nfamous pirate metal gang ALESTORM set sail on a new voyage with their seventh studio album, Seventh Rum of a Seventh Rum, unveiling the next chanting anthem and third single, “The Battle of Cape Fear River”. The new single tells the story of legendary Captain Blackbeard and transports the sound of the band back in the times of classics like Captain Morgan’s Revenge and underlines that the new album is the most epic and serious sounding release ever heard of the band.
The official video accompanying the new single finally sees ALESTORM back in their trademark pirate visage, searching for treasure and aiming for adventure!

It’s time to put on your pirate hat and inflate your rubber ducks, because the world-famous Pirate Metal Drinking Crew, ALESTORM, have just set sail on a new voyage with their seventh studio album, Seventh Rum of a Seventh Rum, set for release on June 24, 2022 via Napalm Records. Pre-orders start now!
The band spent two years during the lockdown going insane and frantically dredging up the craziest pirate metal anthems from their treasure chest of ideas, and have created the most epic and serious (yes, serious) sounding ALESTORM album you’ve ever heard. From the symphonic choir-powered “Magellan’s Expedition” to the rousing anthem “Under Blackened Banners” featuring intense technical riffing and exquisite solo duels, Seventh Rum of a Seventh Rum is a real throwback to the early days of Captain Morgan’s Revenge. But fans of the modern ALESTORM sound need not worry either – there’s plenty of party mood in the aptly-named future hit song “P.A.R.T.Y.”, and the high speed, insane folk metal banger “Cannonball” has the most ridiculous and offensive lyrics you’ve ever heard in a pirate metal song (making “Fucked With an Anchor” sound tame).
Check out the Cover Art, Tracklisting, Music Video for ‘Magellan’s Expedition and Pre-Order options for the record below.
1. Magellan’s Expedition 2. The Battle of Cape Fear River 3. Cannonball 4. P.A.R.T.Y. 5. Under Blackened Banners 6. Magyarország 7. Seventh Rum of a Seventh Rum 8. Bite the Hook Hand that Feeds 9. Return to Tortuga 10. Come to Brazil 11. Wooden Leg (Part III)

ALESTORM on the new clip: “Back in December, we managed to defy all the odds and do a massive tour of the United Kingdom and Ireland, playing 11 huge shows to tens of thousands of fans, culminating in our biggest ever headline show at the Brixton Academy in London. While we were on the road, we also filmed a bunch of footage on and off the stage, so we thought we’d stick it all together into a big fun music video featuring one of our favorite songs from our previous album, called “Zombies Ate My Pirate Ship”. Thanks to everyone who came to see us during these tough times, and extra special thanks to Loretta Lovely, who performed the female vocal parts ‘live’ on stage with us. OH WOW!”

Hello everyone! Welcome back to the new music roundup. We’re here for a roundup of five of the best recently released tracks. They’re not all within the same genre and they’re all different in some way or another but that means that there’s a little something for everyone here but come on, let’s get down to the music!
First up this week, I’ve selected a cover. Don’t get mad at me because this reimagining of the track is absolutely amazing as it is hypnotic. This in their style provides a majesty to their sound which incorporates it into their unique style in a way nobody else could. Check out Palaye Royale’s cover of Tears For Fears ‘Mad World’ as the first pick of the New Music Roundup this week.
The next choice is from Not A Toy. ‘Antidote’ is a slow-burning genre slice of genius which has a bubbling bass and melody which will infect you in a way no current track does. The spine tingling vocals will only have you listing in again and again where you’ll want to visit their recently released self-titled EP again and again.
Moving to a stripped down track for the next pick this week, I Prevail have reeased an alternative version of ‘Every Time I Leave’, a track which was originally on their record, ‘Trauma’.
This version has an added bonus where it features vocals from JUNO award nominee, Delaney Jane.
For the penultimate track this week, we’re switching things into a totally different gear and heading into the world of pirate metal, namely Alestorm with their latest masterpiece off their latest release, ‘Curse Of The Crystal Coconut’ in the form of ‘Big Ship Little Ship’.
“Oh wow! We’ve all been stuck at home and incredibly bored since the release of our latest album ‘Curse of the Crystal Coconut’, so we thought we’d make a fun little ‘home video’ for y’all, to celebrate the digital release of our two bonus tracks ‘Big Ship Little Ship’ and ‘Bassline Junkie’. We even got the wonderful Patty Gurdy involved, since this song features a massive hurdy gurdy melody that she played on the record. Watch us do our normal everyday home activities, such as crossdressing, shouting obscenities at buildings, and hanging out in children’s playgrounds!”
And lastly this week, we’re heading over to West Virginia for the new masters of metalcore, Curses. The band recently released their latest record, ‘Chapter II: Bloom’ via Sharptone Records.
“For us, Chapter II is about growing and even flourishing through hardships such as loss. It acknowledges the beauty that can be found in the impermanence of all that exists, especially the beauty in one’s own mortality. The difficulties, suffering, and constant change we experience in life are precisely the things that motivate us and allow us to ‘bloom’.”
