Palaye Royale Announces Livestream For Black Lives Matter

Bands all over have been attending the Black Lives Matter protests and putting on all sorts of auctions, and benefits for the movements where the latest band to be doing this is Palaye Royale.

The band have put promotion of their latest record, ‘The Bastards’ on hold, where the band are going to be hosting a livestream where the proceeds are being donated.

“May 29 was meant to be start of one of the most important weeks of our career thus far due to the release of our new album, The Bastards,” they say in a statement.

In addition to the livestream announcement, the following was posted to their Twitter:

“Due to the tragic events that have escalated in the United States and now the world we made the easy decision of switching all our focus, efforts and purpose to trying to make a small change by going to peaceful protest and stopping all promotion about our album to bring all attention to something much bigger than us. We are done with the racists agenda of America and have been for all our lives.

“With this all being said we appreciate the love and support you all have shown towards Black Lives Matter. Your voices are loud, they are being heard – the movement can’t and won’t stop here. We need to be the change for all future generations to follow.

“We are currently living through a moment where every single person must use their voice and platform to demand justice and stand up to inequality. At this time we will be postponing any content about ourselves and the album, only focusing on achieving justice and change!

“This must be talked about, we have the power for revolution. Choose love over hate, compassion over ego, kindness instead of racism. Treat each other with respect, help one another and stay safe.”

Music Video Roundup 26/07/19

It’s 4PM on a Friday! This means it’s time for the music video roundup. If you’re new to either the blog or these music video roundup posts, this is how it works. Every week, I watch some of the best recently released music videos and compile them into a list for everyone’s viewing pleasure. They’re span across all the different genres, so expect something different for most of the tracks. The first band on today’s roundup are the ever fantastic Sum 41 and their phenomenal ’45 (A Matter Of Time)’ single where it is a statement from frontman Deryck Whibley on how he feels about the current state of the world.

Moving into the glamourous Palaye Royale, they never had much time to recharge from the release of ‘Fucking With My Head’ as they immediately released ‘Nervous Breakdown’ literally a week after!

How about some Canadians next? Single Mothers have a brand new video out for ‘Metropolis (Cultivated Wasteland)’.

On the track, Drew Thomson (vocals) shared:

“It’s a collaboration between Peter Landi and myself. I had recently moved apartments and my old landlord had sold the building we lived in and kicked everyone out. There was a real estate boom and we were all seemingly in the middle of it.

Moving straight across the pond to Ireland, Fangclub has released a video for the title track of their second record, ‘Vulture Culture’.

On the record as a whole, Steven King (Vocals / Guitar) shared:

“It’s a culmination of a lot of chaos and inner mental violence which almost capsized the band. Making this record got us through the fog and we have a new lease of life. The energy is real, the chaos makes sense and the violence is fuel for the fire.”

Moving again straight across to Wales, the progressive Post-Hardcore Dream State are now a foursome as their Bassist Danny Rayer has since departed which means their latest single ‘Primrose’ which is expected to be a part of their upcoming to be announced debut record is the first release without Rayer.

On ‘Primrose’ vocalist CJ shared:

“Sometimes life will put you to the test, we can find ourselves in these cycles and they present themselves in different forms, when I thought I had broken one of mine, I found myself right back at square one, I was in pursuit of pleasure despite the negative outcomes and I found myself trapped again.

Sometimes we have to fall and fall to truly awaken and conquer our egos. There’s still so much we have to learn about ourselves and this is a chance to express my journey and open the door to anyone fighting the same demons. We want you to see that through darkness, light can be found.”

Keeping things hardcore but going a little harder, have you wondered what Ice Nine Kills are like live? Well, for this video you can! They’ve also recruited members of Reel Big Fish to help them out where the atmosphere? It’s amazing. Check out ‘IT Is The End’ below.

Switching it up to some Lo-fi Punk for Cultdreams next, this duo has a message in ‘Not My Generation” where they confront misogyny as well as right-wing politics.

