2000Trees Announce Postponement Of 2021 Festival

After hoping and hoping festivals would be returning in 2021, 2000trees have announced that they are postponing until 2022.

In a very honest statement as well as one that’s quite lengthy, the organisers of the festival have said that a combination of overseas bands unable to come over and a lack of insurance-based support from the UK government has meant that the best option is to come back next year.

But there’s some good news, they have also confirmed the first batch of bands who will be returning.

You can read it in full below:

“Over the last two weeks, it has become clear that, due to the ongoing COVID pandemic, bands based outside of the UK will not be able to travel to 2000trees in 2021.

We’ve had confirmation that around 20 of the biggest bands from our line up will not be coming to Upcote Farm this summer. This list, which is growing every week, includes our headliners Jimmy Eat World & Thrice, plus Knocked LooseYoung GunsThe Get Up KidsLaura Jane GraceAnti-Flag and Stray From The Path.

As a result, we have been forced to take the absolutely heart-breaking decision to postpone 2000trees to July 6-10 2022. Up until a week ago we were still furiously working behind the scenes to try make the festival happen. We really wanted (& needed) a party just as much as you this year. But after losing these bands, it’s clear that we are unable to give you the award-winning Trees experience that you know and love this year.

LACK OF GOVERNMENT BACK CANCELLATION INSURANCE

Bands dropping out is one thing, but to make matters worse, the UK government have repeatedly refused to provide any COVID cancellation insurance for the I’ve events industry.

Hundred of festivals have been asking for months for a Government-backed insurance policy allowing us to confidently host the event this year. We were hopeful that this insurance would be in place by now. Although they’ve provided a similar scheme for film & TV, the Government have completely let the live music industry down by refusing to back a simple insurance policy.

This would have cost them next to nothing unless the roadmap dates are changed (or we are put into another lockdown), & it’s the single most effective thing that could have done to get festivals back up and running this summer. Many independent festivals have already postponed because of this and we know of many other events that will shortly be announcing their postponement.

The obvious concern is that there may still be delays or changes to the COVID restrictions at the last minute. Without this vital COVID cancellation insurance, going ahead with this year’s event would simply be a huge financial risk, potentially jeopardising our long-term survival. So we were left with no other choice than to pull the plus before it was too late.

THE GOOD NEWS

The GOOD NEWS is that things are already looking amazing for 2000trees 2022. As not stands, we’ve very nearly sold out for next year and we are very excited to announce that the following bands from this year are now confirmed for 2022:

Jimmy Eat World
Thrice
The Amazons
Dinosaur Pile Up

Knocked Loose
The Get Up Kids
Dream State
Laura Jane Grace
Anti-Flag
Lonely The Brave
Stick To Your Guns
Deez Nuts
No Devotion
Dragged Unde
r

We also have a super exciting 3rd headliner to tell you all about real soon as well as over 100 more of the best bands playing across our 6 wonderful stages.

TICKETS

All 2021 tickets are automatically valid for next year’s festival and if you already have your ticket, you do not have to do anything to reserve your place. Your existing ticket is now your ticket to 2022.

As a small, independent business that’s been hit extremely hard by the pandemic, we really need as many people as possible to roll their tickets to next year, just so we can keep paying our staff and secure the long-term survival of 2000trees.

You kept us alive in 2020 when over 95% of you rolled your tickets to this year. If you could do the same for us again by holding onto your tickets until 2022, not only will uni get next year’s festival at 2019, but we will love you forever & promise to make the 2022 festival one to remember.

Thanks for reading and for your continued support, it means the world to us & we look forward to partying extra hard with you all next year.

James, Bren, Si, Andy, Mark and Rob”

Lonely The Brave Release Mini-Documentary, Share New Track, ‘Keeper’

Ahead of their record, ‘The Hope List’, which is set to be released on January 22nd 2021 Lonely The Brave have released a brand new track as well as a mini documentary.

In the film, the band take fans inside the beautiful Keeper, which was the first track they finished with their new frontman, Jack Bennett.

“Keeper was the first song we fully completed for the album and remains one of our favourites,” enthuses bassist Andrew Bushen. “It will always hold a special place as the beginning of the new chapter.”

But even more than just being significant for the band, Keeper also serves as a touching tribute to those who have helped us through this enormously tough time; as you’ll see in the doc, Lonely The Brave discuss their own personal ‘keepers’ throughout the pandemic (spoiler: there’s lots of lovely family stuff and cute dogs).

Discussing The Hope List as a whole, guitarist and founding member Mark Trotter says, “Given everything that’s happened to this band, it would have been remiss of us to try rushing into this or do something that wasn’t right. It takes time. We’ve been a band for over 10 years and stuck in our ways a lot. There has been a huge shift in dynamic now. It’s a completely different vibe from where we were before. There’s a renewed energy and a renewed focus. Everything feels very positive in the Lonely The Brave camp.”

You can watch ‘Keeper’ below.

Lonely The Brave Drop Haunting Track Off Upcoming Record

Lonely The Brave have a beautiful new track to share with the world today!

