We’re back! We’re here for a roundup of ten of the best recently released music videos and sometimes a little information that comes with them! They’re not all within the same genre and they’re all different in some way or another but that means that there’s a little something for everyone here but come on, let’s get down to the music (videos)!
We’re going acoustic for our first pick this week with The Amazons with the UK tour video for ‘Mother’.
Matthew Thomson has said on the track:
“This video encapsulates everything we love about being in a band. Performing live is in our blood. When we tour, the music evolves.
“It was such a fun process looking back on our UK tour with Phoebe Fox as she put the video together. We hope we can join our fans again soon, and safely.”
Keeping things a little light for the next pick this week is the phenomenal Machine Gun Kelly. The other month, the release of ‘Bloody Valentine’ saw him collaborate with none other than Travis Barker where now an acoustic version has been released. This version of the track sees him playing guitar, all the while looking out at a sunset over LA.
Bloody Valentine is the first off MGK’s upcoming record, ‘Tickets To My Downfall’, which is set to be released on July 17th via Bad Boy / Interscope Records where the narrative will “revolve around a complex and seductive love story”.
Heading for British shores for the next pick of this week’s roundup, we have Luzzy Farrall.
This latest cut from her record, ‘Bruise’ is the track ‘Okay’. And it’s a home made video for this one to!
On the track, here’s what Lizzy said:
“‘Okay’ is what I’d call the interlude on the album. The lyrics are very personal and the performance on the track is very raw. The song itself is based around being stuck in your own head and being forced, because of life situations, to be independent but also discovering whilst doing so, just how much self-hate is actually present. This is also probably more relevant to me now than when I wrote the song.”
Moving to Remo Drive for our next pick of the week, and with the band’s third record, ‘A Portrait Of An Ugly Man’ released today, they released this video for ‘A Flower And A Weed’ just a few days in advance for its release.
Following the premiere over on Triple J, the Aussie powerhouses Hands Like Houses have a new cut in the form of ‘Space’.
This is the second release of material since their 2018’s ‘-Anon’, following on from the track, ‘Headspace’ which came out in March of this year.
Trenton Woodley (Vocals) has said:
“It’s weird to think that we wrote this song about emotional isolation and this sense of claustrophobia before any of this crazy year had gone down. It’s about this emotional collage of situations where I felt like I was going through the motions, grappling with exhaustion, trying to do the right thing but still coming up short of other people’s expectations… it was really important to me that the lyrics carried the weight of what I was singing about without getting caught in the specifics.
I wanted it to feel tired, but not hopeless. I wanted it to feel worn out, but not ready to give up yet. I didn’t want to sound like I’d stopped trying, I just wanted it to feel like coming out of a long silence to say, “Be patient, I can get this right. I just need a little more faith, a little trust and some space to get myself back together.””
Here’s some new Pop-Punk from those lads you either love or hate, Neck Deep!
Following on from the release of their new track ‘Fall’, they have a new video where they team up with a lot of skaters including Cordano Russell, Alex Dechuna, Roxana Howlett and more! There’s some skateboarding footage (of course) and some tour footage back from when they actually could.
Ben Barlow says:
“COVID-19 has made shooting videos all the more challenging. So, we looked at some of the things we love most: fucking around on tour and skateboarding. We decided to reach out to skaters that we have met along our touring journey, that we believe deserve some recognition, and give them a platform to display their amazing talents.
We’re switching things up to a heavy track now! The giants Machine Head have dropped a double digital single (wait. Is that even a thing?) where the double single suggests the two tracks act as protest anthems which were written after the murders of George Floyd and Ahmaud Arbery.
Here’s the video for the a side track ‘Stop The Bleeding’ which features Killswitch Engage frontman Jesse Leach.
Second to last video now for this week’s roundup pick and we have the British singer/songwriter Inklinks (whom is none other than the ex- Fearless Vampire Killers frontman Kier Kemp!) as he lifts another track off his upcoming ep, ‘Is This Who You Are?’.
Here’s what Kemp has said:
“‘Dizzy’ is a song for everyone that ever felt that they needed a new start. Sometimes it can feel like things change and you’re never going to be the same… but ultimately the song is about combating that idea head on. You’ve got this.”
‘Is This Who You Are?’ is set to be released on August 28th 2020 via Marshall Records.
I had to choose this track as the last one and you’ll know why when you see the name. This is Chester Bennington’s pre Linkin Park band, Grey Daze. The track, ‘B12’ is off their upcoming release ‘Amends’ which will feature vocals Chester actually recorded before his tragic passing.
There’s also an appearance from Korn’s Munky and Head.
