Garage rock outfit Holiday Ghosts share brand new jangle-fuelled effort ‘Favourite Freak’, out today, the third reveal from the group’s upcoming ‘Absolute Reality’ LP, set for release April 21st via FatCat Records.
Marking the follow-up to acclaimed 2022 EP ‘Credit Note’, ‘Absolute Reality’ tackles different themes of social commentary, with fiery lyrics and hard-picked guitars, holding both honest confessions and tall tales, lived stories and movie-like landscapes. Bringing that warm and familiar HGs jangle, ‘Favourite Freak’ further demonstrates the band’s indie sensibilities and deep inspiration from the New York punk and the New Wave era, a theme prevalent throughout their fourth album.
Detailing their upcoming single release, Holiday Ghosts explained: “Favourite Freak is a really upbeat moment in the album that runs through hectic city scenes as well as the joy of being in love. So I guess it has a duality to it, where the chaos of the day to day is balanced by familiarity and contentment through the people around us”.