Of all the tracks ‘Toska’ stands out because of the suspense of the building of the track which just explodes into the huge sound which Curses are and with ‘Toska’ in their repertoire now, the single will only help build them up to be an exciting act when touring returns to our normal lives.
And that’s it for another week of a countdown of the best singles out in the world in the last week. Be sure to check back next-time for another round of great music videos. If you have any suggestions for me to check out, be sure to send an email or message us via the socials on Facebook or Twitter!
Hello there everybody! Welcome back to another weekly Friday post of ten of the best recently released music videos and sometimes a little information that comes with them! They’re not all within the same genre and they’re all different in some way or another but that means that there’s a little something for everyone here but come on, let’s get down to the music (videos)!
The first choice of the week in today’s countdown is the progressive metal trio Spiritbox who have their second single of the year in the form of ‘Holly Foller’. At the time of writing, it’s uncertain is the track will feature on a forthcoming EP or full length record.
Seconds up today are the Las Vegas trio Palaye Royale. Their recent record, ‘The Bastards’ dropped via Sumerian Records and their latest video for ‘Anxiety’ is off the aforementioned record.
Now if this is anything to go by, the lockdown is really getting to Luke Rainsford. With his latest EP, ‘World Of Colour’ fresh into the world via Scylla Records, the video for the choice of single is ‘Lack’.
Moving to the Scottish lands of Glasgow, the up and comers Layaway premiered a video over on Discovered Magazine last week. The video is from footage shot by the band at home and footage from the road as well as in the studio plus some of their fans footage as well! Check out ‘Until Then’, below.
Keeping with the Scottish bands for at least one more track, we have the Aberdeen quartet (in a break from the quintets today) Cold Years. Their video for ‘Too Far Gone’ is taken off their upcoming release, ‘Paraside’.
On the track, Ross Gordon, the band’s frontman says:
“‘Too Far Gone’ came from being in a pretty bad place, not knowing what the future was going to hold and being alone. I’d pushed partying too hard and I felt like I was just wasting my time. You get to that point where you just give up trying because everything falls to shit regardless. We come from a small town and I couldn’t stand to be in the same room as all the same people, I just wanted to be alone and didn’t want to talk to anyone.
I needed to release all those emotions from everything that had happened to me up until that point, I guess you have to write these kinds of songs, being in this band is a cathartic process for all of us. I’ve always felt like a lot of the songs on this record were about things that were gonna come in the future, this song was me looking deep into how I was feeling at the time and using it to escape.”
How about some Pirate Metal now? Some Scottish Pirate Metal? Now you’re interested!
The legends of the scene known as Alestorm have a new and crazy animated video for their one minute and a half track, ‘Shit Boat (No Fans)’.
The track is off their recently released record, ‘Curse Of The Crystal Coconut’.
On the track, the band have said:
“Oh wow, everyone knows that short songs are the best songs, so naturally we had to make a music video for the shortest song on our album. This animation was put together by the lovely people at RMIT University in Melbourne, and it features all the classic elements of an Alestorm video: Magical Girl transformations, giant Hungarian men dropping turds on your garden, rubber ducks, and crudely drawn cartoon penises. Enjoy!”
Heading to the Post- Hardcore genre now, we have the Californian Quintet, Thousand Below with not a recent video, but a video off their 2019 effort ‘Gone In Your Wake’. The track in question? ‘171 xo’.
Moving across to Australia for the ever growing Glass Ocean, the band have shared ‘Bolero’ which is off their soon to be release debut record, ‘The Remnants Of Losing Yourself In Someone Else’ set to be released in August with Wildthing Records.
Next, Co-directed remotely with Alan Del Rio Ortiz, ‘Every Tradition’ is Bully’s latest cut off the third full length record, ‘Sugaregg’ for release in August via Sub Pop.
On the release, Alica says:
“After we tested out this method (me shooting alone at my house and sending the footage to Alan to edit and put everything together) with ‘Where to Start’ I liked it so much I wanted to do it again and trusted Alan to turn my mess into a well put together music video. Surprisingly I was a lot more comfortable on my own as opposed to having a crew of people there like there has been for past music videos. I also have a newfound appreciation for any cinematographer because god damn it’s a lot of work.”
Of the song, she adds: “‘Every Tradition’ is one of the most literal songs on the record, forcing myself throughout the writing process to cut out the bullshit and put down on paper exactly what was going through my mind, silencing the paranoia of the different ways it could be received. Some songs just call for that sort of process and ‘Every Tradition’ was one of them.”
And lastly this week we have the growing talent, the badass hardcore hitters whom have a brand new record, ‘Transitional Forms which should take them to new heights and bigger touring houses when we’re out of lockdown, it’s only Pure Noise’s Sharptooth.
