Band Interview Of The Day – Good Hustles

If could introduce yourselves for us, who are you?
Harvey on drums, Nathan on lead guitar, Will on bass and Mort on vocals & guitar, we are Good Hustles!

2.               How did you all meet?
We all met through open mics in Nottingham and became friends through playing live music. The band formed later on and we kept nagging Harvey until he finally joined!

3.               How long have you been playing?
We’ve been a band since 2018, but have all been singing or playing music since we were kids.

4.               What three words would you use to describe the music you play?
Energetic, irrestible bangers

5.               What are your musical influences?
Our influences are so varied! We take a lot of melodic influence from Motion City Soundtrack and Pup, but a lot of the chord variations are influenced by Radiohead, Tame Impala and Bonobo. Harv would also never forgive me if I didn’t mention The Killers as an influence!

6.               What’s the weirdest thing you’ve seen during a show?
Our EP release show had people on each others shoulders, fighting with inflatable monkeys and bananas. That was definitely a bizarre thing to spot from the stage.

7.               Being away from the stages in the last few years, where was the first place you visited when the restrictions were lifted?

We got back to the recording studio as soon as possible. The priority was to get that energy back and play together after such a big break.

9.               What’s the one record you own but wouldn’t ever admit to owning?
Mort 100% owns that “I’m Horny” song on CD. He won’t admit it, but we all know.

10.               What have you been listening in the last few weeks?
Harv – The Sherlocks – World I Understand

Nath – I’ve been listening to a lot of Crywolf recently. Recommend it.
Will – Nine inch nails – multiple albums by them. Also getting back into Tame Impala. Both of them are in my top 3 bands of all time.

Mort – The new album from Mom Jeans is pretty fantastic, that’s been on repeat.

11.            Are there any releases you have planned in the near future?
We just released an EP called Apes which we’re incredibly proud of, but we’re always working on the next batch of songs 😉
