New Music Video Roundup 18/06/20

We’re back! We’re here for a roundup of ten of the best recently released music videos and sometimes a little information that comes with them! They’re not all within the same genre and they’re all different in some way or another but that means that there’s a little something for everyone here but come on, let’s get down to the music (videos)!

We’re going acoustic for our first pick this week with The Amazons with the UK tour video for ‘Mother’.

Matthew Thomson has said on the track:

“This video encapsulates everything we love about being in a band. Performing live is in our blood. When we tour, the music evolves.

“It was such a fun process looking back on our UK tour with Phoebe Fox as she put the video together. We hope we can join our fans again soon, and safely.”

Keeping things a little light for the next pick this week is the phenomenal Machine Gun Kelly. The other month, the release of ‘Bloody Valentine’ saw him collaborate with none other than Travis Barker where now an acoustic version has been released. This version of the track sees him playing guitar, all the while looking out at a sunset over LA.

Bloody Valentine is the first off MGK’s upcoming record, ‘Tickets To My Downfall’, which is set to be released on July 17th via Bad Boy / Interscope Records where the narrative will “revolve around a complex and seductive love story”.

Heading for British shores for the next pick of this week’s roundup, we have Luzzy Farrall.

This latest cut from her record, ‘Bruise’ is the track ‘Okay’. And it’s a home made video for this one to!

On the track, here’s what Lizzy said:

“‘Okay’ is what I’d call the interlude on the album. The lyrics are very personal and the performance on the track is very raw. The song itself is based around being stuck in your own head and being forced, because of life situations, to be independent but also discovering whilst doing so, just how much self-hate is actually present. This is also probably more relevant to me now than when I wrote the song.”

Moving to Remo Drive for our next pick of the week, and with the band’s third record, ‘A Portrait Of An Ugly Man’ released today, they released this video for ‘A Flower And A Weed’ just a few days in advance for its release.

Following the premiere over on Triple J, the Aussie powerhouses Hands Like Houses have a new cut in the form of ‘Space’.

This is the second release of material since their 2018’s ‘-Anon’, following on from the track, ‘Headspace’ which came out in March of this year.

Trenton Woodley (Vocals) has said:

“It’s weird to think that we wrote this song about emotional isolation and this sense of claustrophobia before any of this crazy year had gone down. It’s about this emotional collage of situations where I felt like I was going through the motions, grappling with exhaustion, trying to do the right thing but still coming up short of other people’s expectations… it was really important to me that the lyrics carried the weight of what I was singing about without getting caught in the specifics.

I wanted it to feel tired, but not hopeless. I wanted it to feel worn out, but not ready to give up yet. I didn’t want to sound like I’d stopped trying, I just wanted it to feel like coming out of a long silence to say, “Be patient, I can get this right. I just need a little more faith, a little trust and some space to get myself back together.””

Here’s some new Pop-Punk from those lads you either love or hate, Neck Deep!

Following on from the release of their new track ‘Fall’, they have a new video where they team up with a lot of skaters including Cordano Russell, Alex Dechuna, Roxana Howlett and more! There’s some skateboarding footage (of course) and some tour footage back from when they actually could.

Ben Barlow says:

“COVID-19 has made shooting videos all the more challenging. So, we looked at some of the things we love most: fucking around on tour and skateboarding. We decided to reach out to skaters that we have met along our touring journey, that we believe deserve some recognition, and give them a platform to display their amazing talents.

We’re switching things up to a heavy track now! The giants Machine Head have dropped a double digital single (wait. Is that even a thing?) where the double single suggests the two tracks act as protest anthems which were written after the murders of George Floyd and Ahmaud Arbery.

Here’s the video for the a side track ‘Stop The Bleeding’ which features Killswitch Engage frontman Jesse Leach.

Second to last video now for this week’s roundup pick and we have the British singer/songwriter Inklinks (whom is none other than the ex- Fearless Vampire Killers frontman Kier Kemp!) as he lifts another track off his upcoming ep, ‘Is This Who You Are?’.

Here’s what Kemp has said:

“‘Dizzy’ is a song for everyone that ever felt that they needed a new start. Sometimes it can feel like things change and you’re never going to be the same… but ultimately the song is about combating that idea head on. You’ve got this.”

‘Is This Who You Are?’ is set to be released on August 28th 2020 via Marshall Records.

I had to choose this track as the last one and you’ll know why when you see the name. This is Chester Bennington’s pre Linkin Park band, Grey Daze. The track, ‘B12’ is off their upcoming release ‘Amends’ which will feature vocals Chester actually recorded before his tragic passing.

There’s also an appearance from Korn’s Munky and Head.

New Tracks Roundup 22/05/20

Hello everyone and welcome back! It’s time for another week of the best new tracks that have recently been released, all in good order of epicness. I’ve tried to make sure that none of these overlap with the Music Videos Roundup post which should have gone live in addition to this post as well so when you’re done be sure to head over to have a read of that!

Let’s get into the new tunes this week starting off with Volumes.

After teasing the release of this track during Fearless Records ‘Fearless At Home’ live stream, they’ve relaxed ‘Pixelate’ which has plenty of headbands for you to do at home in social distancing measures.

Seconds up on this week’s new tracklist is Remo Drive with a new cut off their upcoming record. ‘Ode To joy 2’.

