New Music Video Roundup 25/09/20

Hello everyone! Welcome back to the new music video roundup. We’re here for a roundup of ten of the best recently released music videos. They’re not all within the same genre and they’re all different in some way or another but that means that there’s a little something for everyone here but come on, let’s get down to the music!

First up in this weeks music video roundup, we have the Pop-Punk phenoms Makeout.

Kyle says, “‘Home’ is my first song and video release with the band. We co-wrote the song with Jayden Seeley [of With Confidence] and it was produced by Matt Holmes with some help from Travis Barker and Matt Malpass. We knew right away that we loved the track and the reception from our fans has been great so when it came time to do the video we wanted to make sure we did something different.”

He adds, “The question we had was: ‘how can we make a cool and clever video while being quarantined and while social distancing?’ It was not a typical scenario. There were only a few of us allowed on set and everyone had to have masks on but it really came together when we decided to use an old 8mm camera and to project the scenes of the band playing on the wall behind me. Our director Kyle Cogan and his team at Simian Design really helped conceptualize this and bring it all to life.”

Next up we’re going to have a change of pace for it in the form of Brutus. the track is taken from the bands brand new live record ‘Live In Ghent’ out on 23rd October through Hassle Records.

Capturing this incendiary outfit in their hometown of Ghent in front of 750 of their most die hard fans at this special, sold out show, is seen by the band as a way to balance out the fact a year of touring has been taken away from them  and all musicians.

On the release for the video of ‘All Along’, the band say:

‘We released All Along on November 21, 2016. It was the first song of our debut album BURST, which came out early 2017. Back then, we had absolutely no idea about what would happen. We had no big plan, not even big dreams. We had played a hundred shows mostly in Belgium, when all of a sudden there was this warm independent label called Hassle Records and some guys called Wez and Mease who wanted to release our first album BURST. All Along was the first song out. Our world changed. 2018 and 2019 were all about touring all over Europe and even the USA and writing NEST. We had to strip down day jobs and cut in on family life to follow this rising dream. We’ve learned that our music touches a lot of people and we are truly honoured by that. All Along is definitely the song that got everything rolling. That’s why All Along will always be a special song to us. Hope you’ll love this live version as much as we do.’

Moving to Melbourne, Australia for the next choice in the roundup we have the hard hitting Alpha Wolf. They’re a band who don’t shy away from the darker parts of the human soul and with their latest single, ‘Restricted (R18+)’, vocalist Lochie Keogh stared as deeply into the void as he could, to face the monster inside us all.

He commented: “Restricted is about selfishly bearing the burden and weight of something terrible that’s happened to someone you love. While you struggle with feelings of helplessness and the inability to protect those you care about, your mind wanders and fixates on exacting revenge so brutal and heinous that you can no longer differentiate between the monsters out there, and the one inside yourself.”

Guitarist Scott Simpson dove deeper into the formation of this track and that moment where everything just clicked. “The main ideas for this song were started when Mitch came down for a writing session in my studio. We knew we wanted to push the boundaries of how heavy we could take Alpha Wolf. As it came together musically we knew it was heading in that direction, but as soon the vocals were added onto the track it just went to that next level, and fast became a favourite of everyone in the band.”

‘Restricted (R18+)’ marks the fourth single off Alpha Wolf’s upcoming sophomore album ‘a quiet place to die’ which will be released via Greyscale Records / Sharptone Records on September 25th.

We’re headed to Brazil for the heavy giants Sepultura with a cut off their latest full length record, ‘Quadra’.

The environmentally conscious video was created in collaboration Amazon Frontlines, a non-profit organisation based in the Upper Amazon that leverages technology, legal advocacy, and movement building to support indigenous peoples to defend their rights to land, life, and cultural survival in the Amazon Rainforest.

Keeping the metal alive with Pallbearer as out next choice in a video to accompany ‘The Quicksand Of Existing’, which is off their upcoming record, ‘Forgotten Days’.

On the release, Joseph Rowland (Bass) says:

“As we strive to be, the forces of entropy perpetually pull us down into a state of being unmade. The body degrades; the mind and memories fray into unwoven threads, no longer connected to the rich fabric of the self. Choices made upon our separate and conjoined paths may find us engulfed in a mire of our unmaking. I wanted this song to face this reality with a grim determination.”

Fit For A King have released their utterly devastating new record via Solid State. Check it out because devastating is the right word for it.

Off the record, ‘The Path’ is an amazing track off the record and it is one track that makes the band what they are.

Next up is one of the best British kings of rock. Jamie Lenman in fact as it’s the latest look into his mini record, ‘King Of Clubs’ which dropped today.

“‘Like Me Better’ was one of the tracks I added to the album when I decided I wanted to make something with a bit more depth than an EP. I had to go against my instincts and trust the strength of the song in order to not fuss it up or make it more complex than it needed to be – just three chords and a slow beat. I ended up whacking a big riff at the end of it cos I love big riffs but otherwise it’s a very simple tune, and probably better for it.

Lyrically it’s about things that repulse you at first but later you come to appreciate. This could apply to food or music or anything that provokes a strong reaction but in this instance it’s definitely about people and physical attraction. When people talk about having a secret crush, it’s usually about someone who looks a bit odd but nevertheless has a certain something about them. The whole record is about complex, contradictory and potentially uncomfortable feelings so it fits right in.”

California’s on our radar next for Touché Amoré and the follow on from their July single ‘Limelight’. ‘Lament’ is the title track off their upcoming record, set to be released on October 9th 2020 via Epitaph Records.

Oh we forgot to mention, Manchester Orchestra’s frontman Andy Hull has a guest appearance as well!

