The first trailer for Paradise City, the spin off TV series of the film American Satan has landed. The series features Black Veil Brides’ Andy Biersack and Asking Alexandria’s Ben Bruce showing off their acting chops – is based on “the lives of a rock star with ties to the occult and a young rookie kid who idolises him collide through their broken homes built by the music business”.
The series is set to premiere on Amazon Prime Video in March.
Creator, writer and director Ash Avildsen (who also founded Sumerian Records) reveals of Paradise City in a director’s note: “More than one in four American kids grow up without a father in their home.
“For kids that grow up with one parent, you can go on one of two paths: you can blame the world, your parents, blame God, blame lack of God, or it can light a fire under you that you’re gonna make it no matter what. Paradise City is the show made to inspire these millions of teenagers and young adults. It reminds us that there is no light without darkness, that sorrow and heartbreak can be the greatest drivers of art. It reminds us that there is always hope, that you are never alone and that music is always there if you let it be.
“Almost everything in Paradise City is inspired by real events I have experienced growing up in an unorthodox single mom household as a kid estranged from his famous father and then my adult life becoming self-made in the ruthless music industry. Supernatural elements that have guided and misguided my life ever since moving to Los Angeles are also prevalent throughout the tale.”
Joining Andy and Ben in the star-studded show are fellow rock and metal artists like Slipknot’s Sid Wilson, Lamb Of God’s Randy Blythe and Sleeping With Sirens’ Kellin Quinn, while other members of the cast include Cameron Boyce, Bella Thorne, Drea De Matteo, Mark Boone Jr, Fairuza Balk and BooBoo Stewart.
Hello there and welcome back! We’re here for a roundup of five of the best recently released tracks and sometimes a little information that comes with them! They’re not all within the same genre and they’re all different in some way or another but that means that there’s a little something for everyone here but come on, let’s get down to the music (videos)!
First up this week are the Hard Rock quintet Asking Alexandria whom have shared an acoustic version of their track, ‘Antisocialist’, which is off their latest release, ‘Like A House On Fire’.
In this version of the track, they’ve released an unplugged take of the track where each member performs their part from lockdown!
Moving to the British Pop-Rockers in the form of Hot Milk next. This is the third stand-alone single since the band’s release of their ‘Are You Feeling Alive?’ EP where at the time of writing, it’s uncertain whether or not this will remain a stand alone single or if it’ll feature on a future release.

Protest time now? This is inspired by the recent Black Lives Matter movement where Pussy Riot have a new track titled as ‘Riot’.
The track also takes inspiration from the recent incarceration of the band’s own Peter Verzilov due to his alleged involvement of organising the riots in Russia last year.

and moving away to something a little more in the alternative territory within Canada, the alt quintet Rarity have the first material since their record, ‘The Longest Lonesome’ last year in the form of ‘Leave It Alone’.
On the track, the band say:
“What I take away the most from ‘Leave It Alone’ is what a testament it is to the band – long time friends – coming together, having fun and writing (in my opinion) one our most exciting tracks. We thought the song had immediate live energy, written specifically for our return to Europe this spring. The lyrics came together in one night, putting together a story from ideas jotted down in my phone. Touring has of course been put on hold due to the pandemic, but me and the rarity camp are eager for that green light – the go-ahead – ready for that first night we get to rip ‘Leave It Alone’ live for everyone.”
And lastly this week, we have the latest release from New York’s Evanescence in the form of ‘The Game Is Over’, which is the second track to be released off of their upcoming, ‘The Bitter Truth’ record.
Amy Lee on the track has said:
“This song is about being sick of the facade. The disguises we wear for others to make them feel comfortable, the inside feelings being so different than what we show on the outside to fit within the boundaries of what’s socially acceptable, or what’s not going to make you unpleasant or too ‘weird’ to be around.
‘The Game is Over’ is a promise to myself and out loud that I’m going to be more of my real, inner self on the outside–not lock her up because she can’t be contained anymore. It’s also a prayer to become better, to not feel so messed up, locked up, and hurt inside.”

