Boston Manor have recently released a new acoustic rendition of recent single ‘Algorithm’. It’s a delicately lush, piano-led iteration of the track which is a rumination of the burden to perpetuate “content” beyond art, that creators are laden with these days. The original version of ‘Algorithm’ features on Boston Manor’s ‘Desperate Times, Desperate Pleasures’ EP, which was released in October via their new label SharpTone Records to critical acclaim. The EP is now available on 10” vinyl, following its digital and cassette tape formats.
‘Desperate Times, Desperate Pleasures’ marks a concerted step into the future for Boston Manor. It’s the coining of a bold, bright new sound, building upon the bruising pop-punk of their earlier work, the big moves of last album ‘GLUE’, to compose music that’s both heavier and more unabashedly accessible than that which preceded it. Hook-laden, coherent, blackly witty and with a molten emotional core, it’s the opening of a new chapter, hinting at even greater brilliance to follow. This latest collection sees Boston Manor tapping into teen influences of the late 90s – the Cardigans, the Cranberries, later-era Depeche Mode. They recorded their new material at Stustustudio in Brixton with Larry Hibbitt.

Aussie metalcore outfit Northlane have announced details of an acoustic EP, ‘2D’, which is set to be released on May 21st 2021 via UNFD.
Vocalist Marcus Bridge explains:
“Recording an acoustic EP is something that we’ve wanted to do for quite some time and felt right with the personal nature of the songs from ‘Alien’. I wanted to strip these songs back to the bare minimum to juxtapose the soundscapes of the album, a 2D version of sorts. A song like ‘Rift’ has a completely different energy in this context and took on new meaning with the recording in the depths of lockdown, now almost feeling like a cry of frustration and despair.”

Chester Bennington’s Pre-Linkin Park band, Grey Daze released their record, ‘Amends’ back in June of this year which featured a collection of tracks featuring the late musician’s re-mastered vocals from the groups largely undiscovered catalog.
The band have now revealed they are to release an acoustic EP titled as ‘Amends Stripped’, featuring raw and minimalist versions of some tracks.
Drummer Sean Dowdell has explained a little bit more behind the purpose of the release:
“One of the more interesting things about working with such a great singer like Chester, is the more you take away from his surroundings, the more you get to appreciate and hear all of the subtle nuances of his voice. He was a very special vocalist with an amazing writing ability, and it was very meaningful for us to use these different vocal performances on the acoustic version of ‘Shouting Out.’”

Cancer Bats have announced their latest EP, ‘You’ll Never Break Us: Separation Sessions Vol.01’. This is a brand new EP which will feature acoustic versions of the band’s tracks and is set to be released on December 18th 2020 via Bat Skull Records / New Damage Records.
Liam Cornier (Vocals):
“After having our road dog existence of constant touring over the past 15 years halted due to the pandemic, and with all four band members, now spread across Canada in separate cities, towns and Provinces, we haven’t been in the same room since March. While separated from each other, we thought what better time to re-examine and record new versions of 6 classic Bats tracks.”
