Chvrches Increase Security At Their Gigs After Rape & Death Threats From Chris Brown And Tyga Fans

Lauren Mayberry of Chvrches has revealed that their band requires a police presence at their shows after receiving Rape & Death threats from the supports of Chris Brown and Tyga.

Last Week, the Scottish Electro-Pop Trio said that they were “really upset, confused and disappointed by Marshmello’s choice to work with Tyga and Chris Brown,” having worked with him on their recent single, “Here With Me”.

“We are really upset, confused and disappointed by Marshmello’s choice to work with Tyga and Chris Brown,” said the band on social media. “We like and respect Mello as a person but working with people who are predators and abusers enables, excuses and ultimately tacitly endorses that behaviour. That is not something we can or will stand behind.”

Chris Brown did fire back at the band saying:

“These are the type of people I wish walked in front of a speeding bus full of mental patients,” he wrote. “Keep grovelling over you own insecurities and hatred. IM BLACK AND PROUD. AND I KNOW ITS HURTS THAT U GUYS ARE STRUGGLING WIT LIFE OR PEACE SO U ARE FORCED TO SEE MY SUCCESS. You aren’t even #2 (REMEMBER 2nd place only means YOU LOST FIRST! TA-TA. GOODDAY PEASANTS.”

Now, Mayberry has shared images of abusive messages she has since received, saying that the band have had to increase security at their shows as a result.

“I am not staying in my own home when we finish tour because the threats we have received have reached such a scale. We have to have the police at our shows now. If that’s what I deserve for saying mainstream music should be more morally conscious, then so be it. You’re right.”

Below are some off the messages Mayberry has received.

Now everyone is entitled to their opinion, but surely Chris Brown should be condemning these fans and their actions because this is not sending a positive message in the world of music. Music should be bringing people together, not separating us and its fans that send abusive messages such as this that damage people’s reputations and just show how destructive fanbases can be in today’s world of Social Media.

Woodstock 50 Has Officially Been Cancelled

In late 2019, Woodstock 50 was announced, a festival celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Music Festival. Rolling Stone now, however, has reported that the festival has been cancelled by its investors, citing that the festival would not be worthy of the Woodstock brand name under the current time constraints.

In a statement made by Destsu, it was “a dream for agencies to work with iconic brands and to be associated with meaningful movements…We have a strong history of producing experiences that bring people together around common interests and causes which is why we chose to be a part of the Woodstock 50th Anniversary Festival.

“…despite our tremendous investment of time, effort and commitment, we don’t believe the production of the festival can be executed as an event worthy of the Woodstock Brand name while also ensuring the health and safety of the artists, partners and attendees,” continued the company’s statement. “As a result and after careful consideration, Dentsu Aegis Network’s Amplifi Live, a partner of Woodstock 50, has decided to cancel the festival. As difficult as it is, we believe this is the most prudent decision for all parties involved.”

At least there’s one positive to come from this. At least it’s not another Fyre Festival.

Spotify Remove Blood On The Dance Floor Amidst Allegations

Streaming platform Spotify has removed the catalogue of Blood On The Dance Floor’s back catalogue for reportedly violating the service’s prohibited content policy.

The particular policy bans music that “promotes, advocates, or incites hatred or violence” against groups or individuals based on characteristics like gender, race, and religion.

The removal of the band’s material comes in the midst of allegations and an ongoing investigation incited by The Huffington Post against member Dahvie Vanity (Real name Jesus David Torres) in which he faces accusations of sexual assault and misconduct on 21 alleged victims.

The Huffington Post recently wrote an article in which the 21 alleged victims came forward with their accounts of the misconduct.

Other allegations a few years ago also resulted in Blood On The Dance Floor being dropped from support on different tour with bands as well.

At the time of writing, Torres is yet to respond to the allegations.
