Green Day’s Track ‘American Idiot’ Is Certified 2x Platinum In The UK

It’s been 18 years since Green Day released their classic record, ‘American Idiot’

And the title track is still as outstanding as ever, even more so since it’s first release.

And its sentiment is still hitting a chord with plenty of people, as it has just been certified 2x Platinum in the UK, according to BPI. This equates to 600,000 sales. It was initially certified Platinum in 2018.

The album is also currently certified 8x Platinum, which we think you will agree is absolutely massive.

Sizzy Rocket Covers Green Day’s ‘Brain Stew’ Live From An Abandoned Theme Park

Recently, Sizzy Rocket teamed up with Moment House to create an unforgettable virtual concert experience. The virtual concert, titled ANARCHY: COME TO LIFE, was shot in one continuous take at the abandoned Lake Dolores Water Park. Today, Sizzy is releasing an explosive cover video of Green Day’s “Brain Stew,” which she performed as a part of last night’s virtual concert.

Sizzy Rocket’s third studio album, ANARCHY, was released earlier this year to rave reviews from fans and tastemakers alike. The 10-track album has been praised as “an in-your-face sucker punch that captures the swinging pendulum of heartbreak” (PAPER), “a rebellious collection of pop/punk/grunge/hip-hop/genre-blending tracks” (PRIDE), and “genre-blending, Spotify-era punk” (Subvrt Magazine). During a period where touring has become temporarily obsolete, the one-time event marked a chance for fans to see ANARCHY performed live from the ultimate punk dreamscape.

ANARCHY: COME TO LIFE was made possible by Moment House, a new live-streaming platform created last year by students/graduates from the USC Jimmy Iovine & Dr. Dre Academy for the Arts, Technology and the Business of Innovation, and backed by top tier Silicon Valley and music industry investors, including Scooter Braun, Troy Carter, and Jared Leto. Its intention is to create special, ticketed experiences (Moments) for artists’ fans, no matter where they are in the world. This year they have hosted performances by artists like Halsey, blackbear, YUNGBLUD, and Omar Apollo.

Green Day’s New Record, ‘Father Of All…’ Debuts At Number One

Over in the UK, Green Day’s new record, ‘Father Of All…’, has hit number one! That’s right, their 13th and latest studio record has officially secured their fourth number one record, selling over 23,000 units in the past chart week.

This record also takes home the highest-selling vinyl record of the week, selling over 3,800 units.!

This follows on from ‘Revolution Radio’ which was released back in 2012. Wow! That seems as if it was a lifetime ago!

Massive congratulations to the band and I hope everyone couldn’t be prouder!

Check out the video for their title track of the record, ‘Father Of All…’ below.

Billie Joe Armstrong Wants To Re-Record 2009 Record ‘Warning’

Billie Joe Armstrong of Green day has stated his ambition to re-record their 2000 record, ‘Warning’, in an effort to better capture the tracks on it when they are performed live.

Speaking to Rolling Stone,’ he said: “I’d like to go back and rerecord that album. It was right when Pro Tools started happening. I want to go back and just do everything more live, because I think ‘Minority’ live is a lot better than it came out on the album. But that’s just one of those things that you think about too much.”

Speaking more on this, he added “After ‘Time of Your Life’, I started getting into playing more acoustic guitar, and I really wanted to have more for ‘Warning’. And there was also a lot of kind of bad pop-punk that was starting to happen, and I wanted to go against that genre. This felt like the next step. I had been getting into listening to more of the Kinks and the Who, who found a lot of power in an acoustic song, and used the guitar almost like a drum.”

He continued, “‘Pinball Wizard’ is so percussive. I wrote this right before the election between George Bush and Al Gore. I started feeling the political wheels starting to turn toward conservatism a little bit. I think that song is sort of about declaring that you’re stepping out of the line, you’re not part of the sheep, and trying to find your own individualism. It felt like we were diving into something that was more conceptual for sure.”

Before they go back into the studio, however, Green Day are set to release their new album ‘Father Of All…’ Friday, February 07th 2020.