The video which they’ve released this week is ‘Evolution’ which also features the storming guest vocals from Anti-Flag’s Justin Sane.
And that’s it for another week of a countdown of the best singles out in the world in the last week. Be sure to check back next-time for another round of great music videos. If you have any suggestions for me to check out, be sure to send an email or message us via the socials on Facebook or Twitter!

We’re back for another week! We have another roundup of ten music videos which have been recently released and they’re always some of my favourites! They’re not all within the same genre and they’re all different in some way or another but that means that there’s a little something for everyone here but enough talk, let’s get down to things.
First up is The Used in a video dedicated to the frontline workers who are tirelessly working through the Covid-19 pandemic. The band have compiled the submissions in the track ‘The Lighthouse (Feat. Mark Hoppus).
On the track, Bert McCracken says:
“Doubt can be an avalanche”. “It can cascade out and infect everything it touches. Inspiration is also infectious. The original chorus lyric was ‘I can’t be your lighthouse’ until I was reminded by my six-year-old daughter that I can be and I am. It helps to remember that we all have the capability to inspire someone in our own way. Please enjoy our song The Lighthouse as much as we do.”
“I’ve been friends with The Used for a long time and was stoked to be invited into the studio with them,” adds Mark. “The Lighthouse is one of those songs that came together very quickly, with everybody excitedly throwing ideas around. What emerged from the session is a track we’re all very proud of, and I hope everyone likes it as much as we do.”
Next up are The UMA. Dan Jones (Guitar) has had the following to say on the track:
“Wake Up is a song for any moment. Whether you’re sad, happy, angry, confused or just having a moment, it lifts and separates you from everything that’s going on around you. Lyrically, the songs just one big emotional juxtaposition and we’ve tried to capture that throughout the video.”
We’re moving into the realm of Pirate metal for this video in Alestorm. ‘Fannybaws’ is the latest cut off their upcoming release, ‘Curse Of The Crystal Coconut’
On the release of the video, the band have said:
“Oh wow! The history of Scotland is full of tales of mighty pirates, and none were as feared as the legendary Phann’aig Bhall (otherwise known as “Fannybaws” in Lowland Scots). I hope we’ve done his epic seafaring legacy justice with this song, and we hope you all enjoy singing along with it. Meet yer dad and smell yer maw!”
Moving off to Indianapolis for the up and comers The Wise Man’s Fear for their upcoming release, ‘Valley Of Kings’.
Tyler Eads (Vocals) has said:
“‘What Went Wrong’ sheds light on the inner dialogue of struggling with self-doubt and anxiety. Relationships become damaged and coping with temporary distractions ends up making it more difficult to find true solace. It’s a reflection on the different paths we take in life that pull us away from the people we love.”
Hardcore kings Stray From The Path have a brand new video which they’ve recently debuted in the form of ‘Beneath The Surface’, which is lifted from their 2019 LP, ‘Internal Atomics’.
In addition to the release, the video was directed by the band’s bassist, Anthony Altamura!
Changing things to go with he many genre’s we’re covering this week, we have the Rap Metal masters in Body Count with guest vocals from Riley Gale of Power Trip.
The entire music video was shot entirely by each of the members of the band on their phones in quarantine and edited by Itchy House Films’ Jay Rodriguez.
Next, we have the band Dream Wife. In addition to announcing a 2021 UK tour, the trio have released their follow up to the singles, ‘Sports!’ and ‘Hasta La Vista’ in the form of ‘So When You Gonna…’.
On the release, they’ve said:
“It’s a dare, an invitation, a challenge. It’s about communicating your desires, wholehearted consent and the point where talking is no longer enough. It promotes body autonomy and self-empowerment through grabbing the moment. The breakdown details the rules of attraction in a play by play ‘commentator’ style, inspired by Meat Loaf’s ‘Paradise by the Dashboard Light’.
“For the video for we worked with our favourite elf prince Aidan Zamiri who filmed around a free sweaty, sexy, gig we did for ours fans back in January – shot as a first person POV from the inside of a mouth. Performing live is the beating heart of this band and we miss it, so please take this video as a little love letter to the rock show.”
Jetting off to New Zealand now for Ulcerate. They have a video which was directed by Graphic Designer Dehn Sora’. This is off their recently released record, ‘Stare Into Death And Be Still’ which is out now via Debemur Morti Productions’.
Second to last on this weeks music video list we have the multi-platinum Danish Hard Rock band, Voltbeat.
In a new animated video of ‘Leviathan’, this is the latest single to be taken off their seventh record, ‘Rewind, Replay, Rebound’. The video, which is based on a painting by Karsten Sand which originally appeared in the album’s artwork.
And lastly, we have the king. We have the singer/songwriter Jamie Lenman who’s released a video for ‘The Road To Right’. The track premiered on Daniel P. Carter’s BBC Radio 1 show and is set to be on the upcoming mini record, ‘King Of Clubs’, to be released in September via Big Scary Monsters.
