Having recently confirming the news that a new venue name would be selected by Autumn 2020, Colston Hall in Bristol took down the letters on the outside of their music hall.
In a timelapse video which was shared by BBC Radio Bristol, you can see the words ‘Colston Hall’ being removed by builders just over a week on from the pulling down of the nearby statue of 17th century slave trader Edward Colston by protesters.
A spokesperson for Bristol Music Trust has said that it is a “symbolic moment”.
They continued: “The name Colston has been divisive for many years and we have experienced strong views from both sides since our declaration in 2017 that we would be changing,”.
