Bristol, UK-Noise-pop band, Superlove have announced their debut album ‘Colours’ set for release 1st April 2022 via Rude Records co-produced by the band themselves.
Their journey leading into this record has seen them balancing all their musical interests, going door-to-door, like a music-hungry goldilocks entering rooms that are blasting everything from jazz lounge music to blistering rock and pulsating EDM. Then you discover Superlove, who combine it all in perfect harmony.
“Its one big celebration of music,” says Jacob. “We knew we could write ten big rock songs but I can’t think of anything less interesting. Each song is completely different,” he grins. “We love pop, we love indie, we love heavy music. We adore every genre we’ve covered. We wouldn’t be able to do it with confidence if we weren’t really into it”
‘Colours’ is every part an album made by people who grew up in a world of MP3 players, illegal downloads and trading songs with friends in the playground via infrared. Eclectic but never claustrophobic, it sees Superlove doing whatever they want, regardless of genre and combining those lyrical emotions with the notion of the colours that go with them.

Bristol, UK-Noise-pop band, Superlove have dropped a brand new track titled “wanna luv u”. The song is now available across all streaming platforms.
The song itself brings in the themes of the early stages of a relationship, when it’s so new and as vocalist Jacob says “you can’t properly always process your feelings straight away because the rush of it all is just messing up your head. There’s also something from a songwriting and production standpoint when combining metal esque guitar riffs and the cutest, shiny pop that is so enjoyable to us because of the challenge it’s takes to make each section flow together. It’s really fun just pushing the limits with a track like this”.

Hello everyone welcome back to the New Music Roundup! We’re here for a roundup of five of the best recently released tracks. They’re not all within the same genre and they’re all different in some way or another but that means that there’s a little something for everyone here but come on, let’s get down to the music!
First up this wee are Frank Iero and his band, The Future Violence with the second track from their upcoming EP, ‘Heaven Is A Place, This Is A Place’ set to be released on January 15th 2021 via UNFD.
This is just a true Punk track with raw vocals as well as blaring drums to match.
Next up this week we have the Bristolian pack Superlove with their standalone, raucous track “Not Me! Not You!”. The track, which follows their recently released brand new self-titled EP also comes in support of Rude Records 20th Anniversary.
“This single represents a pure burst of energy that we wanted to release having been sat around for most of the year.” says singer Jacob. “It’s a song about people not having a clue what’s going on in the world. It’s a step away from our last few singles from our recent EP & it just felt right to throw it out into the world and watch the reaction seeing as though we can’t go and play some live shows off the back of the EP’s release. We recorded it in the first week of the UK’s 2nd lockdown and it’s been the quickest turnaround for a release yet, we are so excited of the prospect of hopefully playing it live one day to a proper rowdy room.”
Continuing in recent form for the Sweedish Trio Normandie, the latest effort, ‘Atmosphere’, is the latest choice of single to come from the band’s upcoming record, ‘Dark & Beautiful Secrets’ which is set for a release via Easy Life Records on February 19th 2021.
Vocalist Philip Strand had this to say of the track.
“One in five people in Europe say they experience feelings of loneliness, and during the pandemic many more feel anxious and isolated. With ‘Atmosphere’, we wanted to highlight the issue of loneliness online and how hard it can be to reach out for real connections. With the video we tried to focus on the lyrics, and let the visuals reflect on the emotions in the song.”
We’ve been waiting on some Pale Waves news for a while and we got it with the first track ‘Change’ and now this is a little bit of a different track to say the least with the Indie influence mixed with Avril Lavigne vibes, we have ‘She’s My Religion’ which is off their upcoming record, ‘Who Am I?’ which will be released via Dirty Hit on February 12th 2021.
Now I had to choose this track for the final pick this week and that is David Hasselhoff.
The Hoff has teamed up with Austrian duo CueStack for an epic single and sci-fi-tinged video, Through The Night, with the band previously revealing of how it all came about: “The project started in 2018 and many demos were made, many meetings were held and what seemed like an impossible idea slowly turned into a reality. David finally recorded the track with us, CueStack, in 2019 in Vienna and we also shot a cinematic music video together.”

