Waterparks & You Me At Six To Play Leeds & Reading Festival

There’s been a last minute addition to Leeds Festival.

With Machine Gun Kelly and Fever 333 among two of the acts due to miss the event, Waterparks and You Me At Six have signed up to play 2021 iteration of the festival.

In addition, Creeper have announced they have had to drop out due to positive COVID cases in their touring party.

“We are sad to announce that due to members of our touring party testing positive for COVID and in keeping with current government guidelines, Creeper will no longer be performing at Reading & Leeds festival this weekend.

As it stands we are still appearing at Slam Dunk festival next week. We apologise to those looking forward to seeing us and hope you understand and respect the decision.”

Waterparks are set to headline The Pit at Reading on Saturday and Leeds on Sunday.

And You Me At Six are set to play the Main Stage At Reading on Saturday and Leeds on the Sunday.

OVer ninety plus acts have been announced for the upcoming 2021 iteration of the Leeds And Reading Festival.

Yungblud, Neck Deep and Fever 333 will be joined by Boston Manor, Creeper, Machine Gun Kelly, Spiritbox and more!

Also, I’m going to throw in a guess that MGK and Yungblud will pop in and out for each others sets? Only because they have made some huge tracks together and they’re right next to each other on the lineup!

Leeds & Reading Festival 2021 Adds Five More Acts to the Lineup

Now I don’t know if this was due to criticism of the initial acts that had been previously announced a few days ago or to add to the hype but Leeds and Reading Festival 2021 have added five more acts to the lineup.

The previously announced mostly all male bill came as a surprise to following the organiser Melvin Benn’s recent comments in saying it would be ‘the most all encompassing and inclusive Reading & Leeds line-up ever’.

Now I’m glad there have been more female additions to the lineup because it’s long overdue but to be more inclusive I think there needs to be more added to make it truly inclusive.

Also, in addition with Neck Deep and Yungblud being added, I think more rock acts need to be added because the festival becoming more of a glorified Indie and Pop festival. It’s definitely not pleased quite a few fans of the festival who’ve said previously online that they feel they’ve being pushed to the side more and more. I am glad however that the Fever 333 are performing at the festival because they transcend their performances. They push the boundaries on the genre and use everything at their disposal to make sure they’re not forgotten, whether it’s their music, the way Jason Butler speaks on stage or even they way they present their gigs as demonstrations.

Leeds and Reading Festival 2021 will take place 27th – 29th August 2021.

Leeds & Reading 2021 Festival To Have Two Main Stages & Six Headliners

The news that no festivals would be taking place this year is truly upsetting but necessary as we’re fighting the current Covid-19 pandemic.

While the Leeds & Reading festivals is showcasing the different sets which have been recorded over the years, there’s been some development onto the comeback in 2021 as the boss, Melvin Benn says:

“COVID has given us a year off, so the innovation for next year is testing – everybody will be tested,” he tells NME of Reading & Leeds 2021. “We’re also going to reproduce the main stage twice. What was the second stage is going to be elevated to an equal stage with the same presentation. What that really allows us to do is book six acts that are headliners.”

He continues: “When we first took over Reading Festival in 1989, the idea that there would even be two stages of acts playing at the same time was innovative. People were like, ‘Two bands playing at once? You can’t do that, Melvin.’ We were like, ‘Yeah we can, just watch.’ Now festivals have hundreds of stages at once.”

There’s more as he comments on the 2021 expectations for next years bands.

“The idea that the 2020 line-up would work perfectly well for 2021? No, it’s not happening – not for Reading & Leeds,” he confirms. “We just wiped the slate clean and started again. There will be one headliner that will repeat, but that’s the only one. Someone asked if we should just book the same thing, but we’ve never done that so why would we start now? We’d be a year out of date.”
