We regret to report that Brent Young, former bassist of Trivium, has tragically passed away at the age of 37.

The news was confirmed by Trivium frontman Matt Heafy on social media, which you can read below.

“We have just been given word on the passing of one of the early members of Trivium, Brent Young.

Having had a couple wonderful years with Brent in the Florida local band scene, doing the Blue demo and ETI together, the very first European mini-tour and first USA tour together – I have nothing but amazing memories of a wonderful person.

Our hearts and condolences go out to all of Brent’s family and friends.”

Paolo Gregoletto, the current Trivium bassist shared his condolences on Social Media.

“I met Brent a few times in the past, so I didn’t know him to well. But I have played a lot of songs he recorded on Ember to Inferno live and he was a big part of the early years of the band. I want to send my deepest condolences to his friends and family.”

Young was a member of Trivium from 2001 – 2004 and featured on the band’s debut record, ‘Ember To Inferno’. Prior to this record, he performed on their Caeruleus’ EP (The Blue Demo).

In 2017, he formed Blacknova with Trivium drummer Travis Smith.

Here at Almost Anything Media offer our deepest condolences to Brent Young’s family, friends and loved ones.

Whitechapel To Begin Recording Eighth Record

The deathcore five piece band Whitechapel have confirmed they’ve written their eighth record and the follow up to their 2019 effort, ‘The Valley’ and will begin recording this week.

Alex Wade (Guitar) confirmed the news during an interview with Beez for where he talked about how the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic gave them the chance to write the record despite it cutting the cycle for ‘The Valley’ short.

An excerpt from the interview can be read below.

“I definitely feel like we got kind of cut short as far as the album cycle for ‘The Valley’ goes. But we’re trying to make the best of it that we can. We had a lot of killer tours and everything lined up this year. But it is what it is, and we just kind of have to roll with the punches.

We made the best of a bad situation, and we ended up writing another album. So we’re gonna be going into the studio this week, actually, and we’re gonna start production on that. I think, truly, if we would have ended up going on all those tours that we wouldn’t have had the time to dedicate to making the best album possible, but since we were all sitting at home on our ass, we were able to make a really killer record.”

More news on Whitechapel’s upcoming record will be confirmed as they develop.

Strange Bones Sign With FRKST, Release New Track ‘Menace’

Blackpool based band Strange Bones have announced they have signed with FRKST, an imprint of 300 Entertainment which was created by Highly Suspect frontman Johnny Stevens.

In celebration, the band have released the track, ‘Menace’ which features Bob Vylan.

Frontman Bobby Bentham says:

“‘Menace’ is a cathartic release in response to the world being on hold and the insanity that came from this. We are the passenger in the car, sat next to hypocrisy with absurdity in the driver’s seat going absolutely nowhere, the road is blocked. I could also say it’s a commentary on the playing fields levelling out, when everything falls apart, you are left with your will and you desire to continue moving forwards, never back.”

At the time of writing, it’s uncertain whether or not the track will feature on a ret to be announced EP or Record.
