Dave Grohl Emails BBC Staff To Thank Them For Times Like These Charity Cover

So, it’s been a week after the BBC sent out a heartwarming ‘Times Like These’ cover into the world for charity and being the amazing human that he is, he has sent an email to the staff who were able to make the core happen, thanking them all for their support and for giving him “the chance to be a part of something so much bigger”.

Foo Fighters own Dave and Drummer Taylor Hawkins took part in addition with members from Biffy Clyro, Royal Blood and more to support “the global effort to stay safe and stay home during the coronavirus crisis”. The cover has been climbing the charts since where you can either download or stream it right here to help push it further!

To all of my friends at the BBC,” he writes.

What a crazy few months it’s been for all of us. And what an incredible honour to see and hear my song Times Like These transformed by the BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge Allstars for – well, for times like these. The response has been incredible and I wanted to thank you all for your support.

When my manager first called and explained the project to me, I literally had to fight back tears – that’s how flattered I was that the BBC would consider one of my songs for such an important cause.

To all those amazing artists who took the time to learn and sing the words that I scribbled on a bit of hotel stationery nearly 20 years ago – I am beyond humbled. You have no idea.

I hope this new version of the song helps lift people’s spirits a little, and that the proceeds we’re donating to Comic Relief and Children In Need reach as many people affected by COVID-19 as possible.

Thanks again, for giving me the chance to be a part of something so much bigger. I look forward to the day that we’ll all be back in a muddy field again, singing our hearts out together.

It’s times like these we learn to live again…”

Slam Dunk France Has Been Cancelled

Slam Dunk France has announced that the 2020 festival will no longer be taking place.

The France iteration of Slam Dunk Festival was set to be the debut edition, which would’ve taken place on May 30th 2020.

The lineup was set to have While She Sleeps, We Came As Romans, Trash Boat, Four Year Strong, Roam, Landmvrks, Grayscale and Chunk! No Captain Chunk.

The full statement can be read below:

“Three months ago, we were more than happy to share with you the arrival of the first edition of the Slam Dunk Festival in France, which was to be a huge celebration for all lovers of Alternative Rock.

but, as you know, because of the COVID-19 epidemic, all plans have been turned upside down. We had worked and moved forward on a postponement period later in 2020, which is why this press release was delayed, but it now appears too uncertain in many aspects.

It is regret that we must therefore announce that the first edition of Slam Dunk Festival France will ultimately not be able to take place in 2020, on the 30th May as initially planned, nor later in the year.

it was not a decision that was easy to make, but it was, without a doubt, the best that had to be made, for the benefit off all.

we are sincerely sorry for those who had planned their coming to Paris during this period. Refunds for tickets will soon be possible at points of purchase.

Be assured that we will come back stronger in 2021 to properly celebrate this first edition of the incredible Slam Dunk Festival in France. This is only a postponement.

We well you more as soon as possible on this page, get ready and most importantly, take care of yourself.

Thank you for your support.

Slam Dunk Festival France”

Jim Root Working On Solo Project

Slipknot’s Jim Root has announced that he’s using his quarantine time to his advantage in order to put together ideas for a potential solo record.

Speaking to Loudwire, Root has said:

I’ve had a lot of people ask me about doing a solo project, and now I think I have a little bit of extra time to dedicate for that, so I’ve been writing some stuff that maybe wouldn’t slide in with the Slipknot world a little bit,” Jim explained.

What would I do as a solo project? What direction would I take? I kind of get all that out essentially with all the arrangements I’ve written for the last couple of Slipknot records,” he added. “I don’t know that I need another outlet. But I’m gonna try — just set a goal, maybe see if I can achieve it, type of thing. We’ve got time on our hands now.”

I would like to [start a solo project], just because I need to stay busy. I didn’t start a family, I never got married, I didn’t do any of that stuff. And I know Corey wants to do a solo project that’s outside of Stone Sour; he’s mentioned that. And unless I’m writing for Slipknot, I wouldn’t know what to do with my time.”

Root continued:

But for a solo project, I am gonna overthink that until I’m insane and it probably may never ever come out (laughs).

Obviously, Slipknot is my priority and it’s what I’m always gonna have as a priority and that’s gonna be the main thing that I always focus on, as long as I can or as long as we’re viable or as long as we wanna continue to do that.”

The news of Bell’s death broke in a statement issued via Bloodjinn on their Facebook page, which you can read below.

He was the king of all of the hot sauces. Seriously, his collection was insane. He was largely involved in our ‘This Machine Runs On Empty’ recording process, along with @machinejk76. He even had a great singing voice and will forever be heard on ‘Moment Of Clarity’. Rest in power brother. You were loved dearly by everyone.”

As confirmed above, the guitarist played a major part in the recording of Bloodjinn’s 2007 record, ‘This Machine Runs On Empty’

At the time of writing, there has been no confirmed cause of death.

Here at Almost Anything Music, we offer our deepest sympathies and condolences to Bell’s family, friends and loved ones.