We’re back for another week! We have another roundup of ten music videos which have been recently released and they’re always some of my favourites! They’re not all within the same genre and they’re all different in some way or another but that means that there’s a little something for everyone here but enough talk, let’s get down to things.
First up this week coincides with the recent release of her solo debut record, ‘Petals For Armor’, it can only be Hayley Williams. The track in question today is ‘Dead Horse’.
The video for ‘Dead Horse’ was directed by HalfNoise frontman and Paramore drummer, Zac Farro.
Next up we have the British Emo / Pop-Rock musician Luke Rainsford. He’s got a new cut in the form of ‘Tip Toe’, where the video complies fan-submitted content.
On the track, Luke has shared:
“‘Tip Toe’ is about the honeymoon stage of a relationship. I think sometimes with how the world is, it is easy to focus on how tough life can be, but there are the little moments of happiness to be found within the smallest of gestures. I wanted to reflect that in the video, having fans send in clips expressing themselves, their creativity and having fun. I think the world needs that right now.”
Now, moving across to Wales for the next pick this week, we have the Pop-Punk trio in Junior.
Over the next weeks, the band will be releasing a series of covers, including Boston, Thin Lizzy, Death Cab For Cutie, and Alkaline Trio. All covers have been self-produced by Matt Attard of JUNIOR.
Their new video accompanies the track, ‘Where And When’ which is off their full-length record, ‘Beautiful Life’.
Keeping in the realm of the Pop-Punk genre, Aussie rockers Stand Atlantic have released a brand new track this week, ‘Wavelength. This is the third track in their line of releases following on from their debut record, ‘Skinny Dipping.
Bonnie Fraser has said this about the track:
“We wanted to push the boundaries with ‘Wavelength’. The song itself is about pushing your own boundaries and trying to assimilate with someone. Sometimes communication is lost to a point where it feels like you are speaking different languages. Music is its own language and we wanted to challenge everything you thought you knew about Stand Atlantic. The entire record is no exception.”
Moving straight across the pond to Bournemouth for the alternative group Laika who have a new release which is also the bands first offering of new material this year with ‘Our Vices’.
How about some math-rock next? Yeah, you saw it Math Rock!
The Californian rockers Covet have a track which is the second offering from their upcoming record, ‘Technicolor’.
This also marks the first track to come from the band which features vocals and not entirely be instrumental.
Yvette Young (vocals) shares what the track, ‘Parachute’ means to her.
“This track, ‘Parachute’, is really special to me. I remember I wrote it basically in one sitting and immediately I heard that it needed lyrics. My whole rule for writing is to never rule anything out, as long as it serves the music… so here we are, at Covet’s first departure from being instrumental. The song is about taking a risk for yourself and stepping away from something or something that once made you feel safe, only to realise that you never needed any of it in the first place. We hope you enjoy it and that it uplifts you.”
We’re all over the places this week and our next stop? Ukraine. We’re going with Jinger and their release for ‘Noah’. This is the fifth single off their upcoming release, ‘Marco’.
On the track, Eugene Abdukhanov (bass) has said this on the track.
“Tatiana wrote ‘Noah’ from the point of view of what if he did not succeed in perpetuating life on Earth? Looks like we might find out sooner than we think! Times are scarier, tougher, and stranger than ever. Our/your livelihood and everything we know and cherish are on the verge being swept away by a storm like nothing we’ve faced before. Will we have our own modern day Ark? Will we manage to jump on board in time or has it already set sail? What will be left over after it’s all said and done? These questions are torturing all of us right now and the future is disturbingly uncertain. But we will survive and will get through this, like we did during so many dark times before. Together. Strong and revitalised with a much better understanding of what we are.”
Now for some pounding drummer, fantastic vocals and the best beats. This is Texans metallers Kingdom Collapse who reach new heights with ‘Uprise’.
Jonathan Norris on the track says:
“We’re excited to release the new single at this time with everything going on in the world. With what we’ve all endured globally with the recent pandemic, this is an anthem assuring the fact that we will not only recover but we will rise even stronger.”