Similar to their previous drops, their latest effort, ‘Bright Eyes’ is on point thats rifftastic and layer after layer of emotion.

Jack Bennet (Vocals) says:

“Bright Eyes was a song that came together about the importance of listening. Are we just trying to one up each other? Are we really just pointing people out now? What happened to being conversational?! It was a look into social and targeted media and people simply adhering to it rather than looking or talking about evidence and facts and considering the other side of things.”

Lonely The Brave’s upcoming record, ‘The Hope List’ is set to be released on January 22nd 2021 via Easy Life Records.

Check out the track, ‘Bright Eyes’.

New Music Video Roundup 18/09/20

Hello everyone! Welcome back to the new music video roundup. We’re here for a roundup of ten of the best recently released music videos. They’re not all within the same genre and they’re all different in some way or another but that means that there’s a little something for everyone here but come on, let’s get down to the music!

And first up this week are the up and coming Superlove. The bands latest offering has been around where ‘THINK ABT U’ where the track originally aired on Alex Baker’s Fresh Blood on Kerrang! Radio and the video premiering on Rock Sound.

Seconds up this week are Lonely The Brave.

They’ve recently put out their new single ‘Open Door’ which comes off their upcoming record, ‘The Hope List’, which will be the first to feature Jack Bennett of Grumble Bee.

The record is set to be released January 22nd 2021.

Moving to a little Pop-Punk for the next choice in this weeks roundup we have the band Young Culture.

Signed to Rude Records, the band have their debut record being released on 16th October 2020 where this will be one of or the final track we’ll hear before the record drops.

Vocalist Alexander Magnan shares: “We’re so stoked to share something fun and new with all of you as well as announce our first album. We hope you have as much fun watching it as we did making it.”

“This album represents closing the chapter of youth and opening up to new discoveries,” he adds. “It is a recap of the past years for us as a group and individuals, and we want people to know that with this release, Young Culture is here and ready to go.”

Now it’s time for a cover.

Dinosaur Pile-Up have introduced us to a Sci-Fi world filled world for their rendition of Run DMC’s ‘It’s Tricky’.

“We basically wanted a chance to make our own Beastie Boys/Busta Rhymes esque video, but for a Run DMC song. So when Amazon Music kindly agreed to put a video into production we were like OK LET’S GOOOO!!

‘It’s Tricky’ is such a fun song, so we wanted to make sure the video wasn’t taking itself too seriously and that the end result would be a party. We also wanted to include us getting abducted by aliens (because why not?), us dressed up AS THE ACTUAL ALIENS ABDUCTING OURSELVES because I’m into that ‘same person playing both roles’ thing, a scene that kind of reminded us of Foo Fighter’s ‘Monkey Wrench’ video (because it’s cool as hell) and as much 90s sci-fi special effects as we were allowed to include because we were brought up on that shit.

I put this to director Ralph Fuller (GrainFreeze) and basically said “hey do you wanna have a shit load of fun making a video about aliens?” and he was instantly sold. However, when we turned up to shoot on the day, we found ourselves stood in a legit movie studio with seemingly countless people running around with 40 foot green screens and back drops of the Grand Canyon and shit.

I realised that it had all gotten horrendously out of hand, and that our little idea of “let’s make a fun/stupid Beastie Boys music video about us getting abducted by aliens” had turned into a legit Busta Rhymes music video that was actually gonna look really really sick. I then instinctively ate a chimichanga that was way too hot for me, donned a news anchor suit with the actual universe printed on it, and went on to deliver a performance many critics are describing as ‘kind of ok in a Ted Danson kind of way’. All in all, it was a huge success.”

Shifting into the fearsome duo Nova Twins, we have ‘Play Fair’.

This is a cut from the recent debut record, ‘Who Are The Girls’ which was released through Jason Butler’s (Letlive, Fever 333) Wreckords Crew, they explain:

“It’s the ultimate revenge tune, about powering through any hurdles that stand in our way. It’s a call to arms; rise against those who try to hold you back! If life hands you an unfair game, don’t play fair.”

Now we have someone new whom you might now now yet but you will, here we have the indie Singer/Songwriter Beabadoobee with the latest release before her debut full length record, ‘Fake It Flowers’ is released via Dirty Hit on October 16th 2020.

Check out ‘Worth It’ below.

Now, time for some Irish Post-Punk. You’re reading that correctly.

Coming off their recently released record, ‘A Hero’s Death’, ‘A Lucid Dream’ was the fourth track off the record and receives a video directed by Jordan Martin.

Now, we’re taking a massive left turn here and go more hardcore. at least ten times by the looks of this next track from Nasty.

This is their track for Menace which is their title track for their upcoming record which is going to be released next week (25th September) via Century Media Records.

For our penultimate video this week, we’re heading off to Sweeden.

The video for their song ‘The Future Of Warfare’, was completely created using building blocks and pays tribute to The Battle of Flers-Courcelette, which took place on September 15th 1916, and you can watch it below.

The band’s ninth studio album, ‘The Great War’, is out now via Nuclear Blast Records.

