Suffolk Ambient Dream-Pop duo Amethysts have teamed up with SYNCR for the release of a new EP of remixes. Hand picked by SYNCR’s team and the up and coming duo, the EP includes four unique remixes of Amethysts’ single ‘Pressure Makes Diamonds’ ahead of its appearance on their debut album which is due November 17th.
SYNCR artists George Ergemlidze, Alex Over, Blun and BDF have all put their own spin on the track covering a variety of electronic genres and demonstrating a vast array of musical ideas and breathtaking production. From the 80’s synth-pop infused work of Geroge Ergemlidze to the crunchy, glitchy house of Blun and BDF to the bass heavy beat driven work of Alex Over, the EP see’s Amethysts work flipped on its head and totally transformed.
Speaking about the remix project,SYNCR said:
“We’re big fans of Amethysts and originally only saw this as a remix contest, but there were so many great interpretations we decided to make an EP. With all the remixes offering something brand new, it shows both the creativity from independent artists out there and the potential from Amethysts’ music – and we can’t wait for their new releases!”
Speaking about the EP Amethysts said: “We’re so grateful that SYNCR offered us this opportunity, it’s been fascinating to hear what people have done with the track and the results are amazing! It’s given us a completely different perspective on the song”
Having racked up over a million plays on Apple Music, alongside radio play from BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 6 Music, Amazing Radio, Kerrang Radio and BBC Introducing, Amethysts have gained features in the likes of Clash, The Line of Best Fit, DIY, The Telegraph, Earmilk, Atwood Magazine and PopMatters. No strangers to the festival circuit, the duo have also played at the likes of Latitude Festival, Secret Garden Party and BBC Introducing Live as well as opening for Anna Meredith (Mercury Prize Nominee) and Nothing But Thieves. Their debut album is November 17th.