Keeping in the same country for the penultimate band on this weeks list is Ded. They’re an Arizona outfit who’ve released ‘A Mannequin Idol (LUllaby)’ which is the latest single coming off of the band’s recently released EP, ‘Mannequin Eyes’.
“[The song is] kind of taking a shot at the music industry,” Cotela explains. “[It’s about] the way consumers consume, and questioning why they consume what they do, why they identify with certain things, [and] hopefully posing those questions for people to think about themselves.”
And lastly today we have the almighty Asking Alexandria.
The band released their latest record, ‘Like A Gouse On Fire’ today via Sumerian Records but earlier this week to hype up the release, they put together a video together during where they shot everyone individually due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. The track they released? ‘House On Fire’.

It’s 4PM on a Friday! This means it’s time for the music video roundup. If you’re new to either the blog or these music video roundup posts, this is how it works. Every week, I watch some of the best recently released music videos and compile them into a list for everyone’s viewing pleasure. They’re span across all the different genres, so expect something different for most of the tracks. Up first in this weeks roundup are New Zealand based heavy metal trio ‘Alien Weaponry’. The video for ‘Blinded’ is the B-side to the ‘Ahi Ka’ 7″ single.
On the track, vocalist Lewis De Jong shared:
“The song has very personal meaning for me, but we wanted the video to leave things more open, so people can interpret it their own way. Piotr and Dwayne have really captured the notion of altered realities that we were going for, and we hope people will find their own messages in the images and the music.”
Next, this band wrapped up a set at this year’s 2000 Trees festival but the Danish powerhouse MØL have released a documentary-style video in a montage of footage of the band.
Cambridge rockers Mallory Knox are nearing the released of their self-titled fourth record this month and this is the latest offering which has followed ‘Guts’, ‘White Lies’ and ‘Black Holes’, all of which will be released onto the record.

Heading into unfamiliar territory with this one, The Amazons have a fresh cut from their second record ‘Future Dust’ which was released earlier this year via Fiction Records, which comes ahead of their sets at this year’s Reading And Leeds Festivals later this month.
Frontman Mattew Thomson has shared:
“We fell in love with [director] Thomas James’ vision for Doubt It early on. He tapped into the themes of temptation and recklessness and applied his love and knowledge for the Horror genre to come up with something special. In a twist of fate, the video was shot in Wales, the country in which we wrote and recorded Future Dust.”
Heading straight into heavier territory, the legends that are Skunk Anansie have premiered their brand new video for ‘What You Do For Love’, which is the first new music in three years for the band.
It’s pulled together lots of live footage from the recent EU leg of their 25Live@25 tour.
Speaking on the track, vocalist skin shared: “People always use love as the reason to do the most heinous things to each other.”
“The hardest songs to write are political ones which is why we always try to avoid them.
“They’re supposed to just instantaneously spill out of you due to pure vexation, or they sound insincere and you fall into tired old clichés. This is one of those moments of rage! Love always seems to be the reason why people do hateful things, which I’ve never been able to understand.”
Up next are Post-hardcore up and comers Anemoria who’ve debuted a video for ‘Cashmere Jungle’ which is the first piece of new material following last year’s self-titled EP.
It’s uncertain whether or not the song will remain as a stand-alone single, or if it’ll feature on a yet-to-be-announced EP or Record.
Heading over to Bristol, the Punks known as Idles have a new animated video for ‘Never Fight With A Perm’, which is a fan-favourite taken from last years record ‘Joy As An Act Of Resistance’.
It was created by the great team at Fluffer Records who used the beat ’em up video game concept for the song’s lyrics to tackle toxic masculinity.
Taken from the record, ‘Barriers’, Frank Iero & The Future Violents have dropped a video for ‘Great Party’.
Starring Surfbort, the video gets weird after Frank and his band performs.
On the track, Frank has shared:
“I knew immediately when we finished writing ‘Great Party’ that it needed to be a single off the record and that we needed to make a video for that song. when I wrote the treatment for it I could see the whole thing playing out in my head, and I knew that our friends needed to be cast in it! I saw this weird gathering that you couldn’t tell if it was an AA meeting or the worlds bleakest birthday, and I knew our friend Dani from Surfbort had to be the one to light the fuse that would turn everything on it’s head. I really love this video, it may have turned out even better than I first imagined it.”
