Celtic Punk Pirates Paddy And The Rats Release New Single, ‘Everybody Get Up’

Boisterous Hungarian Celtic-punk pirates PADDY AND THE RATS have released their latest cut, “Everybody Get Up”, from their sixth album, From Wasteland To Wonderland. The gripping new track invites the listener to join in a celebratory drink on the high seas. “Everybody Get Up” promises catchy dance and sing-along tunes, delivering another taste of the upcoming album, out April 29 via Napalm Records.

PADDY AND THE RATS on “Everybody Get Up”:
“We shot quite an unusual video for our new single, ‘Everybody Get Up’. The song itself sticks out of the line a little bit, because it has a kind of hip hop vibe like our childhood favourite bands, the Beastie Boys and Run DMC, and that is not typical of us. We wanted to visualize it, so we are wearing absolute different style clothing in the clip, summoning the New York hip hop and hardcore bands outfit of the 80’s. We made a very cool and funny mood video that can’t be taken seriously, at all. So many bad things happened to us recently that we needed some happiness, at last. So we took our teenage ourselves out again and were just fooling around.”

Celtic Punks Paddy And The Rats Announce New Record & First Single, ‘After The Rain’

PADDY AND THE RATS have announced their upcoming album From Wasteland To Wonderland, out April 29, 2022 via Napalm Records!

With their mix of pub tunes and punk rock accompanied by Celtic accents, PADDY AND THE RATS welcome the listener into a blustery world of pirates and sailors abound with their new offering. From Wasteland To Wonderland builds upon the energetic mood of its predecessor, Riot City Outlaws, resulting in a mighty seaworthy successor!

PADDY AND THE RATS on “After The Rain”:
“This album became very important to us because this is the last thing that Bernie recorded in his life.
We’d like to dedicate the first single of the album to Bernie and to express all our emotions through the song we release first. That’s why we’ve chosen ‘After The Rain’. It’s a sad song but it also has a fully positive vibe. Sadness and desperation are there through the whole song, but meanwhile, you can feel something powerful when the pipe and the accordion come in at the drop. It conveys the feeling that you have to be strong and you have to move on. The last line in the chorus says: ‘After the rain, sunshine will never be the same’.
I think this is the essence of the song. The absence of Bernie will be more endurable with time, but nothing will ever be the same without him.”

Celtic Punks Paddy And The Rate Reveal New Video For ‘After The Rain’

Following the announcement of their new album, From Wasteland To Wonderland (out April 29, 2022 via Napalm Records), and the release of an accompanying lyric video for first single, “After The Rain”, the band is following up with an official music video for the track, as promised. The clip embraces with nostalgia and offers a preview of the future, where the band members can be witnessed in 20 years. They’ve grown old but reunite once more to play together in the impressive landscape of their home country, Hungary.

“After The Rain” delves into one of the most difficult periods of the band’s history, as a heartfelt dedication to accordion player Bernie Bellamy (Bernát Babicsek). Bellamy sadly passed away at the start of 2022, just months before the upcoming release of From Wasteland To Wonderland, which they had worked hard on and looked forward to releasing together. The ballad celebrates Bellamy with a longing melody accented by violin elements, ensuring that he will sail forever in our hearts.
