Music Video Roundup 14/06/19

It’s 4PM on a Friday! This means it’s time for the music video roundup. If you’re new to either the blog or these music video roundup posts, this is how it works. Every week, I watch some of the best recently released music videos and compile them into a list for everyone’s viewing pleasure. They’re span across all the different genres, so expect something different for most of the tracks.

Up first this week are the fantastic Beartooth. They’ve just recently released the official video for ‘Afterfall’ and they’re out to prove that aliens do exist in this video.

Up next are Fresh from their performances over on the main stage of Slam Dunk festival and they’ve got some help from Trophy Eyes frontman John Floreani. Check out Boston Manor’s latest video for ‘Liquid’ below.

Moving up to Scotland for our next video, Woes have done some globetrotting in their latest video for ‘Fancy’.

On the track, frontman DJ has said:

“’Fancy’ is a song about when you’re first getting to know someone and you’re into them, but you have to do a bit of work to convince them to take a chance on you… It’s a fun, upbeat song about a feeling everyone can understand, It’s one of the most fun, accessible songs on the record, but there’s a TONNE of musicality going on underneath, there are some great riffs, there’s an insane bass line hiding in the first verse, some big fills. But everything contributes to making an upbeat song that you could jump around to at a festival, I love it”

Keeping up with another Scottish band, we go to the trio The LaFontaines have the release of their third record, ‘Junior’ very soon but now for the moment, we have their latest single ‘Alpha’.

Frontman Kerr Okan has said on the track :

“‘Alpha’ comes as a result of the losses we’ve had recently in this area from young males, predominately of the ‘Alpha’ stereotype. I’ve often struggled with my emotions – anything other than aggression was always seen as a weakness and something that should be locked away. ‘Alpha’ marks the point in my own journey where I realised that there was something real to be gained from embracing the spectrum of emotions – whether you’re male or not.”

Back in January, the British newcomers Burdened released their debut track ’33’ and now they finally have a follow-up! It’s called doubt and you can check it out right below.

Heading to Manchester for some more newcomers to the scene, Grief has gotten some fans off the back of their debut track, ‘Dorman’ which was released back in March but now, there’s more to come from this band.

The post-hardcore group have recently released an accompanying video for ‘Burial’ which at the time of writing, is not confirmed to be a stand-alone track or will feature on a future EP or Record.

Check out ‘Burial’ below.

Keeping things Post-Hardcore for the next choice on the roundup are Petrol Girls and their latest cut from their recently released second record, ‘Cut & Stitch’.

Vocalist Ren Aldridge has said: “I struggled to put lyrics to this track for a really long time. But following a week of spectacularly shit mental health in the studio, I made it into a motivational sonic kick up the arse and back into action. I personally find a lot of the discourse around mental health a bit claustrophobic and babying, and that contributes to me feeling worse. Independence, activity and purposefulness are what I need to keep my shit together. I wrote this song for myself – if it’s useful for other people that’s cool, but everyone’s different, and I really want to underline that.”

Bristol is the next destination for the next video. This is of course, Phoxjaw. They’ve recently signed over with Hassle Records and have an EP, ‘A Playground For Sad Adults’ out next month to!

For their first cut off the EP, is the second track, ‘Melt, You’re A Face Of Wax’ which you can check out below.

Let’s go across to Texas for the penultimate choice on thsi weeks music video roundup! Everyone cool with that? Awesome. Also as a change up in genre to Pop-Rock is Bruce Avery or rather his alias The Rocket Summer as he’s shared the latest released off his seventh full length record, ‘Sweet Shivers’ in the form of ‘Shatter Us’.

Check it out below.

This week, I’ve reserved possibly the best band I’ve heard in 2018. This is from the Vietnamese heavy hitters Windrunner as they have a massive video which is a double video to accompany the opening track from their debut full-length record, ‘Mai’ and those tracks? It’s ‘Mulan’ and ‘Oleander’

And that’s it for another week of music video roundup. Don’t forget to check back next week at 4PM sharp for another countdown of ten of the best recent music videos to feast your eyes upon. There’s also new posts every day on the Almost anything Media so be sure to check out anything that might catch your eye.

