Counterparts are back. The Hamilton, Ontario-based metalcore heavyweights have announced their upcoming full-length, A Eulogy For Those Still Here, due out October 7th from New Damage Records. The album finds Counterparts tapping into a deep sense of uncertainty and dread and pushing their visceral sound to even greater extremes to make their most definitive statement yet.
To mark the announcement, Counterparts have shared the album’s first single “Unwavering Vow.” Kicking off with a blast of pummeling drums and intricate riffing, the gut punch of a track offers a ground-shaking introduction to A Eulogy For Those Still Here. After two minutes of intense aggression the song pauses for a brief respite of haunting atmosphere, then hurtles into one of the most crushing breakdowns the band have ever written.

Slam Dunk Festival has announced more bands to its 2022 lineup! And there’s some big and amazing names on there.
First up are Beartooth! They’re making their return to the Slam Dunk Festival lineup for the first time in five years.
On the announcement, the band says:
“We’re beyond excited to return to Slam Dunk. It’s a killer festival with killer bands and it’s an honor to be a part of the lineup. Like a lot of bands, it’s been years since we’ve been able to play in the UK. I promise we’re gonna do everything in our power to kick major ass. See ya there!”
And also set to play the festival wit Counterparts, 3OH!3, Set It Off, Nova Twins, With Confidence, Magnolia Park and Lil Lotus.
First things first, I do apologise that there was no new music or music video post last friday! Since lockdown has lifted the restrictions on shops in the UK, it meant that I was back at work and because a few team members from my shop couldn’t come back yet, I stepped up and took on their hours to help out my store.
And now, We’re back for a roundup of five of the best recently released tracks and sometimes a little information that comes with them! They’re not all within the same genre and they’re all different in some way or another but that means that there’s a little something for everyone here but come on, let’s get down to the music (videos)!
First up this week are the 2020 anthemic kings known as Angels & Airwaves who’ve got a new single titled as ‘All That’s Left Is Love’, which comes off their upcoming TBC sixth record.
Tom DeLonge had the follow to say on the record.
“We never appreciate the connection we have with others until it’s gone, and although we may not be able to change this first part of this story, we can for sure change the ending.”
Check out ‘All That’s Left Is Love’ below.
Up next, we have the Like Pacific. The track, ‘Hands Tied’ have an unreleased B-side from their 2016 record, ‘Distant Like You Asked’ for everyone to enjoy. The track also features Comeback Kids ‘Andrew Neufeld lending vocals for the track.
“This song was crazy when we recorded it. It was wild to have Andrew Neufeld on a track. I must have listened to ‘Wake The Dead’ and ‘Broadcasting…’ all through high school. I’m glad it’s seeing the light of day. I was probably the angriest I was when recording ‘Distant Like You Asked’. After the death of my grandmother and a manipulative ex, it definitely was an abrasive one.”
Time for something a little more tifftastic now. Their debut record, ‘Internal Incarceration’ is set to drop in a few months times but until then we have the phenomenal ‘Manipulation Artist’.
‘Manipulation Artist’ is a swirling mass of razor wire riffs and bludgeoning breakdowns that the band say is about “questioning your own sanity while you are trapped in a cycle of abuse from a manipulative, toxic partner. One day of happiness overshadows the pain until it starts all over again.”
Moving into heavy territory we have the Hamilton based Counterparts. The band released their latest record, ‘Nothing LEft To Love’ last year and now, there’s some brand new B-Sides from the record which didn’t make the cut.
The two tracks are called ‘Purer Form Of Pain’ and ‘Strings Of Separation’ so I’m going to flip a coin for which to post this week. The winner? ‘Strings Of Separation.
Brendan Murphy (Vocals) explains:
“One person’s trash is another person’s treasure… so here’s two more b-sides I guess? We wrote these songs when we were in the process of recording ‘Nothing Left To Love’ and for whatever reason, they just didn’t fit the vibe of the album so we decided to cut ’em. Since you guys seemed pretty stoked on the ‘Private Room’ EP, we figured why not just throw these up? At the very least, it’ll occupy like 5-10 minutes of your time… and who knows when the five of us will even be able to cross the border to be in the same room and record more music? You might love them, you might think they stink, either way it’s all good by me. They’re b-sides! Who gives a shit?”
And now time for some British heavyweights. Whilst being all alone in isolation, Bring Me The Horizon didn’t sit around. They’ve been writing and recording where the first track of those sessions, ‘Parasite Eve’ got unleashed into the world last week.
Originally intended to be released June 10th 2020, it was postponed due to the Black Lives Matter movement and protets, where they state they “don’t feel comfortable released and promoting anything that takes the focus off what’s important right now.”
