Today for you on todays Band Of The Day Interview we have Blitz Union, a Prague based quartet which combines EDM and Rock! Let’s dive in below.
- If you could introduce yourselves for us, who are you?
We are Blitz Union, a new visionary music project and creative force that combines EDM elements with Rock music. The main headquarter of our Union is based in Prague, Czech Republic. Blitz Union consists of me (vocals), Shodushi (guitar), Governor (drums) and Schtorm (bass). Our message is poignant – as our lyrics highlight alarming issues that humanity faces in today’s uncertain world along with a sense of urgency, whilst providing hope and inspiration.
- How did you all meet?
The history of our relationship, how we got to know each other, goes way back to the past. Initially, it was not music at all what put us together. Our ways crossed because of our common “research/obsession”. And this “research” was later on the main impulse to found Blitz Union. We will need our followers to help us out with this matter, but we do not have all the data ready yet. However, you can expect revelation of the first details soon…
- How long have you been playing?
It was sometime in 2017 when due to unusual events that happened to me in my life, I knew what I had to do. I like to say that it wasn’t like “I want to start a band”, but more like “I must start a band”. I needed some kind of a ‘medium’ through which I could share my stories, my visions. Since I love music my whole life, starting a new band was a clear choice. Anyway, the first record of Blitz Union was released in March 2019 (“Revolution”) so we have been playing together for 2 years officially.
- What three words would you use to describe the music you play?
Rock, EDM….. & Rock (Laughter)
- What are your musical influences?
We were all raised on the rock/metal bands which have been popular around
year 2000, so for example Korn, Slipknot, Linkin Park, Mudvayne, Limp Bizkit,
Rammstein, Static-X etc. The influence of these bands is undeniably audible in
our music. But we are also inspired by the new electronic, dance & trap artists who became
a big inspiration for our Union too.
- What’s the weirdest thing you’ve seen during a show?
I think it was the moment when I saw our guitarist Shodushi jumping into the crowd during our show in Braunschweig, Germany last year. When performing the last notes of our song “Deleted”, he suddenly ran over the whole stage and jumped in full speed into the crowd. But since nobody expected that, he slammed one poor lady with his full weight. She was shocked, but luckily nothing happened to her. We gave her our apologies and some of our merch for free after the show and it was all OK again (Laughter).
- Being away from the stages since last year, where is the one place you’d visit when the restrictions are lifted?
I really don’t care where, but would love to perform SOMEWHERE (Laughter). It may sound like a cliche, but it does not matter to our Union where we are performing actually. We would love to hit the stage anywhere in the world. No specific places prefered.
- What’s the one record you own but wouldn’t ever admit to owning?
I think I do not own any of this kind. But that would be probably due to the fact that I do not own many physical copies in general. But once I have some like that, I will let you guys know for sure (Laughter). There is no music one should be ashamed to listen to.
- What have you been listening in the last few weeks?
I did not listen to much music lately. Since we are intensively working on our own new stuff, I prefer silence when I am out of the studio. Perhaps, only some chill, instrumental music. Like “Twin Peaks OST” which I have on vinyls.
- Are there any releases you have planned in the near future?
We will be releasing the last song of our second EP “Not Proud” in mid-April which
will close another chapter of Blitz Union.
Then we will focus with all our force to finish our first, debut full album which we
would like to release this year already as well. But you can expect more of Blitz
Union’s music in various forms to be released throughout the whole year.
