New Music Roundup 31/07/20

Hello everyone! Welcome back to the new music roundup. We’re here for a roundup of five of the best recently released tracks. They’re not all within the same genre and they’re all different in some way or another but that means that there’s a little something for everyone here but come on, let’s get down to the music!

Getting us off and running are the Flordian based rockers Go Radio with their single, ‘So Love’, their second offering of material since they returned from their hiatus last year.

This also marks the first single as an independent band where guitarist Alexander Reed calls ‘So Love’ a “significant moment” in their career.

“Today is a big day. Today we released a new song ‘So Love’ into the world. For us this one became much more than just a song. This song was mostly done in the studio with our producer @jamespaulwisner in Orlando. Before we had a chance to go back and finish it, COVID happened and all plans to get back in the studio were put on pause. This song is about love and the broader message is what the world really needs right now…unity and teamwork. To finish this song all four of us worked tirelessly at our own homes tracking the finishing touches, sending them back and forth, and then consulting with our producer. This one took a lot of communication, a lot of patience and a lot of love. It’s more than just a song to me, it’s an example of how much better the world is when people come together. We need a lot of that right now. I hope this one finds you well xoxo”

Earlier this week, I posted about Sleeping With Sirens announcement of their upcoming deluxe version of their record, ‘How It Feels To Be Lost’.

That’s set to be released August 21st via Sumerian Records which will feature one new track as well as acoustic versions of the records material.

Now, I’ve loved that track ‘Talking To Myself’ so much I had to include it in this weeks roundup.

Now it’s time for a reworked version of a track.

Greyscale have been working on a new EP, ‘Live From The Barber Shop Studios’. ‘Painkiller Weather’ is the second release off this EP.

Dallas Molster (Guitar) explains how it all came together:

“Every single member of the band grew up with an incredibly wide musical palette. We were drawn to everything from jazz, classic rock, hip-hop and anything in between. We saw this as an opportunity to rearrange our songs in totally different styles and to tap into some different musical influences than usual.

“It started with our good friend, Skyler Patzer, who had written the piano arrangement previously on our Punk Goes Acoustic ‘Atlantic’ track. I had written the acoustic, bass, and drum loop parts for a reworked version of ‘Painkiller Weather,’ and then sent it off to Skyler, who then wrote a beautiful piano part to accompany what I had written. The chemistry and workflow that I had developed with Skyler was so enjoyable that I wanted to work on another song with him.”

Keeping on reworked versions of tracks, State Champs have their ‘Unplugged’ EP set to be released on August 14th via Pure Noise Records.

This features four new tracks as well as two acoustic versions off their 2018 record, ‘Living Proof’.

Here’s one of those new tracks, ’10AM’.

And lastly, we’re going heavy to round things up on this weeks new music roundup.

Alpha Wolf have stunned their audience witht he release of their new single ‘Creep’, their second single following ‘Akudama’, which is off the band’s upcoming record, ‘A Quiet Place To Die’ due to be released via Sharptone Records on September 25th 2020.

An iron will is only ever hardened within the forge, and Australia’s fastest rising metalcore act Alpha Wolf have proven they are made of sterner stuff. The five-piece bared their teeth in 2019 with the release of their EP Fault in joint partnership with Greyscale Records and SharpTone Records, it became a line in the sand that set expectations for all that would follow.

“‘Creep’ vents on frustrations and betrayals faced growing up attending and playing shows in the heavy music scene,” reflects vocalist Lochie Keogh. “It wasn’t long after first coming to shows I realised I was still in the same popularity contest that cast me out when I was younger.”

And that’s it for another week of a countdown of the best singles out in the world in the last week. Be sure to check back next-time for another round of great music videos.