Heading to the heavyweights for the final videos, the band making a name for themselves are TheCityIsOurs as they have released a video for ‘Don’t Wait For Me’, a single from their upcoming record, ‘Low’.
Mikey Page (Vocals / Guitar) has shared:
“‘Don’t Wait For Me’ was written about a relationship that was incredibly toxic. We wanted to highlight the effects that relationships of this nature can have. Toxicity in these scenarios is horrible for all those involved, but there is still a general stigma that often men are at fault within these relationships or they should just ‘suck it up’ and get on with it, and even though it isn’t widely spoken about, we’re just as vulnerable… We wanted to juxtapose the lyrical message with the music, to symbolise this stigma. On the surface, this track has a feel-good vibe, but if you dig deeper, you’ll uncover something far more vulnerable.”
Ending on the giants known as Asking Alexandria this week and just in case you’ve been living under a rock, they have recently released the mega video for ‘The Violence’ the band’s latest single which sees a little role reversal of the zombie genre and humans are the infected and zombies are their prey.
Danny Worsnop (vocals) has shared:
“‘The Violence’ was an incredibly rewarding song to create. Ben and I both got to go way outside anything we’d done before and create something fresh and engaging. Thematically the song is about the way mainstream media and politicians manipulate and spread mistruth amongst the people to encourage and create anger, fear, division, and conflict in their quest to control and acquire power. As the history books have shown, this only goes so far before the people stand up and say enough is enough. I hope everyone enjoys what we’ve created here, we had a great time making it, and even more fun shooting the video!”

The first band on today’s roundup are the ever fantastic Sum 41 and their phenomenal ’45 (A Matter Of Time)’ single where it is a statement from frontman Deryck Whibley on how he feels about the current state of the world.
Moving into the glamourous Palaye Royale, they never had much time to recharge from the release of ‘Fucking With My Head’ as they immediately released ‘Nervous Breakdown’ literally a week after!
How about some Canadians next? Single Mothers have a brand new video out for ‘Metropolis (Cultivated Wasteland)’.
On the track, Drew Thomson (vocals) shared:
“It’s a collaboration between Peter Landi and myself. I had recently moved apartments and my old landlord had sold the building we lived in and kicked everyone out. There was a real estate boom and we were all seemingly in the middle of it.
Moving straight across the pond to Ireland, Fangclub has released a video for the title track of their second record, ‘Vulture Culture’.
On the record as a whole, Steven King (Vocals / Guitar) shared:
“It’s a culmination of a lot of chaos and inner mental violence which almost capsized the band. Making this record got us through the fog and we have a new lease of life. The energy is real, the chaos makes sense and the violence is fuel for the fire.”
Moving again straight across to Wales, the progressive Post-Hardcore Dream State are now a foursome as their Bassist Danny Rayer has since departed which means their latest single ‘Primrose’ which is expected to be a part of their upcoming to be announced debut record is the first release without Rayer.
On ‘Primrose’ vocalist CJ shared:
“Sometimes life will put you to the test, we can find ourselves in these cycles and they present themselves in different forms, when I thought I had broken one of mine, I found myself right back at square one, I was in pursuit of pleasure despite the negative outcomes and I found myself trapped again.
Sometimes we have to fall and fall to truly awaken and conquer our egos. There’s still so much we have to learn about ourselves and this is a chance to express my journey and open the door to anyone fighting the same demons. We want you to see that through darkness, light can be found.”
Keeping things hardcore but going a little harder, have you wondered what Ice Nine Kills are like live? Well, for this video you can! They’ve also recruited members of Reel Big Fish to help them out where the atmosphere? It’s amazing. Check out ‘IT Is The End’ below.
Switching it up to some Lo-fi Punk for Cultdreams next, this duo has a message in ‘Not My Generation” where they confront misogyny as well as right-wing politics.
