Singer Paul Green states on the release of “Loss”: “It’s been 9 years of waiting for this day for our loyal fans and we couldn’t be happier to finally have ‘Loss’ out in the wild, we’re hugely grateful for their patience and support throughout these years. We’re incredibly proud of this record and we hope everyone enjoys what is a truly personal account of our lives over these last 3 years. We have endured the same hard times as many of you out there and for those navigating your own grief and mental health journeys, we hope ‘Loss’ helps you in some way.”
Furthermore, he adds particularly with regard to ‘Signal Fire’: ‘Signal Fire represents another dimension of the sound of ‘Loss’, its atmospherics and delicate passages nod to our past yet it looks forward to the new dynamic that flows through the album.’

After several years of silence, Devil Sold His Soul returned last December with a late 2020s music sensation: The UK based Ambient Post hardcore outfit announced their new album ‘Loss’ out on April 9th – their first release under the wings of Nuclear Blast Records. But the band has more up their sleeve and Devil Sold His Soul revealed the next piece of the colourful mosaic named ‘Loss’.

Singer Paul Green states: ‘The Narcissist’ is our heaviest track on the new record. It was written about the negative and disruptive people we have in our lives from time to time. It’s a middle finger to their unapologetic attitude and their inability to grasp reason or logic. It seems the world has spawned a lot of these types of people lately and this one’s for them. We started capturing elements for this track 3 years ago during our shows in Japan. Jonny our guitarist/producer, recorded the dissonant warning bells from the train station in Tateishi where we were staying. It’s a really cool memory from our time out there and to have it on the track just adds something special for us, it takes us back to that time and place every listen. We worked with the super talented Olli Appleyard on the music video for this track. Oli has an incredible imagination and some techniques and style that are completely unique to him, which we love. The main focus was to make the video aggressive, schizophrenic and imposing. ‘Loss’ is a diverse record with many facets, each of the singles we’ve chosen showcases another side of the album’s sound. We hope those who are craving something on the heavier side find satisfaction in this track, there’s something for everyone on this record and we’re excited for you all to hear it on April 9th.”

Devil Sold His Soul have announced a brand new record.
Titled as ‘Loss’, the record is set to be released on April 9th 2021 via Nuclear Blast.
Vocalist Paul Green had this to say about their signing to the label and what the album represents for the band:
“We’re incredibly excited to announce the release of our 4th album, ‘Loss’, through Nuclear Blast Records. ‘Loss’ comes from a dark place for us, life was cruel in the years before and during we wrote this record, this was our fuel for the songs. ‘Loss’ is an honest snapshot of that time in our lives, and it is our way of paying respect to those we loved and who are no longer with us. We couldn’t be more proud of these 10 songs and where they have pushed our songwriting, and we hope they truly connect with the listener. I don’t think any of us imagined when we were writing this album, that we would end up signing to the biggest metal label in the world. It’s given us that added validation that we’ve created something special, and we now have the platform to push it to where it needs to be.The belief that the team at Nuclear Blast has shown in the record is truly humbling, we’re extremely proud to be a part of this great label, and to be on a roster alongside so many bands we love and respect.”

The first track to be released from the album is ‘Beyond Reach’, which Paul has described like this:
“Our first single ‘Beyond Reach’ tells a story of the struggle and the impact that losing someone has, it speaks about the positive impact that individuals can have on us, and how loss can leave you unable to function. Despite the song coming from hard times, the track is positive, uplifting and carries plenty of energy. The message is far from sombre, instead it comes from a place of gratitude for having had that person in our life.”