Hello everyone! Welcome back to the new music video roundup. We’re here for a roundup of ten of the best recently released music videos. They’re not all within the same genre and they’re all different in some way or another but that means that there’s a little something for everyone here but come on, let’s get down to the music!
And first up this week are the up and coming Superlove. The bands latest offering has been around where ‘THINK ABT U’ where the track originally aired on Alex Baker’s Fresh Blood on Kerrang! Radio and the video premiering on Rock Sound.
Seconds up this week are Lonely The Brave.
They’ve recently put out their new single ‘Open Door’ which comes off their upcoming record, ‘The Hope List’, which will be the first to feature Jack Bennett of Grumble Bee.
The record is set to be released January 22nd 2021.
Moving to a little Pop-Punk for the next choice in this weeks roundup we have the band Young Culture.
Signed to Rude Records, the band have their debut record being released on 16th October 2020 where this will be one of or the final track we’ll hear before the record drops.
Vocalist Alexander Magnan shares: “We’re so stoked to share something fun and new with all of you as well as announce our first album. We hope you have as much fun watching it as we did making it.”
“This album represents closing the chapter of youth and opening up to new discoveries,” he adds. “It is a recap of the past years for us as a group and individuals, and we want people to know that with this release, Young Culture is here and ready to go.”
Now it’s time for a cover.
Dinosaur Pile-Up have introduced us to a Sci-Fi world filled world for their rendition of Run DMC’s ‘It’s Tricky’.
“We basically wanted a chance to make our own Beastie Boys/Busta Rhymes esque video, but for a Run DMC song. So when Amazon Music kindly agreed to put a video into production we were like OK LET’S GOOOO!!
‘It’s Tricky’ is such a fun song, so we wanted to make sure the video wasn’t taking itself too seriously and that the end result would be a party. We also wanted to include us getting abducted by aliens (because why not?), us dressed up AS THE ACTUAL ALIENS ABDUCTING OURSELVES because I’m into that ‘same person playing both roles’ thing, a scene that kind of reminded us of Foo Fighter’s ‘Monkey Wrench’ video (because it’s cool as hell) and as much 90s sci-fi special effects as we were allowed to include because we were brought up on that shit.
I put this to director Ralph Fuller (GrainFreeze) and basically said “hey do you wanna have a shit load of fun making a video about aliens?” and he was instantly sold. However, when we turned up to shoot on the day, we found ourselves stood in a legit movie studio with seemingly countless people running around with 40 foot green screens and back drops of the Grand Canyon and shit.
I realised that it had all gotten horrendously out of hand, and that our little idea of “let’s make a fun/stupid Beastie Boys music video about us getting abducted by aliens” had turned into a legit Busta Rhymes music video that was actually gonna look really really sick. I then instinctively ate a chimichanga that was way too hot for me, donned a news anchor suit with the actual universe printed on it, and went on to deliver a performance many critics are describing as ‘kind of ok in a Ted Danson kind of way’. All in all, it was a huge success.”
Shifting into the fearsome duo Nova Twins, we have ‘Play Fair’.
This is a cut from the recent debut record, ‘Who Are The Girls’ which was released through Jason Butler’s (Letlive, Fever 333) Wreckords Crew, they explain:
“It’s the ultimate revenge tune, about powering through any hurdles that stand in our way. It’s a call to arms; rise against those who try to hold you back! If life hands you an unfair game, don’t play fair.”
Now we have someone new whom you might now now yet but you will, here we have the indie Singer/Songwriter Beabadoobee with the latest release before her debut full length record, ‘Fake It Flowers’ is released via Dirty Hit on October 16th 2020.

Coming off their recently released record, ‘A Hero’s Death’, ‘A Lucid Dream’ was the fourth track off the record and receives a video directed by Jordan Martin.
Now, we’re taking a massive left turn here and go more hardcore. at least ten times by the looks of this next track from Nasty.
This is their track for Menace which is their title track for their upcoming record which is going to be released next week (25th September) via Century Media Records.
For our penultimate video this week, we’re heading off to Sweeden.
The video for their song ‘The Future Of Warfare’, was completely created using building blocks and pays tribute to The Battle of Flers-Courcelette, which took place on September 15th 1916, and you can watch it below.
The band’s ninth studio album, ‘The Great War’, is out now via Nuclear Blast Records.
And for the finale this week, we’ve selected the Grammy award winning heavy hitting foursome Mastodon.
‘Fallen Torches’, a track from their rarities compilation, ‘Medium Rarities’, which is also out today.
‘Medium Rarities’ celebrates the band’s 20th anniversary, containing a number of covers, instrumentals, b-sides, live recordings, and more.
‘Fallen Torches’ was recorded in Atlanta last year, and features guest vocals from Scott Kelly of Neurosis.

