Hollow Front Release New Single & Video For ‘Comotose’

Grand Rapids metalcore risers Hollow Front have ripped into 2022 with the release of their searing new single ‘Comatose’ today.

Hollow Front vocalist Tyler Tate shares that ‘Comatose’ is ultimately about battling against depression while living in the hopeless, nightmarish world situation of the pandemic. Specifically, the song explores him being left with a comatose-like feeling after having live music, life purpose and meaning ripped from underneath him due to restrictions.

“I came up with this concept while being caught in the depths of depression during the heaviest part of the pandemic. When the entire music industry was shut down, and there was no sign of a comeback sight. Everything we had worked for was taken away in the blink of an eye and we had no idea when we would get it back. It was terrifying,” he shares.

“I felt like I was fighting an impending darkness all the time, what I refer to in the song as “the sleep”; that feeling as if you’re just floating through your life, without happiness or purpose. Almost like being in a coma, but still retaining your higher cognitive functions. You’re aware of what’s happening around you, but don’t know how long you’ll be stuck this way, or if you’ll ever truly feel awake and alive again. But you have no choice but to press on, even though you feel trapped by the weight of carrying on. I think a lot of human beings feel this way, especially over the past few years. Some of us are on autopilot, just taking life day by day and hoping to feel happy and normal again.”

Check Out Hollow Fronts New video For ‘Treading Water’

Hollow Front have dropped a new music video for their latest single ‘Treading Water’.

On the track, frontman Tyler Tate says “It’s a song about being dragged under by the negative thoughts in your head and always feeling like you’re taking one step forward and ten steps back. It describes that feeling of drowning in your life, but always fighting and clawing your way back up to the surface, and not believing all the negative things your mind is telling you because you have a purpose to fulfil. It’s one of my favourite songs that we’ve ever written and I’m absolutely thrilled to release it for the world to hear. ‘Treading Water’ is the first big step towards releasing the best material we’ve created this far in our careers.”

Hollow Front Usher New Era With Latest Release, ‘Treading Water’

After snapping attention with their 2020 album Loose ThreadsHollow Front are continuing to carry that frenzied momentum into an inspired new era. 2021 finds the group freshly signed to UNFD, returning to the post-COVID touring circuit in full force (supporting the likes of ERRAWe Came As Romans and Dayseeker) and now, sharing their most forward-thinking single yet – ‘Treading Water’.

Hollow Front vocalist Tyler Tate describes the track as their most vocally and instrumentally challenging to date. After a slow burning intro, ‘Treading Water’ kicks into full throttle and maintains a roller coaster-like energy until its close.

“It’s a song about being dragged under by the negative thoughts in your head and always feeling like you’re taking one step forward and ten steps back,” shares Tate, adding: “It describes that feeling of drowning in your life, but always fighting and clawing your way back up to the surface, and not believing all the negative things your mind is telling you because you have a purpose to fulfil.

“It’s one of my favourite songs that we’ve ever written and I’m absolutely thrilled to release it for the world to hear. ‘Treading Water’ is the first big step towards releasing the best material we’ve created this far in our careers.”

Hollow Front Team Up With Fit For A King’s Ryan Kirby

Rapidly rising US metalcore outfit and UNFD’s latest signings Hollow Front have revealed a new cut of their track ‘Falling Apart’ today, featuring Fit For A King’s Ryan Kirby.

The release comes as UNFD release a special re-issue of Hollow Front’s acclaimed debut album Loose Threads on vinyl for the first time. Featuring the full album, alongside ‘Falling Apart’, and recent new cuts ‘Wearing Thin’ & ‘Loose Threads (Reimagined)’.

Hollow Front vocalist Tyler Tate shares just how bleak and hopeless ‘Falling Apart’ is:

“It’s an extremely dark song about my views of the world we live in today. From where I’ve been standing, especially during/after 2020, it’s become impossible to see the light at the end of the tunnel when you’re constantly surrounded by the negativity our world has been seemingly plagued with,” he says.

“In reference to the title, I think the fabric of humanity is falling apart, ravaged by greed, disease, and an utter lack of empathy for our fellow man. We’re a complicated species, with all the capabilities to create a peaceful and harmonious world, but instead we use our powers to destroy and divide… and while my views of the world may be morose, I don’t have much “faith” in humanity doing the right thing. While I truly hope it happens, I won’t be holding my breath.”

