Band Interview Of The Day – Faded Shades

1. If could introduce yourselves for us, who are you?

We are alt rock trio Faded Shades! A bubbling kentish stew full of all things jangle pop rock.  1. How did you all meet?

Joe & Charlie were introduced by their parents since they are brothers, and Liam was a bloke Joe met on  the internet many moons ago, a website called Join My Band to be precise. They joined another band  which eventually went on to split up but remained friends and jam buddies until the formation of Faded  Shades a few years later.

2. How long have you been playing?

The band has been established since our debut album was recorded and released in 2018! It Gets Heavy  was a defning time for the band and is available to stream via all major platforms. Its a full spectrum of the bands sound and I believe still demonstrates a lot of song crafting prowess.

3. What three words would you use to describe the music you play?

God like tunes

4. What are your musical infuences?

Our musical tastes range from Australian blues slide guitarists, through to mod era british invasion and all  the way to 90’s heavy rock. We really just love the quintessential guitar band vibes. A jukebox loaded with  Oasis, Small Faces, The Who, Black Keys, Arctic Monkeys and Rolling Stones is our idea of heaven,  especially if theres a pool table and beer involved.

5. What’s the weirdest thing you’ve seen during a show?

A tequila fuelled mosh pit led by an air guitarist.

6. Being away from the stages in the last few years, where was the frst place you visited when the  restrictions were lifted?

Went to see Gerry Cinnamon in Brighton which was amazing. Other than that just the pub at any given  opportunity, we shall never take it for granted again by lord.

7. What’s the one record you own but wouldn’t ever admit to owning?

I have a soft spot for Avril Lavigne that never seems to leave. Let Go was the frst album I ever bought also, I wear it like a badge of honour to be honest

8. What have you been listening in the last few weeks?

Liam Gallagher new album and saw him at Knebworth, Dropout Boogie from the Black Keys, Kula Shakers Love In Separation is a beautiful new song also. Plus a healthy dose of Eagles since saw them in Liverpool  recently! A whole array of old skool and new skool.

9. Are there any releases you have planned in the near future?

Yes! We have recently released our song Waiting on Tomorrow and its available to stream everywhere, also on 8th of July our next single “Heartache Calling” is dropping! Cant wait. Be sure to  follow us on our social media channels to keep up to date with the action via the handle @fadedshadeband.

Thanks for having us, Joe.

On Your Nerves Share New Single, ‘Deep End’

On Your Nerves are making pop-punk with a youthful energy and passionate delivery. Today, the band announces their debut album, Brace for the Best, set for release on August 5th through their new label home, Static Era Records. The first taste of the record comes in single “Deep End”, a bouncy track that centers around young love. The video for the song follows the band making their own laugh-worthy skit show spliced between live performance shots.

On the single, vocalist Caleb Andrykovitch states:

“Deep End is a love song through and through. I wrote it about the significant moments of a relationship. The whole song came together very naturally because of how many feelings and personal experiences I had to work with. The main idea of the song is that life is great having someone by your side.”

On Brace For The Best, the band set out to not only be their most expressive to be to also channel inspiration from every iteration of pop-punk. The album was recorded with Zac Eisenstein (Man Overboard) and Pete Zen at Landmine Studios who helped the band push their creative boundaries and really hone in on their sound.

Eisenstein comments:

“I worked with On Your Nerves because I literally heard them on Instagram and was like ‘wow these kids get it.’ I was so thrilled to find younger guys with talent and an open mind. They worked so hard before and during the recording. I couldn’t have had a better time working with them and Pete. And I couldn’t be more proud of what we have!”

Julian Rose Drops New Music Video For ‘How Deep’

Fresh off the release of his debut EP, Los Angeles-based artist, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Julian Rose is back with the music video for the EP’s title track, “How Deep.”

Julian broke out last month with his 3-track debut EP, ‘How Deep,’ which he made with producer extraordinaire, Bret Epic Mazur. While many know Epic from his band Crazy Town, many don’t know that Bret is not only an artist himself but also a producer who has helped develop some of the biggest names in music (Black Eyed Peas, New Edition, BBD). Speaking about his working with Julian, Bret writes, “there is something timeless and iconic about Julian Rose, something just as bright and unique as any of the mega stars I have been involved with. The kids got it.

Constantly experimenting with new sounds and styles, Julian’s music defies genre boundaries. He challenges the expectation that an artist must remain in one singular genre, ruthlessly coloring outside of the lines with his dynamic musicality.

