Band Interview Of The Day – Lost Dogs Of Ultimo

  1. If could introduce yourselves for us, who are you?

Hi Thanks for the invite Im Pauli I am the main collaborator in Lost Dogs Of Ultimo I usually Play Bass and Guitar and scream a little                                                             I have also have a few friends contribute   Neil Johnson  drums and sounds  Ric Newell vocals and keyboards  and Madam Nightingale contribute to tracks over the last 12 months 

  1. How did you all meet?

I met Neil and Rict in Ultimo a suburb of  Sydney we started  living playing and hanging out in studios together working on each others projects and bands  and I met  Madam Nightingale here in Melbourne and have enjoyed an amazing creative collaboration on a few different  projects now 

  1. How long have you been playing?

I have been playing instruments and writing for over 30 years in many bands and solo projects in Australia 

  1. What three words would you use to describe the music you play?

Experimental Eclectic Punk 

  1. What are your musical influences?

I seem to be finding new music and artists every week that influences Me but starting out I was drawn to The MC5 Alan Vega and Suicide and The Clash with their Reggae vibes 

  1. What’s the weirdest thing you’ve seen during a show?

I cant remember what band it was but I think the craziest shit was an Angle grinder miked up  on stage spraying hot embers on to the audience the sound and the visual impact was incredible 

  1. Being away from the stages in the last few years, where was the first place you visited when the restrictions were lifted?

Yeah that was tough not seeing live music We got smashed in Melbourne with Lockdowns they were the toughest in the world.

I went to the smaller local venues  The Evelyn Hotel  saw My good friends The Wolfpack and they are just about to head to Europe and UK for a tour 

  1. What’s the one record you own but wouldn’t ever admit to owning?

The Bee Gees Spicks and Specs single there Ive admitted it 

  1. What have you been listening in the last few weeks?

Im really enjoying The Kamikaze Roadrunners release Can I Crash On Your Planet 

  1. Are there any releases you have planned in the near future?

I’m Going to release a double A side single  at the end of April called Make People Happy and Identity which is a reggae inspired version of The X Ray Specs song as a celebration of Polystyrene the great artist and vocalist from X Ray Specs