Frontman Oli Sykes had the following to say on the track.
“‘Parasite Eve’ came from an idea to write a survival horror song, but as the pandemic started to develop, the parallels were so similar it felt so close to the bone we decided to shelve it. As time went on, we started to feel how relevant it was and that instead of shying from it, that we should address the dark side, embrace it and process what’s going on… ‘Parasite Eve’ is our message of hope, wrapped in sadness and anger.”
And that’s it for another week of a countdown of the best singles out in the world in the last week. Be sure to check back next-time for another round of great music videos. If you have any suggestions for me to check out, be sure to send an email or message us via the socials on Facebook or Twitter!
And it’s that time of the week again, another music video roundup. If you’re new to the posts, it’s simple. I find ten of the latest music videos out there and put them into this convenient list for your viewing pleasure.
First up is Cold Night For Alligators. Three years after their debut record, the Danish metallers have announced the release of its follow-up and have accom[anied by the news by releasing ‘Canaille’.
Having put out, ‘Private Room’, a short EP of unreleased B-sides from their past record, hardcore group Counterparts have premiered a video for ‘We Forgive’.
Next up are Being As An Ocean. Alongside the release of the bulked up deluxe edition of their fourth full-length effort, ‘Waiting For Morning To Come’, the band have shared a new track, ‘Know My Name’.
With their second album due next month, Southampton’s Our Hollow, Our Home have released another teaser for the record with a brand new song, ‘In Moment’.
Now with legal disputes behind them, Florida’s I Set My Friends On Fire, are moving forward with their plan of releasing two full-length records and they’re marking this celebration of freedom with a brand new song, called ‘Don’t Take Me For Pomegranate’.
Time for a video which features religion and macabre as that’s what death metallers Aborted are going for in their video for ‘Vespertine Decay’.
Their new record, Palms is out now. It’s all over the place. Believe me! But if you wanna listen to one great track from the record, then you have to check out “The Dark” first.
Now, this next track comes from A Few Too Many. The Cambridgeshire Pop-Punks have said, “Solid Ground is a song about finding your feet again after your life has been turned upside down, leaving the past behind and looking forward to the future.” The video is also taken from their upcoming EP of the same name.
Time to go a little Indie Punk now. St Albans group TV Coma have lifted new single ‘Trudy’, the latest track to be taken from their debut EP, ‘Body Negativity’.
And lastly, on the list, we have Crossfaith. They’re due to hit UK shores next month for a tour with Blood Youth and Ground Culture. But ahead of their arrival, they’ve released the video for ‘Make A Move’. The video is a good insight into what UK fans are in for next month.
And that’s it for this weeks music video roundup! Be sure to check back next week for another countdown of the ten of the best!
Hey everyone, Apologies for not putting out a new post of music videos last week, I’ve been at some job interviews in the last week so time has gotten away from me.
But now, here’s another edition of the Music Video Posts. First up are Glassjaw who have dropped a video for their track, ‘My Conscience Weighs A Ton.’
Next up are Fangclub, a personal favourite band of mine. After the release of ‘True Love’ in June, they have dropped a video for ‘High’ with some amazing visual effects.
Now, coming off with a personal message of a period of We are in a period of instability, adversity, and change… but also it’s a time for hope and possibility… As Espace The Fate put it, there is the video for I Am Human.
Now, with some Airplay and some videos under their belt, Somerset group Pretty Little Enemy have a new single and a new video in the form of ‘Never Say Goodbye.’
Moving to TheCityIsOurs, this video is centred around the theme of loss and death, in their video for ‘Veins’.
Ever wanted to see what touring life is like for a band who wear Wolves on their heads? Well that’s what the point of this video is in Man With A Mission’s video for ‘Hey Now’.
I’ve been waiting to hear something from this group for a while. Now, this is building up a release from their new record, ‘Mental Knife’ but post-hardcore’s Hail The Sun is a bit arty and more or less sticks to the stop-motion technique in their video for ‘The Stranger In Our Pictures’.
Now let’s go to Canada. Melodic hardcore fave’s Counterparts will be releasing a new EP called ‘Private Room’ and they’ve just dropped the video for ‘Selfishly I Sink’. It’s a B-Side from ‘You’re Not You Anymore’ but now I’m generally excited to see more unreleased music see the light of day.
And the penultimate video. something politically charged? Check. Confronting historical injustice? Check. That’s exact;y what The Fever 333 tackle in their video for Made An America. On the video, Jason Butler has said: This video was an attempt to offer representation to gravely underrepresented, and ironically prevalent, faction in both music and society. This is an acknowledgment of those whose bodies were exploited in the name of power. The beautiful bodies and souls that have been taken from time and time again to serve the interests of someone else with no regard for their own existence or advancement.