Lucinda Livingstone (Vocals / Guitar) has shared:
“I see men ignore misogyny, as if it’s not their problem, to act upon their sisters when they get touched inappropriately. While everyone is still suffering, the country that we live in is fucking everything up. Politics and right-wing shit. Not letting other people in. Ignoring what matters, whilst investing in ignorance.”
Heading to the south of England now, and I mean bottom of the country Plymouth as we bring you, metalcore newcomers, Moorhaven and the bands newest single, ‘Land Of Lies’.
Lewis Garry (Guitar) shared: The message to take away is kind of that we’re all these messy, flawed, complicated, sometimes ugly, sometimes pretty people, and you shouldn’t feel pressured to have (or appear to have) a perfect life, because there will be people there for you when things get tough.”
Kentucky here we come! Not literally but this is the location of the penultimate band in the form of post-hardcore trio Too Close To Touch who’ve debuted a video for ‘F.I.N.E’, the band latest single which is the first new music since I’m Hard To Love, But So Are You, Vol. 1’ EP.
Lastly, Asking Alexandria. They’re back for a ride. Fans have recently been calling a phone number where cryptic teasers had everyone hearing, “The violence is coming”.
It’s here. The violence has come. This also marks the first new music for the band since the release of their 2017 self-titled record, if you don’t include acoustic versions they also released in 2018.

Remember Denis Stoff? The guy who was the frontman of Asking Alexandra for a while?
Well, his new group Drag Me Out have a surprise! They’ve dropped their debut record! And this comes after two weeks prior, they released their first single and video.
The Record is called Pressure but isn’t available on Spotify…. Yet.

During Warped Tour, there were many things that happened. But one thing that I’ve seen that’s the most beautiful via Social Media posts is Asking Alexandria’s Danny Worsnop propose to his girlfriend, Victoria Potter.
Yesterday I took a little detour in our show to do something that’s been on my mind for a long time now. This woman has carried me through so much. She taught me to open up, to let love in, to be vulnerable, and to be true to myself. She has loved me through my crazy and my quiet, when I’m the hardest to love. She holds me when I break, and pushes me when I don’t think I’m enough. Because of her I wake up every day a better man than I was the day before. She will never know just how special she is to me, or just how much love I have for her… but that isn’t going to stop me from doing everything I can to show her for the rest of our lives. She is my angel and I’m never letting go.
I am the luckiest and happiest man in the world.
The song is called Angels, and will be coming out very soon along with the rest of this video. Keep yer peepers peeled!
Now, this is a strange one. Black Veil Brides have been denied entry to Canada while they were on their tour with Asking Alexandria and Crown The Empire. On February 26th they couldn’t get across the border to play Vancouver.
This is their statement.
“This morning we arrived at the Canadian border in order to gain access to a country that we have not only played countless shows in but also recorded an album and spent a great deal of time in over the years. Instead, several members of our tour were denied entry, berated and treated with utter contempt by the agents on duty.
We have been touring internationally for a decade and have never experienced such a lack of civility at any border crossing or passport control in any country we have ever visited. We have a fantastic relationship with our Canadian fans and it’s with a very heavy heart that we must share that tonight’s show in Vancouver will be cancelled.
Asking Alexandria will continue on and still perform tonight as scheduled. We encourage everyone to still go to the show and have a great time. Refunds can be obtained at the point of purchase, thank you for your understanding and we promise to return again as soon as possible.”
Jake Pitts took to Instagram to explain it further.
“Of all the years touring, we have never witnessed such hostile and aggressive behavior from border patrol agents.
Don’t worry though, we are all fine and everyone in the band is ok. Nobody is in trouble, nobody did anything wrong, the border agents were just very unreasonable and for whatever reason wanted to make it hell for us. We are very bummed we cannot be there to perform for everyone who was expecting to see us tonight.
We love all our Canadian supporters and I hope we are able to come back soon to make it up for you! Our boys in @askingalexandria and @crowntheempire will still be performing, so feel free to go support them and have an awesome night, otherwise you can seek a refund at the point of purchase. We will see you again soon.”
If you follow the link, you can hear 30 seconds of a track called ‘Little Did I Know’ which by the looks of things will appear on a record called ‘Shades Of Blue’ which will be released in the spring of this year.