Miss May I Drop New Single, ‘Earth Shaker’

Ohio metalcore giants Miss May I reveal another new single from their upcoming seventh studio album ‘Curse Of Existence‘, due out via SharpTone Records on 2nd September.

On the new release, Levi Benton says: “‘Earth Shaker’ is our self description on the ones who are motivated to get themselves out of the ‘mayhem’ they are experiencing. Everyone out there has reached the breaking point where enough is enough and the time comes to make a change. Sometimes that change can make ripples in your life and redirect you to a new path, but its still forward and that’s what matters. Even when it feels like there is no where to go you can become an ‘Earth Shaker’ and make your own quake in your life.”

Slowly Slowly Announce New Record, ‘Daisy Chain’

Set to unveil Slowly Slowly‘s most ambitious and uninhibited selves yet to the world this November, Daisy Chain will also come armed with a brand new sonic palette on vivid display; one soaked in oscillating fragility and boisterous delights that pay homage to the quartet’s stylistic past while firmly linking to their very bright future ahead.

In addition to the announcement, the band have dropped a new track, ‘Daisy Chain’.

Daisy Chain, I feel, is a culmination point,” shares vocalist Ben Stewart. “It’s a story about how the strongest supports in your life can also be the most delicate. It’s about how lucky I am. It’s about growing up, accepting myself. Life is not linear; it seems for me to be this constant circular process. It’s about the ugly nature of fate and and how if we don’t find the beauty in it we’re doomed for failure. It’s about the process of turning a blind eye to the weakest parts of yourself so you never grow. It’s about hating yourself. ‘Daisy chain, stay the same’ is a mantra for me about keeping the things I care about most front of mind at all times – there is freedom in that. It’s about the golden years, being every year, from now on.”

Kicking off Slowly Slowly‘s fourth studio album, the band’s first since 2020’s Race Car Blues and its accompanying follow-up Race Car Blues Chapter 2 in 2021, Daisy Chain is a perfect entrée to raucous party-starters (Blueprint), slick dancefloor vibes (Forget You), poppin’ bops (Achilles’ Heel) and upbeat emo singalong moments (Longshot) throughout the LP’s 12 tracks.

My Kid Brother, have announced their full-length album Happy.Mad.Weird.Sad. which is set arrive on the 7th of October, 2022 on Fearless Records. Pre-order are available here.

Today, the band has shared the video for “Spilt Salt.” check out the video below.

“Spilt Salt” is a “f**k you” to the vapid social climbers of the world. But the video is a tongue-in-cheek homage to heavy metal imagery that even the staunchest headbanger won’t be able to help but love.

“‘Spilt Salt’ was originally written when I moved from Baltimore, Maryland to Loudoun County, Virginia,” says singer Christian Neonakis. “The song is about my first impressions with the new environment and new people that I met. Unfortunately, many of the first people I met were vapid socialites with rich parents and we had almost nothing in common. I felt bored, isolated, insecure, and hopeless. So I wrote a ‘fuck you’ song to the egotistical social climbers of the world and that’s what ‘Spilt Salt’ is about. Since having been here in Loudoun County for several years now, I have met some of the most wonderful people and made many truly genuine friendships. I just unfortunately met the dickheads first.”

Sobriquet Announce New EP, ‘Apotheosis’

Sheffield-based five-piece Sobriquet have announced their new EP ‘Apotheosis’, set for release on 2nd September (self-release), and released black metal inspired single ‘Divine’ alongside an intense music video.

“As the caterpillar becomes the butterfly, so too does the maggot sprout wings and take flight. Divine is a song about metamorphosis, a person’s journey of transformation into the ideal self, not knowing or caring how they may be perceived along the way. If we are indeed born in filth and sin, why not revel in all its grotesque glory?” says vocalist Ludovico Fahey of the new track ‘Divine’.

The accompanying music video, directed by guitarist Tom Green-Morgan, draws on modern art styles such as pointillism and cubism to try and convey the energy of the song through a stream of small fragments, pieced together to create a greater whole. To tie the whole thing together, an old CRT television was used to create texture and mess up the image.

Check out the video for ‘Divine’ below.

Sobriquet will perform at the following

24/07 – Tramlines Fringe, Sheffield
01/10 – Louis Marchesi, Norwich
02/10 – Little Buildings, Newcastle
18/11 – The Shed, Leicester