Music Video Roundup 24/05/19

It’s 4PM on a Friday! This means it’s time for the music video roundup. If you’re new to either the blog or these music video roundup posts, this is how it works. Every week, I watch some of the best recently released music videos and compile them into a list for everyone’s viewing pleasure. They’re span across all the different genres, so expect something different for most of the tracks.

The first band in this weeks list are the Californian Punks Culture Abuse. They’ve recently released a track titled as ‘Goo’, which is the first piece of new material since their last year’s ‘Bay Dream’.

Keeping things stateside for the next video, the Minnesota Indie Rockers Remo Drive have dropped a video for ‘Around The Sun’. This is a new single to come from their upcoming full-length record, ‘Natural, Everyday Degradation’.

Erik Paulson (Vocals / Guitar) had this to say on the track.

“There’s sadness in routine. Even in the happiest of situations, we’re losing valuable moments or time. All these songs [on the album] are about some sort of warped existence, but through that, I think we ultimately find we can be whatever we want to be.”

Going across to Philadelphia, the Pop-Punkers known as Grayscale are ready to start a new cycle with the release of their single, ‘Painkiller Weather’. This is the first material of new music since the release of their 2017 debut record, ‘Adornment’.

How about we move things across to Canada for this next video? Ahead of their UK tour and set at Download Festival, Sumo Cyco has released a love-driven video, fitting for their new single, ‘Love You Wrong’.

On the track, the band have said:

“‘Love You Wrong’ is a song about the push and pull of a deep epic love. Sometimes love so intense can be unhealthy, other times it can feel like the meaning of life. There’s a tangled web of chemicals dancing between your heart and your brain that can feel like whiplash.”

Shall we move to the British Isles for a few videos? That sounds as if it’s a good idea, keep things fresh. Bring Me The Horizon have a busy summer of festivals ahead of them, playing a set at Radio 1’s Big Weekend and then curating their own day at All Points East in London, it hasn’t stopped the band from releasing a new video. Directed by Chris Muir, the video was shot whilst the band was on tour in Sao Paulo, Brazil earlier this year.

Check out Mother Tongue below.

Moving to some metalcore for the next pick, TheCityIsOurs have a new offering in ‘Bare Bones’. The track features vocals from the Our Hollow, Our Home frontman Connor Hallisey and will act as the lead single from their upcoming debut record, ‘Low’.

Check out ‘Bare Bones’ below.

And for a more lighter feel, the Pop-Rockers on the rise Hot Milk have dropped a brand new video off their debut EP, ‘Are You Feeling Alive’ and this track, it’s ‘Wide Awake’.

Moving across to Ireland for this next band, one that’s been away for a while on the making of their new record, but first the trio Fangclub have a ferocious new track in the form of ‘Hesitations’.

Stephen King (Vocals) has said: “It’s a heavy hitter with a lot of massive riffs. Lyrically, songs are always open to interpretation but we will say this, the verses are an inner voice or a devil on the shoulder and the choruses are the volcanic eruptions from deep within. Heavy shit. We know. Can’t help it.”

Check out ‘Hesitations’ below.

And for the penultimate track, ahead of the Slam Dunk festivities at this weekends festival, Trophy Eyes frontman John Floreani has dropped another track from his upcoming record, ‘Sin’ and this is where things get emotional!

Let’s go loud and energetic for this last track this week. ‘Mushroom Cloud’ is the latest offering from Of Mice & Men, which follows on from the post-apocalyptic narrative they once started with ‘How To Survive’ a few months ago.

On the track frontman Aaron Pauley has shared:

“I was pretty young when I became aware of the danger of spending too much time in my own head… My mind has never been a safe place for me to retreat to, and it’s something I have to consciously deal with on a daily basis. ‘Mushroom Cloud’ is our visceral representation of how it feels to be trapped, how it feels to be cut down by your own inner voice, how it feels to have nowhere to hide, and how it feels to be someone with a mind that’s as dangerous to themselves as the aftermath of an atomic weapon.”