And for the penultimate choice of the roundup, following on from the release of ‘No Good Left to Give’, Californian stars Movements have a video for ‘Santiago Peak’ which I know isn’t a music video technically but the visual style is one that needs to be watched right now.

Lastly we had to go British for the sheer passion this video gives. You Me At Six are well and truly back in the spotlight now with their upcoming record, ‘Suckpunch’ just been announced and their latest single ‘Beautiful Way’ finds the band breaking ground into something which is a little different but all the same amazing to hear.

And that’s it for another week of a countdown of the best singles out in the world in the last week. Be sure to check back next-time for another round of great music videos. If you have any suggestions for me to check out, be sure to send an email or message us via the socials on Facebook or Twitter!

New Music Roundup 24/07/20

Hey everyone. First off, I have to say apologies on my end for no New Music or Music Video Roundup last week, life got in the way of things for me when I got some more hours at my regular job which added to my other responsibilities. But now, we’re back to normal with things.

We’re here for a roundup of five of the best recently released tracks and sometimes a little information that comes with them! They’re not all within the same genre and they’re all different in some way or another but that means that there’s a little something for everyone here but come on, let’s get down to the music!

First up this week are some homegrown heroes in the form of Amongst Thieves. The Post-Hardcore quintet are back with a vengence, having newly recruited bassist Mark Thompson.

Check out ‘Deathwish’ below.

Moving to The Dangerous Summer now with their first release as a band since going as an independant band.

They also posted the following.

In March of 2020 we fulfilled our last record contract.

After a long back and forth with labels, we have decided to go independent. We now have full control and ownership for the first time in our careers.

Please join us in this new adventure into the unknown.”

Check out ‘Fuck Them All’ below.

Now we move to the Australian dark alternative pop artist AViVA with the recent release ‘Evil’.

‘Evil’ is the first single from the second phase of her all encompassing world of music, visual art & forthcoming book. AViVA has already surpassed many of her peers with over 1.8 BILLION streams to date- completely independently.

AViVA’s ‘OUTSiDERS’ who have been part of this special world have found power in the music which explores the challenges of friendship, feelings of isolation and indeed, being an outsider.

New single EViL’ is, on the surface, a non-apology to someone who has done her wrong. The song progresses with the signature vocals and heavy drums that her fans have come to love.

“The song is a ‘heat of the moment’ song. That feeling when someone has screwed you over in some way and you’re so angry you feel like nothing is off the cards. That’s happened to everybody. I think the biggest lesson is that time heals all wounds and the things that mattered so much then, pass and don’t matter anymore. There’s a lyric ‘won’t save you now cause we’re not friends’ which is in reference to how often people cut you out of their life until they need something, then all of a sudden the pop back up.  It’s also ironic for both me, AViVA and the character in my book, Teddy. We always end up saving people regardless of what they’ve done to us.”

Expect much more to come from AviVA as you fall under her spell and enter her wicked world.

Next, with a few changes in their lineup as of late, Pop-Rockers Makeout have a new iteration of tracks on the way. Starting with, ‘Home’ this is the first of their material to feature Kyle Dee (Ex- The Frantic and bassist AJ Khah (Ex- Sleep On It).

Dee has said the following on the release.

“‘Home’ is about being completely drained from giving your all to a dead end relationship. It’s about wanting to build a life with somebody and being fed false promises of a picture-perfect future.”

And finally we have something a little harder but loads of fun. To celebrate the streaming numbers for Falling In Reverse, the band have dropped a previously unreleased track.

Thanks to the release of their ‘Popular Monster’ track, the band saw a huge increase in their streaming numbers, which resulted in their all time artist streams surpassing 1 billion in the US and 15 million in the EU.

‘Carry On’ was originally receoreded for their 2017 record, ‘Coming Home’ but didn’t make the final cut for it.

Now, you have the track below and is the final track for this week’s new music roundup.

And that’s it for another week of a countdown of the best singles out in the world in the last week. Be sure to check back next-time for another round of great music videos. Next up is Eat Your Heart Out, featuring Movement’s Vocalist Patrick Miranda. It’s taken from the band’s upcoming EP ‘Mind Games’ and set to drop December 1st via Fearless Records.

Now, this next video is a bit glitchy but it really works. It’s a beautifully shot video and a great track from Movements. Here’s Daylily.

COming up is one of the best Pop-Punk tracks I’ve heard in a while. The video documents and shows some of the band’s life on the road, supporting the release of their full-length record, ‘The Good Life’. Check out their track Childish below.

Now we come to Lightcliffe, whose new video is a precursor to the band’s EP, For A While which dropped on November 24th via Failure By Design Records.

Now, this huge band recently stormed across the UK in support of their recent record, ‘Villains’. Now, Queens Of The Stone Age have dropped a new video ‘The Way You Used To Do’, which debuted on Apple Music a few months ago.

We’re going to go to an up and coming band next, in the form of Yonaka. They’re dreaming big and if anything shows, this video, Bubblegum has them shooting for the stars!

Now, this is the latest from legends Green Day. It comes off their compilation record, 2000 Light Years Away but this is a track which was written for the record. Here’s 2000 Light Years Away.

Now, Paramore are doing quite well for themselves. They’re still riding a high off their latest record, ‘After .Laughter’ which dropped earlier in the year and are set for a run of dates in the UK in January but if you’re not content with that, then check out this video for Fake Happy.

Finally are UK Pop-Punks kings Neck Deep. This is their latest video off their record, The Peace And The Panic which proves to be another one of their finest tracks to date. Here’s Parachute.

And that’s it for another round of music videos. Don’t forget to check back next Friday for another list of ten!
