Obey By BMTH & Yungblud Announced As Annie Mac’s Hottest Record Of The Year

The huge single ‘Obey’ by Bring Me The Horizon and Yungblud has been announced as the Hottest Record Of The Year 2020 beating Billie Eilish and more to the title.

The track was released in September 2020 with Annie Mac calling the song “a really exciting record from the outset”.

“Two artists at totally different stages in their careers collaborating for the first time, huge mutual respect between them, and both of them pushing the boundaries of what they already do,” she continues. “The combination of YUNGBLUD’s enthusiasm and energy, and Oli’s experience and vision makes this track a perfect collaboration. It’s also a really big moment for rock music and I’m really happy that a track like this could win Hottest Record of the Year.”

“We’re so grateful,” says Horizon frontman Oli Sykes. “It’s incredible, absolutely incredible. I think it’s a big moment for us and I think it feels like an exciting moment for rock. It’s probably been a really long time since a rock song made it to a position like this so it’s super cool. Amazing way to end the year so thank you for all the support.”

YUNGBLUD adds: “What the hell, that’s so crazy! Rock’n’roll is having a good year this year… Oli literally text me like, ‘We got it, we got it!’ We were like 15-year-olds!”

Check Out Amy Lee And Oli Sykes On Their Collaboration

Bring Me The Horizon are continuing their inside look at their ‘Post Human: Survival Horror EP’, with the latest behind the scenes video going in on the closing track of the EP, ‘One Day The Only Butterflies Left Will Be In Your Chest As You March Towards Your Death’ which features Amy Lee of Evanescence.

“One thing that was really cool about this process working back and forth with Oli [Sykes] was we both encouraged and pushed each other to sing and work kind of differently,” Amy says at the beginning of the video. “It started with the first time I laid my vocal down and sent it over, he encouraged me to sing certain parts of the song less; more about breath and less about power. That is challenging for me. I really like that style but it’s not my comfort zone – it’s easier for me to harness my voice when I just blast it.”

“I told her about it being kind of a love song between the planet and mankind and she absolutely loved the idea,” continues Oli, “and said it reminded her of what their kind of message they were working on for their new album. She wrote some lyrics for the last part that she said she didn’t like, and I was just like, ‘No, they’re fucking sick; they’re perfect.’ ”

Hence the name- Church.

On this, Oli has said “Our building has incredible heritage and I wanted to develop a barcade concept that truly celebrated and developed that legacy. We wanted something that fitted with William John Hale’s original and stunning design but provided something to wow 21st century customers.
