re all big fans of his production and mix discography. When we decided to go heavier with this album, Josh’s was one of the first names to pop up — and I can tell you, we’re a little over halfway done and it’s sounding huge and heavy, heavenly and absolutely demonic — all rolled into one.”

Manchester Venue The Ruby Lounge To Close In 2019

Another venue is sadly going to be closing in 2019. This time, it is Manchester’s The Ruby Lounge.

The news came following a statement from the venue management themselves which was issued via their official Facebook page.

“We have an update that will finally provide some clarity regarding our future. As most of you are aware, for some time the owners of the building have been discussing plans to redevelop the entire site.

Those development plans are now quickly moving forward – see here: https://www.highstreetmanchester.co.uk

It has recently been confirmed to us that works are due to begin late 2019. And with that, due to being some way apart in our views, plans and depth of wallets, it looked like unfortunately we would be forced into closing the doors for the very last time this Christmas.

But we are now pleased to say that at the very last minute we have at least managed to come to an agreement with the landlords to remain until the very end when the wrecking ball finally comes along.

We’ve had a marvellous time over the years and as one of the few remaining independent live music venues in Manchester, have fought incredibly hard to stay open despite constantly rising costs and teetering on the brink of viability more often than seems possible.

We’re not done just yet…

Love, hangovers and tinnitus;

Team Ruby Lounge”

At the time of writing, it’s uncertain what The Ruby Lounge‘s final date of operation will be.

Can’t Swim Announce New Record

New music this year just keeps getting better! Can’t Swim have announced their latest record, ‘This Too Won’t Pass’ which will be released on November 16th via Pure Noise Records.

Frontman Chris LoPorto has said: “Problems haunt you, infect you, and in time become a part of who you are. You might find ways to distract yourself or try and forget but every time you look in the mirror you’ll only see reminders of what you hate. Evil surrounds us and in time, becomes a part of who we are. Let this band be a reminder of that.”

The first track has been released as well. Check out My Queen below.

And as far as the tracklisting looks, here’s what’s to come.

Music Videos 05/10/18

It’s Friday. It’s 4 PM. You know what time it is. It’s time for another music video roundup! I find ten of the best recent music videos and they’re all put into a list for your viewing pleasure. So let’s go.

First up is The Word Alive as they have recently premiered a track which they have created in collaboration for the League Of Legends World Championships. The Glitch Mob and Mako also appear one the track as well.

So, you know how Roam’s latest record, ‘Great Heights & Nosedives’ was pretty awesome? They’ve just recently released a brand new video for their tracks, ‘The Rich Life Of A Poor Man’ where they chronicle the past few years.

Fresh off two new singles earlier in the year, metalcore icons Atreyu have released an enhanced and insane video for ‘The Time Is Now’.

Pressing on with the promotion of their critically-acclaimed third record, ‘Nearer My God’, the St. Louis based indie rock group Foxing have released a video for ‘Heartbeats’.

Yorkshire newcomers Captives are new to the scene but they’re so new that, they have got their first single out and about. It’s called ‘Ghost Like You’ and you can check it out below.

And now we go to Poland! We’re going for some titans right now as Behemoth are gearing up to release their anticipated new record, ‘I Loved You At Your Darkest’, their first LP in over four years. Before anything happens though, the trio have unleashed ‘Bartzabel’ which see things get seriously dark!

But, before then, the heavy-hitting trio have unleashed a NSFW video to accompany ‘Bartzabel’, which sees the band conducting some dark religious ritual which gets a little horrific at times.

You can stream and watch the video for ‘Batrzabel’ below.

Up next are Floridian heavyweights, Trivium. They’re keeping things simple and straight-forward with the video for ‘The Wretchedness Inside’, which acts as the midpoint track from last year’s full-length, ‘The Sin And The Sentence’.

Time for a statement. Aussie band Hellions have released a new video for a track off their upcoming release, ‘Smile’. Speaking on the video, the band have said: “Our Director, Aimee-Lee X. Curran, her crew and our cast really helped bring those words and the meaning behind the song to life. It was a pleasure to create and we are ecstatic with the result. The little details in our hero, Danica Burch, and our ballroom casts performances were paramount in bringing this all together. Thank you to everyone involved for such a pleasant and professional experience. We hope Hellions fans enjoy the video for ‘Smile’ as much as we all enjoyed making it!”

Before the penultimate video, I do have to say I had to put these two touring bands next to each other just because. First up is The Faim who are changing the face of the Alternative Rock scene. These Aussie lads are something special but you do have to experience these tracks live because to see them is just something special in itself.

And lastly….. Against The Current recently released a brand new record. Yes, the ‘In Our Bones’ era is well and truly over and now they have just released ‘Past Lives’. Now they have a new video out for their track, ‘Voices’.

And that’s it for another roundup of music videos. Don’t forget to check back next week for another list of ten of the best music videos. Every Friday at 4PM.

Phil Demmel Issues Statement On Leaving Machine Head

A few days ago, Robb Flynn shared the news that guitarist Phil Demmel and drummer Dave McClain made the decision to step down from the band.

The two members will be separating from the line-up following their North American tour. Flynn clarified this was not an announcement that Machine Head was breaking up. Demmel has now issued his own personal statement explaining the reasons he has decided to leave the band, which you can view below.

“Thanks to all who have reached out and offered such positive support. 15 years in MH is a long time let alone the almost 32 years since Robb and I first started playing music together. I’m honored to have been given the opportunity to be in this band and I’m proud of my contributions over that time. It’s simply time for me to step away and do something else musically.

People naturally grow apart over time and it’s no one’s fault. It’s amazing and we’re so fortunate to have been able to it for so long. This last run will give us an opportunity to say goodbye as a group and have a sense of closure to an incredible run. I wish the MH camp and @alienhead65 well as we see what is next. I have so much left to express musically and pretty soon, I’m gonna need a jobber-job!!!

Hoping you’ll all stick around for the next chapter. Much love and gratitude, PD.”