And for the finale this week, we’ve selected the Grammy award winning heavy hitting foursome Mastodon.

‘Fallen Torches’, a track from their rarities compilation, ‘Medium Rarities’, which is also out today.

‘Medium Rarities’ celebrates the band’s 20th anniversary, containing a number of covers, instrumentals, b-sides, live recordings, and more.

‘Fallen Torches’ was recorded in Atlanta last year, and features guest vocals from Scott Kelly of Neurosis.

And that’s it for another week of a countdown of the best singles out in the world in the last week. Be sure to check back next-time for another round of great music videos. If you have any suggestions for me to check out, be sure to send an email or message us via the socials on Facebook or Twitter!

Lonely The Brave Unveil Jack Bennett As New Vocalist

Cambridge’s very own Lonely The Brave have been a little quiet as of late. The main reason being that they’ve been spending time searching for a replacement vocalist as David Jakes left the band in March.

Now they have turned to Jack Bennett as their frontman, who has performed under the name Grumble Bee for several years.

In terms of their choice, they couldn’t have gotten a better person aboard if they tried! I’ve met Jack a few times and seen him play. He is one of the most genuine and down to earth man I’ve had the fortune of interviewing in the last nine months and I couldn’t be happier to see him join Lonely the Brave.

Here is the band’s full statement on him joining the band.

Lonely The Brave Vocalist Daves Jakes Leaves Band

Sad news is coming from Lonely The Brave camp as their vocalist, Dave Jakes is leaving the band.

Here’s his statement.

“Hello all,

I’m writing this with the news that unfortunately i’ve decided to call it a day with Lonely The Brave. I’m afraid the problems i’ve been having, with touring and playing live, have made things really difficult concerning my mental health side of things. Sorry I couldn’t push on through it.

To the LTB boys… Thank you fellas for the amazing time I had with you! All the very best with the band going forward. It was a helluva ride. Thanks Wez, James and Mease.

Most of all, thank you to everyone I saw at the gigs and spent their money on the music I was part of. It meant so much! x

‘I’ll be the sky and you be the bird.’

Dave x”

And the band have also issued a statement.

“It is with heavy hearts that we announce Dave’s departure from Lonely The Brave. As a brother in music, vocalist and co-founder of the band, he has been integral to everything we’ve done. These times have been life-defining for all of us and it’s been a privilege to have shared them with one of the best singers of our generation.

We will miss Dave greatly as a musical collaborator but remain great friends – health and well-being have to be a priority so we fully understand and respect his decision. We’ll all be eternally grateful for the support we have received over the last few years, we will cherish the memories of sharing a stage with Dave, and sharing the experience with everyone who has come to see us.

This is not the end of Lonely The Brave. The four of us will continue with a new vocalist and we plan to begin the search as soon as possible. We shall return to the live arena when the time is right and will be continuing to work on new material in the meantime.

Thank you for all the love and support, see you very soon.

Mark, Mo, Ross and Bush”

Music Videos 15/9/17

Now it’s another music video post! All the best from the last week in one convenient post. Let’s get started!

Up first is the band Northlane. This is from their newest album, ‘Mesmer’ which is out now via UNFD. This is Colourwave.

Next is Norma Jean and it has been a year since the release of their seventh studio album titled ‘Polar Similar’ and on its anniversary they have released a video for the albums opening track, ‘I. The Planet’. Check it out below.

Next is the new duo The Hexans which features Ash Costello of New Years Day and Rob Zombie’s Matt Montgomery from with a new track Black Cat Bone. It’s taken from their debut album ‘Party Monsters’ which is set to drop October 13th via Another Century Records.

Let’s keep it going with Death From Above and their new track ‘Freeze Me’. It’s off the duo’s third studio album, ‘Outrage! Is Now’.

Pressing on with Lonely The Brave is their new track ‘Things Will Matter’. It’s taken off the reworked version of their 2016 record of the same name which is set to drop November 10th.

Adding to the videos is the Texan trio Seeker who’ve dropped a dark video to accompany their track, ‘Welcome Death’.

The next band comes from Pop-Rocks in Somerset, this is Pretty Little Enemy with a track off their new EP, ‘Second Load’. Here’s ‘Collide’.

Fancy more Stone Sour? What about Corey Taylor on a moped? Then you need to watch the new Stone Sour video for the track, ‘Rose Red Violent Blue (This Son Is dumb & So Am I).

Next is new music and it comes from Knuckle Punk. This is taken from their upcoming album ‘Shapeshifter’. This is ‘Double Helix’.

Now, this next video comes from the inspiration of The Witch and The Village. Check out Circa Survive’s new track from the upcoming album, ‘The Amulet’. Here’s Premonition of the Hex.

And here is the penultimate video! It’s brand new Fall Out Boy and if their new album is anything to go by, it’s looking quite sinister. Check out The Last Of The Real Ones, off their upcoming release MANIA below.

And we’ve reached the final video of the week. This comes from Machine Gun Kelly and his amazing track in an equally amazing video for ‘Let You Go’. This is from his latest album, Bloom which is available via Bad Boy/ Interscope.