Lucinda Livingstone (Vocals / Guitar) has shared:

“I see men ignore misogyny, as if it’s not their problem, to act upon their sisters when they get touched inappropriately. While everyone is still suffering, the country that we live in is fucking everything up. Politics and right-wing shit. Not letting other people in. Ignoring what matters, whilst investing in ignorance.”

Heading to the south of England now, and I mean bottom of the country Plymouth as we bring you, metalcore newcomers, Moorhaven and the bands newest single, ‘Land Of Lies’.

Lewis Garry (Guitar) shared: The message to take away is kind of that we’re all these messy, flawed, complicated, sometimes ugly, sometimes pretty people, and you shouldn’t feel pressured to have (or appear to have) a perfect life, because there will be people there for you when things get tough.”

Kentucky here we come! Not literally but this is the location of the penultimate band in the form of post-hardcore trio Too Close To Touch who’ve debuted a video for ‘F.I.N.E’, the band latest single which is the first new music since I’m Hard To Love, But So Are You, Vol. 1’ EP.

Lastly, Asking Alexandria. They’re back for a ride. Fans have recently been calling a phone number where cryptic teasers had everyone hearing, “The violence is coming”.

It’s here. The violence has come. This also marks the first new music for the band since the release of their 2017 self-titled record, if you don’t include acoustic versions they also released in 2018.

Check out ‘The Violence’ below.

And that’s it for another week of music video roundup. Don’t forget to check back next week at 4PM sharp for another countdown of ten of the best recent music videos to feast your eyes upon. There’s also new posts every day on the Almost anything Media so be sure to check out anything that might catch your eye.

Palaye Royale’s Sebastian Danzig Was Arrested “For Throwing A Coffee On A Guy”

Yeah, this happened in the last week.

Palaye Royale’s guitarist Sebastian Danzig was arrested in Worcester, Massachusetts last week according to the bands Instagram page.

The photo was posted along with the following caption:

“Sebastian Danzig just got arrested outside the venue. Let’s see if he makes it to tomorrow sold out show! #FreeSebastian Story: A guy in a car tried to hit mishka (adorable little dog) with his car. Sebastian threw his coffee at him. Later he was charged with assault with a deadly weapon.”

Also, both Remmington Leith and Emerson Barrett have made statements on their bands Instagram Story.

According to their reports, Sebastian retaliated when a driver attempted to run over one of their dogs, arrested “for throwing coffee on a guy”, and then charged with “assault with a deadly weapon:.

Enter Shikari Make Statement On Abusive Behaviour Toward Palaye Royale And Their Fans

Following an incident at Enter Shikari’s show in Southend which involved Palaye Royale, the band have made a statement addressing the increasingly abusive behaviour towards Palaye Royale and their fans on the current run of shows.

In an incident, last night, a member of the audience intentionally sought to trouble the crowd by abusing Palaye Royale and their fans, which resulted in a member of the band to defend the fans who were in attendance. The person in question was apparently violent towards venue security and was then escorted off the premises.

In a lengthy statement made by Enter Shikari was posted on their private Facebook group. One fan has screenshot the statement and posted said statement to Twitter, and the whole statement has been reproduced in full below.

You can read Enter Shikari full statement below.

“(due to it being a busy show night, and management being out the country and unavailable, we are closing the comments on his statement.
if you have questions, you can always email or tweet us)

Last night in Southend, there was an incident where one member of the audience someone who was – from what we can gather from talking to several people involved – there specifically to cause trouble) who was abusing Palaye Royale with highly offensive language, crushing young fans in the front rows and generally making the early part of the night unpleasant for everyone around him.

At the end of Palaye Royale’s set, their drummer went to the barrier to check on fans and (rightly or wrongly, but, adrenalised by what had happened, maybe understandable) confront the individual, an out-of-context video clip of the proceedings catches part of the exchange, but fails to tell the whole story.

the person in question was taken aside, where he proceeded to threaten security, issue extremely violent threats towards Palaye Royale’s merch person, and then ended with a flourish of a threat to burn the building down as he was escorted from the venue.

it goes without saying that we do not, never have, and never will, condone that sort of behaviour. and we will always endeavour to have it squashed as quickly and quietly as possible.