First up this week is Heart Of Gold, which is the solo side project of Being As An Ocean Guitarist/ Vocalist Michael McGough with the release of ‘Left Town’
On the track, McGough says:
“Once we had finished tracking the last part of the last single during the recording process for this EP, we knew we had a solid collection of songs to be released together as a whole,” shares Michael McGough, vocalist and multi-instrumentalist of both Heart of Gold and rock-band Being As An Ocean. “The first single “Over Yourself’ was our ‘re-welcoming’ to the world – ‘See Through’ was the message of personal experience, where the time in between had been spent, and ‘Midnight In Miami’ was paying homage to the original sound that inspired this project to begin with. The next and final single from GOLD, ‘Left Town‘ is the marriage of wearing your heart on your sleeve, but poking fun at yourself along the way. Saying ‘yeah that really hurt having to go through that but hey i’ll have a cool story to tell’. – That’s the whole lyrical message across the board with GOLD.’
Heading to Bristol for the Poppy trio Superlove who’ve announced they’ve recently signed with Rude Records. In addition to the announcement, they’ve released ‘I Love It’ with is expected to feature on their upcoming yet to be announced EP, which should drop later in 2020.
We’re heading into some Post Rock up and comers now. This is Catbamboo with their latest release of a track, ‘Jelly. There’s something just a little soothing about this track where you just have no choice but to sit back and relax. Just listen, you’re welcome.
Switching straight into Nu-metal for the penultimate choice of track with the Arizona based Ded. Their latest record is a little off the ways for the moment but I’ll be sure to update everyone when I hear some news on that front.

Last new music in the roundup this week is the ever present Knuckle Puck.
Their upcoming record, ’20/20′ is getting released on September 18th 2020 which is just a few weeks away now.
‘Earthquake’ is one of the final tracks off the release and you’ll be able to hear just what we’re in store for as the final track of this weeks roundup.

NOTE: Now for this UK tour, Roam decided to have two bands from their respective venues hometown play open for them on every show. This was only one on this particular night as due to unknown reasons, one of the band; We Need To Talk dropped out of the show.
Despite one of the opening bands dropping out, this meant Heartsink were the only local band opening the show. This was a revitalised Heartsink that I was watching because as I’m concerned because I’ve watched these lads play a few times in the last year and compared to that, they were raw, powerful and emotionally tapping into their greatest tracks, along with some amazing new belters, all for the crowd to consume. ‘Starting Over’ which the crowd did respond well to was the standout track for them because it sounds as if this is the time taken with this one was right which could mean larger and brighter things for them in the near future. It sounded more personal to vocalist Zac Roughton and based on their performance, just amplified the track to a different height alongside the additional vocals from Bassist Bryn Portas. I do hope they’re able to capitalise on this in the future because based off of this performance, it just seems inevitable.
In all honesty, as well, their sets sound quality was by far the best in my opinion. I don’t know if this was down to the equipment, knowledge of the venue but when they played their set was the clearest to make out from the vocals and when (*SPOILER ALERT ON SETLIST FOR ROAM) Hand Grenade came on, it wasn’t until that which Roam sounded good on the night.

Next on was Superlove. For the atmosphere of the whole room, it should’ve been a lot more receptive but I think the genre-bending didn’t work out too well in this lineup on the evening mainly because I was getting more Indie music vibes from the band. Not to say that it wasn’t a good performance from the Bristol Trio as ‘Big Lies, Boy’ is definitely the highlight of their discography but there is more fine-tuning which needs to be done before they take the next steps.

So, I’ve been into the quality of the sound quickly earlier in this post but I just wanted to address the venue as well, namely that the ceiling of The Basement was well too low for any crazy moshpits to happen during Roam’s faster track choices and I understand that it’s an Independent Venue tour where I’m not attempting to take anything from it but to me, the Basement for a gig such as Roam was a very inadequate space to house it, especially since there were two beams built into the structure of the building meaning if you watched the performances from a certain angle, your view is completely blocked and there’s these benches slap bang in the middle of the room (Which I believe could’ve been moved to the side) which did nothing to help if anyone from the bands wanted to join things in the middle of the crowd. Enough of that, now onto Roam.
No matter what, this band always gives one hundred per cent. I’ve seen them play a handful of times and they’re always getting better fan reception and that in turn comes from the releases they have. This tour was also in support of their latest record, ‘Smile Wide’ which came out in September 2019 where you see this is them refining their sound and stepping away from the more Pop-Punk side of things but them finding who they are and this translates into them live as well. ‘Hand Grenade’, ‘Pirhana’ and ‘Playing Fiction (Which I do realise is off their second record, ‘Great Heights & Nosedives’ but it shows how they’re responding to being on tour for so long and just how they operate when it comes to their production. Now, things can only go up for the band because while they’re still getting a few pits going and some stage dives from members, what they’ve done for these opening bands is just so important because everyone who goes along now has no excuse to not go to one of their local venues. They’re showing that the scene is more than just the venue and there’s so much potential out there at the moment.