On teaming up with FFAK vocalist and Hollow Front management Ryan Kirby, Tate shares how the moment feels full circle:

“We’ve been working together for over two years now and without Ryan, we definitely wouldn’t be where we are today. Having him hop on ‘Falling Apart’ to guest feature for this re-release of the song was a real treat for us. Everyone in the band has been huge fans of FFAK, and a lot of HF’s original sound came from being inspired by Kirby and his band’s work. It feels like it’s come full circle in a way and we couldn’t be more proud to have someone like Ryan in our corner.”

The arrival of Hollow Front’s debut LP Loose Threads in June 2020 saw the Michigan locals declared an immediate must-watch. After clocking over 1 Million streams in its first week and 5 Million+ in a matter of months, Hollow Front found themselves on the tip of a global breakout and soon signed to UNFD.

The band join a huge crop of North American talent on the label’s roster, with recent additions including ERRAFrank IeroSilverstein and Like Moths To Flames, on top of the likes of Stray From The PathSilent Planet and LIMBS.

Limited copies of the extended re-issue of Loose Threads are available now through UNFD.

Hollow Front Release ‘Loose Threads (Reimagine) Single, LP Re-Issue Coming February 2021

After announcing their signing to UNFD at the tail end of 2020, rapidly rising US metalcore outfit Hollow Front are stepping into the new year with Loose Threads (Reimagined). Today’s release finds the four-piece stripping the track back to its acoustic bones and completely amplifying the emotional heart cry within.

Hollow Front vocalist/guitarist Dakota Alvarez shares the searingly personal inspiration behind the track:

“‘Loose Threads’ was the manifestation of a plea/cry towards my best friend succumbing to his mental illness, and almost ending his life. The song was written to express the wave of emotions I felt while reading what could’ve been his last texts, and trying to do everything in my power to get him to hold our bond strong enough to reconsider his decision.”

He explains that the decision to make a ‘Reimagined’ version of the track came from the desire to portray a softer, but more haunting side of both the song and the band themselves. “We thought that creating this rendition would open up the ability for people to connect with our music on a deeper, more intimate level, and experience Hollow Front in a more vulnerable setting, artistically,” he says.

Paired with its new music video, the arrival of ‘Loose Threads (Reimagined)’ follows the band’s latest release ‘Wearing Thin’ (listen/watch HERE), released alongside their signing in December. Both tracks will appear on the special re-issue of Hollow Front’s acclaimed debut album Loose Threadsreleased for the first time on vinyl via UNFD next month.

The arrival of Loose Threads in June 2020 saw Michigan locals Hollow Front declared an immediate must-watch, clocking over 1 Million streams in its first week and 5 Million+ in a matter of months. Offering a moment of reprieve from the outside chaos and a reminder that we aren’t alone, the release of Loose Threads haspositioned Hollow Front on the tip of a global breakout.

Musically, the album summons the heaviness of names such as Wage War and The Ghost Inside with the melodics of the likes of Polaris. While thematically, Loose Threads touches on incredibly dark personal experiences, Hollow Front assert that this record is a crutch for anyone overcoming something. Vocalist Tyler Tate declares: “I think it’s very symbolic of the lone wolf breaking free, free from whatever it is holding him back from chasing whatever his heart desires.”

Hollow Front join a huge crop of North American talent on UNFD’s roster, with recent additions including ERRAFrank IeroSilverstein and Like Moths To Flames, on top of the likes of Stray From The PathSilent Planet and LIMBS.

UNFD will release Hollow Front’s Loose Threads on vinyl for the first time in February featuring the full record, ‘Wearing Thin’, ‘Loose Threads (Reimagined)’ + more. Limited copies are available for pre-order now.

Hollow Front Sign With UNFD, Release New Music Video

Metalcore quintet Hollow Front have announced that they’ve signed to UNFD, which makes them the Aussie label’s latest signing.

In celebration of the news of their signing, the band have released a video for their latest track, ‘Wearing Thin’, which is expected to feature on a forthcoming re-issue of their latest record, ‘Loose Threads’.

Tyler Tate (Vocals) says the following on the song and its message:

“‘Wearing Thin’ is a love lost song, it’s about deep pain from losing someone that you thought was it, that you loved so much but they just don’t feel the same way about you. I was coming from the angle of my past relationship, I felt so tired from it yet I didn’t want to bring myself to let it go because there’s a part of you that thinks it could still be OK. It wasn’t healthy, so ‘Wearing Thin’ is really me saying that I’m ready to stop feeling this way.”
