10 Films to look forward to for the rest of 2016.

1.Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

The next chapter in the Star Wars story goes back before Episode Four to tell the tale of how the Rebel Alliance secured the plans for the Death Star. Looking at how Star Wars Episode Seven did at the box office, Disney will have their fingers crossed for this film which stars Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Forest Whitaker and  Mads Mikkelsen.

Release Date: December 16th.









2.Doctor Strange

Out of the cannon at Marvel’s next venture is the Sorcerer Supreme; Doctor Strange. Plot details are being kept under wraps but what is known is that after a car accident, Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch)  goes on a journey of healing where he becomes a student to the Ancient One (Tilda Swinton).

Release Date: November 4th.












3.The Purge: Election Year

One film I’ve been looking forward to for a while is the next film in the Purge series. Set in a future America where all crime is legal for 12 hours and two years from where we left Frank Grillo’s Sargent Barnes, he attempts to defend presidential candidate Charlie Roan from her opponents hired killers so that the annual Purge is kept on the cards for a flourishing America. Also starring is Elizabeth Mitchell as Senator Charlie Roan and returning is Edwin Hodge as Dante Bishop

Release Date: July 1st



4.Suicide Squad

The worst heroes ever, Task Force X consists of DC villains who are taken by Amanda Waller to stop an unknown put powerful threat. This is the make or break point for DC films now as it needs a box office win for this ensemble film. This will star Will Smith as Deadshot, Jared Leto as The Joker, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn just to name a few.

Release Date: August 5th










5. Star Trek Beyond

Two and a half years on from the previous Star Trek adventure, the crew of the USS Enterprise, are attacked by unknown aliens, forcing them to abandon ship. Stranded with no means of rescue, the crew find themselves against a new and ruthless enemy. Returning is Chris Pine as James Kirk, Zachary Quinto as Spock, Anton Yelchin as Pavel Chekov, Idris Elba as Krall and Sofia Boutella as Jaylah.

Release Date: July 22nd.







6.Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them.

Continuing in the wizarding world of Harry Potter, a blunder at an important meeting by Magizoologist Newt Scamander, which makes him a fugitive in 1926 New York. He must track down an array of magical creatures to make things right.  Eddie Redmayne stars as Newt Scamander, Colin Farrell as Percival Graves and Ezra Miller as Credence.

Release Date:  November 18th.










7.The Magnificent Seven

An update of the Western classic, seven outlaws are recruited to help defend a town against corrupt industrialists. This action thriller has Denzel Washington team up with director Antoine Fuqua for the third time. Also Starring is Chris Pratt, Ethan Hawke, Vincent D’Onofrio and Peter Sarsgaard.

Release Date: September 23rd.




8.Assasins Creed

The next video game adaptation has a lot to gamble because of the way the type of films has perceived in the past. Callum Lynch is rescued by Abstergo Industries, the modern- day incarnation of the Templars. He is then put into the Animus to relive the memories of his ancestor during the Spanish Inquisition as he gains the knowledge and skills to fight back in the present day. Attached to this picture is Michael Fassbender, Marion Cotillard and Jeremy Irons.

Release Date: December 21st.





9.Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children

The next fantasy book adaptation which will try to outmatch Harry Potter which may just succeed in doing so. Jacob Porter washes up on a mysterious island where he helps a group of peculiar, orphaned children, protecting them and leading them away from horrible creatures who’s goal is to destroy them. Rising star Asa Butterfield is on board as well as Eva Green, Chris O’Dowd and Samuel L Jackson.

Release Date: September 30th.




10. Lights Out

Based on the short horror film of the same name. This has the protagonisr Rebecca worried that her brother, Martin, is being stalked by a spirit only visible in the dark. She links it to past events that may correspond to the events.

Release Date: August 16th.
