Hello everybody and welcome back to the Band Of The Day Interview! Today for you we have the American Metalcore quintet based in Sacramento, USA. Everybody introducing A Moments Notice!
1. If you could introduce yourselves to us, who are you?
My name is Greg Molina, 30 years old from Sacramento California. I’ve been doing vocals for about 15 years. I grew up listening to old metalcore after being introduced to it by an old friend, I had only listened to R&B and rap prior to that. I was in a few bands until 2009 at which point I decided to join
the U.S. ARMY for 6 ½ years. Once my time of service was up I never imagined I would do music again.
2. How did you all meet?
I was in a project with an old friend from a band called Sleep/Speak named Carl. Him and I wanted to play music so badly and the country shutting down was one of those moments that really lit our drive to make music up. We had struggled with members and eventually found our drummer Jordan. Carl decided the route we were going wasn’t going to work for him and with work coming back he didn’t have the time to dedicate to it, this left Jordan and I with this project we were not 100% sold on. I had sent a video to Jared (Original Vocalist for Suffokate) of me doing vocals because I had taken up bass guitar in this project I was in. Jared convinced me to talk to Nick Miller (Guitarist of A Skylit Drive) to work with him on a potential solo project since music was becoming a passion for me again. Nick and I wrote our debut single “Silver Lining” more of a post-hardcore style something i wasnt exactly sure on but i was really enjoying it. Jordan and I had talked about the song and he was really digging what I was doing and said he would love to play drums for me. Originally the band was going to be a solo project and it was turned into a duo of him and I making more of an internet band. Jordan and I weren’t exactly convinced that this was going to go anywhere. We released “Endless Waltz” December 10th, 2021. Once we released that song, we had Zaryn Mankins, a friend of mine for 20+ years, ask to join and with him David Taylor our guitarist joined as well. Jonny Avila was a friend I had through mutual friends on facebook and he had wanted to make music again so we brought him in and that was how the band was formed. 3. How long have you been playing?
I personally have been playing music for 15 years with the other members playing all over a decade or more.
4. What three words would you use to describe the music you play?
Meaningful, Nostalgic, and Diverse.
5. What are your musical influences?
Volumes, The Devil Wears Prada, Alpha Wolf, Dealer, A Skylit Drive, The Ghost Inside, If I Were You and Memphis May Fire. Our influences are all over the place. I think that is why we found such a unique sound because we listen to so many sub-genres of music.
6. What’s the weirdest thing you’ve seen during a show?
I saw a guy in one of those T-rex suits in the pit and by far was probably one of the funniest moments ever.
7. Being away from the stages in the last few years, where was the first place you visited when the restrictions were lifted?
Holy Diver in downtown Sacramento was the first show I went to coming back. I was so stoked to be back at shows. We missed out on a huge moment of our lives and recently I just went on a tour with Dwellings who is signed to Tragic Hero Records to run merch for them. I personally need to be as involved with music as much as I could after the restrictions were lifted.
8. What’s the one record you own but wouldn’t ever admit to owning? Honestly I don’t have any records I would not ever admit to owning. Every record I do own means something to me.
9. What have you been listening to in the last few weeks?
Knuckle Puck and the new Make Believe Record from Memphis May Fire.
10. Are there any releases you have planned in the near future?
We are currently working on the record but taking a break mid record to record a music video for one of our songs in Los Angeles, California in March and after that is finished finishing the record.
We will be posting a bunch about what is happening with us. Our socials and all of our music ill be sure to make sure i leave the link.