And that’s it for another week of music video roundup. Don’t forget to check back next week at 4PM sharp for another countdown of ten of the best recent music videos to feast your eyes upon. There’s also new posts every day on the Almost anything Media so be sure to check out anything that might catch your eye.

Music Video Roundup 19/04/19

It’s 4PM on a Friday! This means it’s time for the music video roundup. If you’re new to either the blog or these music video roundup posts, this is how it works. Every week, I watch some of the best recently released music videos and compile them into a list for everyone’s viewing pleasure. They’re span across all the different genres, so expect something different for most of the tracks. Kicking off things are the Dallas, Texas quartet Polyphia. If you’re into mind-blowing and weird visuals, then you’ll be into it.

We’re going to shift gears next for the quartet Trade Wind who’re giving a look into maintaining relationships when you’re a touring musician.

Vocalist Jesse Barnett has said: “The idea behind the video was to show the perspective of what it can be like to date a musician or specifically someone like me whose music and work overlap and are very time consuming—especially with so much required travel. It’s about the challenges of making a relationship work and being mindful of your partner even when you’re balancing a lot of things at once. We decided to have the video play out in reverse because I often find myself thinking, ‘I wish I could go back the beginning and do it differently.’”

Next, on the countdown are Cheltenham indie-pop Trio Polary who’ve recently debuted their new single, ‘Bad Love’ and they must love the 80’s if this video is anything to go by.

Now, the Texas rockers Postcards From The Moon are back with a new video off their latest EP, ‘Me Without You’ where the lyrics are quite a millennial anthem.

Caleb Rangel (Vocals) has said:  “It’s about me not holding grudges for the way things ended and simply wishing her the best. I only want her to be happy. The lyrics were influenced by a Snapchat story. Another friend of mine was going through something similar and was posting photos with captions that really got to me. I used a lot of her original words as lyrics in this song, after getting the ‘okay’ from her of course.

Moving across to Australia for some Pop-Punk, the band have recently dropped a new video for their single ‘Carousel’ which will be on their forthcoming record, ‘Florescence’ which will be released May 5th via Fearless Records.

Anyone for Vegas? That’s the location of our next band for Falling In Reverse as they’ve got a glitchy video for ‘Drugs’ that also features gore and Corey Taylor of Slipknot. This completes their trilogy of standalone singles which are preceded by ‘Losing My Life’ and ‘Losing My Mind’ which also continues the story which brings them all together.

Seeing as everyone’s been loving Our Last Night recently, how about a new video from them? Well, their new video is taken from their latest record ‘Let Light Overcome’ which has the band performing in the different rooms of a castle as it builds around them in the sky. Kinda trippy if you ask me. Check it out below.

John Floreani’s upcoming record ‘Sin’ is getting closer and closer to its release date but before it actually is released, there’s a teaser for said record in the form of ‘Echoes’.

On the track, Floreani has said: Echoes’ is about the memories, love and emotion one leaves behind in a home after moving on. My partner and I lived in North Sydney for a while, and when she moved back to Texas, I had to go and clear the house of our furniture and belongings. As I walked through the house, I could see her dancing in the kitchen, drinking wine on the couch and inviting me to bed from the hallway.”

Who wants energy for their penultimate video? This next video is a live video from Bury Tomorrow and is taken from their most recent record of the same name, which was released last year. That’s right, it’s ‘Black Flame’.

And we’ve reached our final video for another week of the music video roundup. This last video is from the almighty Halestorm and has anyone wondered about how much of a badass Lzzy Hale really is? Well, check out their video for ‘Vicious’ below because you’ll see just what happens when their members are kidnapped and Lzzy has to come to their rescue and Kung Fu’s her way to their resue.

And that’s it for another week of music video roundup. Don’t forget to check back next week at 4PM sharp for another countdown of ten of the best recent music videos to feast your eyes upon.
