Angels & Airwaves Finish Work On Their Sixth Record

California’s Angels & Airwaves have confirmed the news that they have officially finished their long-awaited sixth record and the follow-up to their 2014 release, ‘The Dream Walker’.

Tom DeLonge shared the news via Instagram, which you can check out below.

“This is me at this exact moment, suddenly retired to my bed with a bit of time on my hands, because I just finished and handed in the new Angels & Airwaves album after a long, and emotionally challenging 3-year journey to try and make an album that could stand out as a special moment in my musical career. I’m kinda excited, are you?”

In addition to this, Angels & Airwaves have also launched ‘Project Dreamland’ which at this moment asks for fans to sign up and subscribe for access.

More details on this will be confirmed as they develop.

Tom Delonge: “This Angels And Airwaves Record Has Been Three Years In The Making”

In an Instagram post, Tom DeLonge has given an update on the upcoming Angels & Airwaves record.

DeLonge has revealed that he has sent five songs off to be mixed and soon another five will be sent over to close out the creation.

“What a great day. Sending 5 songs off to be mixed- the final stage in a songs evolution from the birth of the idea, to over 100 tracks diligently crafted with sounds, passion and goosebumps. Soon, another 5 songs will be sent over in the next couple weeks to close out this chapter. This @angelsandairwaves album has been 3 years in the making, and it’s our best yet. Thank you for all your patience, support and love.”

New Music Roundup 03/07/20

First things first, I do apologise that there was no new music or music video post last friday! Since lockdown has lifted the restrictions on shops in the UK, it meant that I was back at work and because a few team members from my shop couldn’t come back yet, I stepped up and took on their hours to help out my store.

And now, We’re back for a roundup of five of the best recently released tracks and sometimes a little information that comes with them! They’re not all within the same genre and they’re all different in some way or another but that means that there’s a little something for everyone here but come on, let’s get down to the music (videos)!

First up this week are the 2020 anthemic kings known as Angels & Airwaves who’ve got a new single titled as ‘All That’s Left Is Love’, which comes off their upcoming TBC sixth record.

Tom DeLonge had the follow to say on the record.

“We never appreciate the connection we have with others until it’s gone, and although we may not be able to change this first part of this story, we can for sure change the ending.”

Check out ‘All That’s Left Is Love’ below.

Up next, we have the Like Pacific. The track, ‘Hands Tied’ have an unreleased B-side from their 2016 record, ‘Distant Like You Asked’ for everyone to enjoy. The track also features Comeback Kids ‘Andrew Neufeld lending vocals for the track.

“This song was crazy when we recorded it. It was wild to have Andrew Neufeld on a track. I must have listened to ‘Wake The Dead’ and ‘Broadcasting…’ all through high school. I’m glad it’s seeing the light of day. I was probably the angriest I was when recording ‘Distant Like You Asked’. After the death of my grandmother and a manipulative ex, it definitely was an abrasive one.”

Time for something a little more tifftastic now. Their debut record, ‘Internal Incarceration’ is set to drop in a few months times but until then we have the phenomenal ‘Manipulation Artist’.

‘Manipulation Artist’ is a swirling mass of razor wire riffs and bludgeoning breakdowns that the band say is about “questioning your own sanity while you are trapped in a cycle of abuse from a manipulative, toxic partner. One day of happiness overshadows the pain until it starts all over again.”

Moving into heavy territory we have the Hamilton based Counterparts. The band released their latest record, ‘Nothing LEft To Love’ last year and now, there’s some brand new B-Sides from the record which didn’t make the cut.

The two tracks are called ‘Purer Form Of Pain’ and ‘Strings Of Separation’ so I’m going to flip a coin for which to post this week. The winner? ‘Strings Of Separation.

Brendan Murphy (Vocals) explains:

“One person’s trash is another person’s treasure… so here’s two more b-sides I guess? We wrote these songs when we were in the process of recording ‘Nothing Left To Love’ and for whatever reason, they just didn’t fit the vibe of the album so we decided to cut ’em. Since you guys seemed pretty stoked on the ‘Private Room’ EP, we figured why not just throw these up? At the very least, it’ll occupy like 5-10 minutes of your time… and who knows when the five of us will even be able to cross the border to be in the same room and record more music? You might love them, you might think they stink, either way it’s all good by me. They’re b-sides! Who gives a shit?”

And now time for some British heavyweights. Whilst being all alone in isolation, Bring Me The Horizon didn’t sit around. They’ve been writing and recording where the first track of those sessions, ‘Parasite Eve’ got unleashed into the world last week.

Originally intended to be released June 10th 2020, it was postponed due to the Black Lives Matter movement and protets, where they state they “don’t feel comfortable released and promoting anything that takes the focus off what’s important right now.”

Frontman Oli Sykes had the following to say on the track.

“‘Parasite Eve’ came from an idea to write a survival horror song, but as the pandemic started to develop, the parallels were so similar it felt so close to the bone we decided to shelve it. As time went on, we started to feel how relevant it was and that instead of shying from it, that we should address the dark side, embrace it and process what’s going on… ‘Parasite Eve’ is our message of hope, wrapped in sadness and anger.”

