TheCityIsOurs Announce New Record ‘Coma’

Following the release of the powerfully cathartic VIOLENT and introduction of new vocalist Oli DuncansonTHECITYISOURS announce their highly anticipated new album with it’s title-trackCOMA’ out now. The album is set for release 22nd October 2021, through respected German alternative/metal label, Arising Empire.Fans can pre-save the album HERE.

There is a palpable sense of loss that ties together the band’s sophomore offering. TCIO tackles the passing of loved ones, relationships, even personal sovereignty and self-control head-on. However, juxtaposed against their vibrant and fresh feeling, pop-centric arrangements, expertly interwoven with infectious hooks and crushing riffs; ‘COMA’ breathes a perfect balance, radiating an underlying sense of positivity and resilience through an otherwise dark concept.

“COMA is an honest account of how I was feeling trying to understand why I was spiralling into a void,” expresses TCIO founding member Mikey Page. “I wrote the song as a method of coping and catharsis. It embodies a period of self-loathing where, the love I had, no matter how strong, was not enough to save an important relationship.” Page recounts. “I wanted to produce an honest account, showing that it’s okay to be vulnerable, and to encourage others to speak up and take positive action instead of internalising them and struggling alone.”

‘COMA’ was recorded, engineered and mixed by long-time collaborator Oz Craggs (Feed The Rhino, NECK DEEP, Mallory Knox) at Hidden Track Studios and mastered by Ermin Hamidovic (Architects, Periphery, Northlane) at Systematic Productions.

Following the departure of long-standing vocalist Sam Stolliday (full statement HERE), the band unexpectedly found themselves in unknown territory. 12 months on, they are back with the introduction of new vocalist Oli Duncanson and ready to welcome a brand new era of TCIO. Oli recounts “I remember being shown some demos of some new songs prior to Sam’s departure and absolutely loving the direction and progression of the band’s sound… so as soon as Mikey told me about the opening in the band, I knew I had to take a chance!” Page adds “Oli has been a part of our team for a long time. He is a very well respected entity in his own right amongst the music scene. We’d seen snippets of his capabilities over the years, so when he registered an interest in becoming a part of CITY, we knew we had to explore…and we clicked instantly.”

Spiritbox Release New Track, ‘Circle With Me’

Canadian 3 piece SPIRITBOX are one of this year’s hottest, break out bands, and their brilliant, brand new song “Circle With Me” is out today, Friday April 30th, on Rise Records

The incredible growth with this band is laid out for all to see on this new single. Featuring the ethereal and otherworldly vocals of Courtney LaPlante, who can create and push a melody far beyond where we as the listener expect it to go. This unique and stunning vocal delivery mixed with sharp, precise and exciting production, as well as thick, catchy and savage riffs, make up the utterly unique SPIRITBOX calling card.

The track is accompanied by a gorgeous music video directed by Orie McGinness, that perfectly compliments the lyrical theme of the song with a constantly revolving shot around the band as they perform.

Check out “Circle With Me” below.

Speaking about the new track, Courtney LaPlante explains – This song was written in thestudio as a last minute addition, one of the many reasons we are so grateful to no longer beexclusively working remotely. It captures the spectrum of emotions I’ve been feeling latelyabout my music. From the anxiety I feel about messing up, to a confidence meant to protect mefrom self doubt. Visually, we wanted to present the viewer with the image of us that we missthe most: us performing on stage, with nothing to hide behind: instruments, some lights, andbeautiful camera movement.

“Circle With Me” follows the band’s two break-out, hit singles released last year – the heartbreaking and otherworldly “Constance” and the unrelentingly catchy “Holy Roller“. Between them, they have clocked up a staggering 18 million streams to date, with “Holy Roller” debuting at #25 on Billboard’s Hot Hard Rock Songs and spending 7 weeks at #1 onSiriusXM Liquid Metal’s “Devil’s Dozen” with the remix version of the song feat. Ryo Kinoshita of Crystal Lake spending 5 weeks at #2. The band have (without an album) amassed over 66.6 million streams so far on all platforms.

SPIRITBOX recently finished work on their debut album which is slated for
release later this year.

Short Stack Release New Track ‘LIVE4’ Via UNFD

Australian rock trio Short Stack have revealed their latest single and video ‘Live4’ today. Frontman Shaun Diviney shares how ‘Live4’ was the first track the band penned in their first writing sessions back together, adding:

“‘Live4’ is song is about celebrating being the underdog. We wanted a huge, anthemic song that would feel massive live. The verse all vocals with choirs which is something we’ve never done before, but we really wanted the chorus to explode.”