Erik Paulson (vocals) has said the following on the upcoming release:

“The lyrics were inspired by the excess I perceived around me as I transitioned from being a college student into touring full time. Most people who’ve done either can confirm that many social interactions are built around having a drink or smoking weed. Once the honeymoon period of exploration was over for me, I became frustrated with the omnipresence of drugs and alcohol and wanted to write about it… Oh what fun it is laughing at nothing, by this age we all have it down.. When I wrote the final version of the lyrics, I tried to connect with how I think when I’m drunk. I always feel as though I’m loving and hating every second of it. This song captures that same ambivalence.”

 

Moving onto Northlane now as details have emerged on their deluxe edition to their 2019 record, ‘Alien’.

With the tracks being released in instrumental forms, the release also features a new track from the album sessions, which is titled as ‘Enemy Of The Night’.

Marcus Bridge (vocals) has said:

“Enemy Of The Night was the last song to be completed and is personally my favourite song from the Alien sessions.

It has a similar, storytelling style to Freefall as it recounts memories and experiences from my childhood of my father falling deeper into addiction and the desperate things people will do to satisfy those needs. Despite his best efforts, he was never able to beat his demons.

This song is the missing piece to the Alien puzzle and I can’t wait for everyone to hear it.” 

 

Second to last on this weeks list is  From Inside. Since the Covid-19 pandemic started forcing everyone indoors and into social distancing measures, the bands have been giving their output on the track addressing the topic.

And lastly, on this weeks list, we have Britains finest in Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes. They’ve shared their first material since the release of their previous full-length release, ‘End Of Suffering’.

The final track of the week is ‘Bleed’.

Music Video Roundup 24/05/19

It’s 4PM on a Friday! This means it’s time for the music video roundup. If you’re new to either the blog or these music video roundup posts, this is how it works. Every week, I watch some of the best recently released music videos and compile them into a list for everyone’s viewing pleasure. They’re span across all the different genres, so expect something different for most of the tracks.

The first band in this weeks list are the Californian Punks Culture Abuse. They’ve recently released a track titled as ‘Goo’, which is the first piece of new material since their last year’s ‘Bay Dream’.

 

Keeping things stateside for the next video, the Minnesota Indie Rockers Remo Drive have dropped a video for ‘Around The Sun’. This is a new single to come from their upcoming full-length record, ‘Natural, Everyday Degradation’.

Erik Paulson (Vocals / Guitar) had this to say on the track.

“There’s sadness in routine. Even in the happiest of situations, we’re losing valuable moments or time. All these songs [on the album] are about some sort of warped existence, but through that, I think we ultimately find we can be whatever we want to be.”

 

Going across to Philadelphia, the Pop-Punkers known as Grayscale are ready to start a new cycle with the release of their single, ‘Painkiller Weather’. This is the first material of new music since the release of their 2017 debut record, ‘Adornment’.

 

How about we move things across to Canada for this next video? Ahead of their UK tour and set at Download Festival, Sumo Cyco has released a love-driven video, fitting for their new single, ‘Love You Wrong’.

On the track, the band have said:

“‘Love You Wrong’ is a song about the push and pull of a deep epic love. Sometimes love so intense can be unhealthy, other times it can feel like the meaning of life. There’s a tangled web of chemicals dancing between your heart and your brain that can feel like whiplash.”

 

Shall we move to the British Isles for a few videos? That sounds as if it’s a good idea, keep things fresh. Bring Me The Horizon have a busy summer of festivals ahead of them, playing a set at Radio 1’s Big Weekend and then curating their own day at All Points East in London, it hasn’t stopped the band from releasing a new video. Directed by Chris Muir, the video was shot whilst the band was on tour in Sao Paulo, Brazil earlier this year.

Moving to some metalcore for the next pick, TheCityIsOurs have a new offering in ‘Bare Bones’. The track features vocals from the Our Hollow, Our Home frontman Connor Hallisey and will act as the lead single from their upcoming debut record, ‘Low’.

And for a more lighter feel, the Pop-Rockers on the rise Hot Milk have dropped a brand new video off their debut EP, ‘Are You Feeling Alive’ and this track, it’s ‘Wide Awake’.

 

Moving across to Ireland for this next band, one that’s been away for a while on the making of their new record, but first the trio Fangclub have a ferocious new track in the form of ‘Hesitations’.

Stephen King (Vocals) has said: “It’s a heavy hitter with a lot of massive riffs. Lyrically, songs are always open to interpretation but we will say this, the verses are an inner voice or a devil on the shoulder and the choruses are the volcanic eruptions from deep within. Heavy shit. We know. Can’t help it.”

And for the penultimate track, ahead of the Slam Dunk festivities at this weekends festival, Trophy Eyes frontman John Floreani has dropped another track from his upcoming record, ‘Sin’ and this is where things get emotional!

 

Let’s go loud and energetic for this last track this week. ‘Mushroom Cloud’ is the latest offering from Of Mice & Men, which follows on from the post-apocalyptic narrative they once started with ‘How To Survive’ a few months ago.

On the track frontman Aaron Pauley has shared:

“I was pretty young when I became aware of the danger of spending too much time in my own head… My mind has never been a safe place for me to retreat to, and it’s something I have to consciously deal with on a daily basis. ‘Mushroom Cloud’ is our visceral representation of how it feels to be trapped, how it feels to be cut down by your own inner voice, how it feels to have nowhere to hide, and how it feels to be someone with a mind that’s as dangerous to themselves as the aftermath of an atomic weapon.”