And that’s it for another week of a countdown of the best singles out in the world in the last week. Be sure to check back next-time for another round of great music videos. Music Video Roundup 10/05/2019

It’s 4PM and it’s Friday! This means it’s time for the music video roundup. If you’re new to either the blog or these music video roundup posts, this is how it works. Every week, I watch some of the best recently released music videos and compile them into a list for everyone’s viewing pleasure. They’re span across all the different genres, so expect something different for most of the tracks. First up is up and coming artist Kim Jennet who has a video for her new single, ‘Unbroken’ which comes off her upcoming yet to be announced solo record.

Up next are the Pennsylvanian metal band Motionless In White. They have a haunting new video for ‘Disguise’, which is the title track of their upcoming full-length fifth record. Warning! It isn’t for the faint-hearted.

Shifting to the Punk and Electro project BAIT, there’s a video which has recently been released for the track, ‘DLP’.

“BAIT isn’t just music, it’s ventilation, it’s expression through art. We all have a voice and this one speaks from the guy in broken English. I record my own music, I edit my own videos, I design my own covers and I work with people I love and respect… because I have to and because I want to.’

Shifting the focus to metalcore, Polar have some satanic force for ‘Devil’, a new cut from their latest record, ‘Nova’. The track is about the liars and cheats the plague our lives”, sees a seemingly invisible character walking the streets and bringing out the worst in the people that he passes. Let’s have a look.

London based Punks Petrol Girls have a teaser for their upcoming record, ‘Cut & Stitch’. The track and video are both in collaboration with the Solidarity Not Silence organisation. Ren Aldridge (vocals) has said:

“Thematically, ‘Big Mouth’ follows on from our previous single, ‘The Sound’. But it focuses in on voice as a physical sound that comes directly from our bodies, and also more generally as self-expression. There’s a lot of politics around who is heard and what that means, and many marginalised groups are only tolerated when they’re quiet. When they refuse this containment and control, they’re met with attempts to silence them. Just one example of this is the defamation case which aims to silence the Solidarity Not Silence girls – a group of women who each separately spoke out against the behaviour of a man in the music industry. Whilst the case is ongoing, we are limited in what we can say about it, but encourage everyone to spread the word and donate to the crowdfunding campaign for their legal costs. They are determined to not allow their case to set a precedent for silencing marginalised voices in the music industry and beyond. There’s no legal aid for this kind of case – they need money to pay for their legal representation in order to pursue justice. You can get a Solidarity Not Silence t-shirt, as worn by Joe in the ‘Big Mouth’ music video.”

Next, I have to write about this one. It’s been everywhere. Yes, it’s the Taylor Swift and Brendon Urie collaboration, ‘ME!’. I had to post this one, come on, don’t hold it against me.

Rumours circulated ahead of the release with Brendon sharing:  “Wait. This really happened?! Like for real?!?! Well I can’t begin to describe how incredible it has been to work on this song and video. So I will simply say: Thank you Taylor Swift for allowing me to be a part of your beautiful story. So much fuckin love and respect.”

Check out the video below.

Now, it’s been three years since Angels & Airwaves released their first piece of new music, and that was their 2016 EP, ‘Chasing Shadows’! Now, that is a long while! Their new single ‘Rebel Girl’ is out now and it’s off their upcoming full-length record. On the track, Tom DeLonge has said:

“’Rebel Girl’ is a space-age love song that combines my enduring obsession for New Wave, pop punk and anthemic rock and roll music… As some of you might’ve heard, I recently took a brief minute to start up an aerospace company, so you never know – I may play this song from a satellite deep in space, beamed toward everyone’s house viciously on repeat.”

Blessthefall has some live performance which are turning out to being legendary apparently, but they’re just stepping up everything as a band if this new video for ‘Welcome Home’ is anything to go by, we know everyone loves a good taste of the Pheonix metalcore group!

New Years Day are well and truly back! They’ve recently dropped their new video for ‘Shut Up’, which has some similarities to American Psycho, because of course! I mean, it’s New Years Day. Would we expect anything less from them?

Speaking on the video, Ash Costello has said:

“When we recorded the song ‘Shut Up’ I knew right then and there, on that day, straight away, what I wanted to do if we were ever to make a music video for it. It came to me immediately. So when the time came and ‘Shut Up’ was chosen for a music video, I was thrilled because it meant that I’d get to make my vision come to life, which was to recreate one of my favourite horror movies of all time, ‘American Psycho’”.

I had to save this for last. The well-dressed German masters Rammstein are legendary, aren’t they? Everything seems turned to eleven when they release something, as if it’s a huge day because of that release. And that’s just what this video is for our last pick of the music video roundup.

Check out ‘Radio’ below.

And that’s it for another week of music video roundup. Don’t forget to check back next week at 4PM sharp for another countdown of ten of the best recent music videos to feast your eyes upon. There’s also new posts every day on the Almost anything Media so be sure to check out anything that might catch your eye.