In March, Short Stack joined the UNFD fold to a swell of praise, excitement and surprise at their first new music after a 6 year hiatus. With single ‘Burn You Down’ and the follow up reveal of ‘Burn You Down (Acoustic)’, debuting on Australian and US radio alike, Short Stack have re-stamped their name on the world’s conscious as one of Australia’s most successful homegrown acts.

The trio celebrated their rebirth with an intimate show at Sydney’s Crowbar which sold out in a matter of seconds, and released a Burn You Down 7″ featuring the original & acoustic versions to another quick sell out response. In addition to their June Melbourne show, Short Stack play their rescheduled Australian tour throughout November and December.

Jeremy Hernandez Channels His Early Post-Punk/Synth-Pop Influences On Dreamy ‘Songs For Healing’ EP From His Latest Project EUPHORIICA

EUPHORIICA is the solo project of Jeremy Hernandez who has a past in punk bands such as Eye Ball Records’ Humble Beginnings and Fearless Records’ Near Miss. When quarantine lockdown began his current post-hardcore band Red Hymns had to put off rehearsals, shows and tours. This was the perfect opportunity to start Euphoriica and channel some of his early influences such as The Cure, Depeche Mode and New Order.

Synth washes, ethereal guitars, hypnotic grooves and emotional felt hooks make up Euphoriica. This solo endeavor started in the winter of 2020 during quarantine resulting in the debut EP “Songs For Healing,” now streaming everywhere.

“Songs for Healing” was mixed and mastered by John Naclerio (Senses Fail, My Chemical Romance and Brand New) at Nada Recording Studio in Montgomery NY.

Photography for the album cover by Frank Maddocks (Deftones, Linkin Park).

Stream the EP on DSP’s and buy the 7″ vinyl via the following link.

Check out ‘Tides’ below.

The video for the single “Tides” was shot and edited by Joseph Pelosi. Jeremy says, “We shot this video in Asbury Park NJ on a secluded beach on a cold mid-December day and 15 minutes into shooting while we were out on the jetty we were hit by a huge wave and got soaked, it was so cold and uncomfortable but at the same time a lot of fun.”

“Tides is the last song on my EP and to me this track speaks to me most. Lyrically it is about loss and missing someone.

I remember specifically writing the lyrics while on a beach in California. I was missing my Dad who I lost two years ago. There was a feeling of being at peace there, just staring at the waves and watching them flow. It was kind of hypnotic and I remember just wishing he were there with me.

I have a certain love for the ocean. There’s just a way the waves move that is so intriguing to me. The constant flow, the give and take. It’s so peaceful but so raging at the same time. This to me is a lot like life experiences sometimes bright and beautiful, sometimes dark and sad.

When I look back now at the words in the song it brings me back to how beautiful that day was but at the same time, I was empty and missing someone that was so special to me. I literally felt two opposite emotions at the same time and this is what inspired Tides.”

Zero Trust Share Music Video For ‘Get It’

The New York-based group Zero Trust shared the new music video for their track “Get It” alongside an interview with vocalist BJ Allen on Afropunk today. The track is one of the band’s dual singles released last month via Equal Vision Records in the form of a self-titled EP. “Get It” is an anthemic slow-burn track that boasts a soaring chorus led by Allen’s poignant lyrics. Zero Trust, formed as a creative outlet during the ongoing pandemic, is completed by members of Coheed and Cambria, Bulldoze, Full Scale Riot, Agents of Man, Skarhead, and more. The group of hardcore veterans collectively builds upon a hard-to-define sound, blurring the lines of metal, hardcore, and alternative rock. Lovebreakers Share New Single / Video For ‘Eye Roller’

Lovebreakers have shared a new single and video for their track’Eye Roller’.

It’s the latest release from the band’s upcoming debut album ‘Primary Colours’, set for release on 25th June.

Jack Perry (Guitar / Vocals) says: “’Eye Roller’ was written about that one friend who always seems to take it further than the others. I was listening to a lot of early Oasis at the time and I wanted to write something with few chord progressions, keeping the subject simple and my lyrics literal.

“I think me and my friends went to see the Arctic Monkeys and we all ended up getting wasted in town after the show. I remember my mate sitting on the pavement, eating a nasty kebab with his drunken eyes rolling in the back of his head.

“It’s pretty much a social commentary of what happened that night, drinking too much and talking nonsense. All of the cars were parked up with no lights on. We were just hanging around the streets looking for another place to be, but knowing deep down that the night is over.”

Give it a watch below.