A lot of you know us and our crew, you can spot our crew by their crew shirts, if you ever see anything of this sort, just mention to one of them and it will be looked into.

but, something else we cannot condone is the repeated ramping up of abusive behaviour against Palaye Royale and their fans. A very small group of Enter Shikari [fans] have taken it upon themselves to encourage online bullying of Palaye Royale fans, orchestrated verbal abuse of the band at shows, and the specific intent to make Palaye Royale’s set as unpleasant an experience as possible for their fans. We will not tolerate this.

If you plan on disrupting ANY part of the night, then you plan on ruining the WHOLE night (at least for someone), and we won’t stand for someone coming into our house and deliberately trying to cause trouble; a vast majority of the Palaye Royale fans we have engaged with are lovely people, exactly the same as the vast majority of Enter Shikari fans we know or meet along the way. Many of them ARE also Enter Shikari fans. For them to be treated as somehow “other” is pretty much against every aspect of our band’s ethos.

While we acknowledge that online attention is seductive, we ask you to not share / engage with tweets or commentary designed to disrupt or enflame situations (re-tweeting tweets that start with the word “apparently”, when you were not at a specific show or witness to a specific incident, is not helpful to anyone, except those who have an agenda to deliberate disrupt the shows).

there is no doubt that last night’s incident is an almost direct result of the attempts of a couple of individuals to stir up drama and resentment where none should naturally exist.

We also acknowledge that Palaye Royale aren’t to everyone’s tastes. But Enter Shikari aren’t to everyone’s tastes either, and we went through our own share of this on support tours in our earlier days. Imagine how we would have felt then, had this been happening to us?

It’s a rock show. ‘Rock’ is already treated as a marginal art form, we shouldn’t create division within it.

We maintain that Enter Shikari shows should always be a safe space for anyone who wants to come and enjoy music. We hope that we can now put this all behind us, and move forward positively with what has otherwise been an extremely fun tour’

Thank you”

Palaye Royale Have Found A Replacement Venue For London Show

Okay, so the other day Palaye Royale shared the devastating news that their headline show at Koko, was closed by the City of London due to the structure of the building being out of code.

This left the date up in the air but now, a solution has been found!

The band will be playing the Electric Brixton venue on Sunday 7th October with all tickets purchased valid for the new event.

Speaking about the venue change, Palaye Royale vocalist Remington Leith has said “It was always a dream for Palaye Royale to have the chance to play Koko and sell it out. Well, you, The Soldiers of the Royal Council, made that dream come true.

But unfortunately due to circumstances way beyond our control, we just found out that we have to move the show from KOKO to a new venue. On top of all that, we learned that there weren’t any proper venues available on Friday to fit everyone that purchased tickets…so we had to find the best-suited venue that was free on the nearest date.

So now we will be playing our show on Sunday, October 07 at Brixton Electric—we hope to see every one of you there. And now we have 100 more tickets available for this show—so if you couldn’t come before, now is your chance to see us play our biggest show yet!”

Palaye Royale No Longer Have A London Venue To Perform At

Oh no. This is part good news but part awful news.

Palaye Royale have sold out their London headline show! Massive congratulations there to the band. It’s set to take place on October 5th at Koko, London but now the venue has been closed indefinitely due to the building being out of code.

At the moment, the band are working to find a replacement venue.

Palaye Royale Cancel Festival Appearance

Oh no!

Palaye Royale have had to cancel their appearance on the upcoming Reeperbarn Festival in Hamburg on September 22nd, but it’s for a good reason!

They’ve said:

We are playing a show in Las Vegas that evening and it isn’t just any old show, it will bring technology to a new level.

This will be life changing for some individuals that have never had the chance to experience a concert before.