And lastly, last week Bring Me The Horizon dropped the first song off their new era. Now I’m not saying we should be starting or joining any cults but Oli Skyes and co do want me to follow their music more closely. Check out the video for their single, Mantra below.
And that’s it for another week of the best recent music videos. Be sure to check back next week for another round of the ten of the best.
It’s time for another round of music videos! If you’re new to the post, I pick ten that have been recently released for everyone eyes and ears to feast upon!
First up is the British extreme metal group Conjurer who has released a 360-degree video for Retch, which will feature on their upcoming record ‘Mire’.
This one is about a month old but it still packs a punch. This is off Crossfaith’s latest EP Wipeout and the brilliant title track off it.
Good Tiger have just recently dropped their newest record, ‘We Will All Be Gone’, and it’s been a very good listen and this is the video for Salt Of The Earth.
This track isn’t technically in the genre of rock but I’ll allow it for this one only. This is Lights with the next instalment in her record, ‘Skin & Earth’ and the video to accompany the track, ‘We Were Here.
Off the back of the self-titled record for Malevolence, a metal group from Sheffield, they dropped this video for Self Supremacy a few weeks ago.
Following its premiere over on Revolver Magazine’s website, the Canadian metalcore group Counterparts have released the video of their titular track ‘You’re Not You Anymore’ off their latest record.
These days, Germany isn’t short of its metal groups and the trio known as O’Mara is one of their best exports at the moment. They’ve just debuted their latest video for the track, ‘Relapse’ which sees the band going through some psychosis within the halls of a school.
Now, I’ve loved this track since I first heard it over on Radio 1’s Rock Show a few weeks ago but now The Faim has released a stunning video to go with their huge track, ‘Saints of the Sinners’.
Anybody need some more Waterparks in their life? of course, you do! It’s got everything you want. Colour, the lads and some strange goings-on. This is the video for ‘Not warriors’ and ‘Crybaby’.
Lastly, ahead of their upcoming UK tour, Canadian Punk Rockers Sumo Cyco have dropped a track off their forthcoming EP. Details are a little sparse at the moment, but for now, here’s the video for ‘Undefeated’.
And that’s it for another round of music videos for one more week! Be sure to check out next week’s post for more music-filled madness!
Hey everyone, apologies this is coming a little late! My place had a problem with its internet connection and so I was unable to upload this yesterday as I had originally intended.
But, let’s kick things off! First up is Canadian Hardcore band; Counterparts. This is off their recently released fifth record, ‘You’re Not You Anymore’ and this is a fantastically written track, Swim Beneath My Skin.
This next trio has just come off their UK tour and dropped the video for this track recently. This comes from their soon-to-be-released fourth record, Hold On To Your Heart. Here’s Daydream.
Now, let’s turn our attention to a lesser known band. This band have recently self-released this track from their E.P, Shadows Of You, here is Echoic with Shadows Of You.
Moving onto Don Broco next with a video that matches their cheekiness alongside the fact it’s all a part of their next huge sound! Here’s Stay Ignorant.
This next video comes from a band who likes to shock with style. He may have had to postpone a few dates the other week but this video will show he’s always ready to go, especially is he has Johnny Depp alongside him. This is Marilyn Manson with Say10.
Now, let’s take things to the Welsh isles for a fantastic band, The Dirty Youth. They’ve been a little quiet recently but this is the reason for it. There’s no news if it’s just a single or part of a larger concept but, we’re just glad they’re back. Here’s Hurricane.
Now, we’re going to turn the noise up a fair bit with this next band. It’s the first bit of material they’ve released since the band dropped their full-length album ‘Smile’ last year. This is expected to feature on their next record which if anything is to go by, will sound huge! This is Cane Hill with ‘Too Far Gone’.
Just like every great show, they slow things down to get ot that emotion, it’s what I’m doing here. This is With Confidence and their final track off Better Weather. According to lead singer Jayden Seeley, the track is about “our video for ‘Waterfall’ is an exploration of technology’s effect on the modern relationship”. It’s an immensely powerful track meshed together with the visuals to match, this is ‘Waterfall’.
Penultimate track time! This comes from a band who have been teasing this music video for a week or two now. This is Pierce The Veil with their newest single, “Today I Saw The While World.
Lastly, this is a band who have been away for a while making music. Their last track, Play dropped about two months ago, reclaiming their fanbase to the hard-hitting band they once were. On Tuesday, they were invited to Annie Mac’s Hottest Record In The World to introduce this track and announce their second studio record, ‘Knowing What You Know Now’ would drop January 26th 2018. This is the Bingley based band known only as Marmozets with Habits.