Some of their older and punchier tracks such as ‘Deadweight, ‘Hopeless Case’ and ‘Alive’ were all met with good applause which also produced some of the better moments of their set. Roam might be more atypical of the contemporary artists but they will always belong to the Pop Punk and Rock families.
Hello everyone, and welcome to a brand new monthly post here on Almost Anything Media. I’ve wanted to make a new post for a while. A monthly post that’s inclusive of the local area of York as well as its outlying and other areas of the country and showcases the talent I know there is around here. One way was to write a post about the latest singles you need to listen to, but I thought I might need to reach out to more people before that does happen. In truth, there’s nothing I enjoy more than getting right out there to meet some new people and to listen to some great music and discover bands along the way, so without further ado, I welcome the monthly post of the Mondo Monthly Gigs. This is all the recommended gigs I’m looking forward to in a particular month. Now, of course, there will be one’s I won’t always have the chance to get to but they’ll always be a few local to me around the Yorkshire and outlying areas.
Similar to the weekly Music Video countdown list, this list will compromise of ten gigs I’m sure will be a fun treat for all those involved so let’s dive straight into a local show that’s happening within the Yorkshire area.
1.Foxhaunt. The Crescent, York, 09/08/19

It’s a showcase of some of the best talents within York for the Alternative scene as the celebration for Foxhaunt’s latest single is being released down at one of the best venues in The Crescent. Armed with inFade, Avenoir and Pray For Hayden as their supports the Alternative outfit are sure to put on a unique night for fans of the genre.
Tickets for the gig at The Crescent on the 9th August are on sale now for £6 in advance.
2. This House Is Haunted. The Crescent, York. 16/08/19
Support: Amongst Thieves.
This House Is Haunted are a three-piece from York. Zak, Dom and Jenn blend influences from post-hardcore and metal with influences from Alexisonfire and Deftones alongside narratively styled instrumental bands such as Mew, Mogwai and Explosions In The Sky.
This House Is Haunted have the sensibilities of melodic, hooky vocals and guitar lines, with post-rock bass and drums. Often This House go in tangential directions to reveal rich sonic landscapes to crushingly heavy riffs.
With Amongst Thieves as their main support for the evening, everything is set to go off as one of the best nights for the local scene in recent memory.

Embarking on their first steps in their new lineup, Better Days are set to kick off a new era for the band as they embark on a mini-tour of the UK.
The band have been described as a fresh new take on pop-punk which combines all the elements of the early 2000’s era and the upcoming new breed, all eyes will be on them as they look forward to the future with brand new music in mind.

The Aussie up and comers absolutely ripped through their debut UK headlining tour with their fresh and energetic ‘Skinny Dipping’ just a short insight to what goes into their shows. With a few dates set around their Reading and Leeds festival appearances, the band are set to storm across some larger stages than when they came across earlier in 2019.
Adding to this, with their now full-time bassist Miki, the Australian Pop-Pinks will come forth with a clear vision so fans will get a glimpse of just what to expect the second time around.
I was at their last UK tour for the Leeds date, their output was a little sub-par but from what I’ve heard since then, there’s going to be absolutely no stopping this band coming forward in the future.
5. Frank Iero, Laura Jane Grace & The Devouring Mothers. Manchester Academy 2, 28/08/19

I think the only way to truly describe this lineup is Punktastic! That’s the only true adjective that does come to mind as two of the heads of the scene come together for a joint UK tour.
With festival season up and running, it seemed cruel not to mention two of the best bands, Frank Iero and the Future Violents and Laura Jane Grace and the Devouring Mothers as they’re on a mission to reclaim Manchester for their true punk heritage. Both projects have new music out and fans to devour them at the ready so everyone better be primed just for what’s going to go down on the tour.
I think when independent bands come down to the Key Club, it just goes off and is a little more special. I say this because when I went to see Sumo Cyco and Blood Youth, the atmosphere just transforms and elevates the show to new heights. With the metalcore troupe in Black Tongue coming across to Leeds and their EU shows in full swing, things are just going to be sweaty and rough if things are to be believed.
Another Aussie group straight onto this list, the up and coming rockers are embarking on a lengthy UK stint in celebration of their upcoming release, ‘State Of Mind’ and it’s interesting to see what will occur on these shows coming up as you have the varying bands supporting them on their UK tour. For example with Woes, they’ve modified themselves into an experimental rock outfit but that makes them all the more enjoyable to watch and with The Faim, their transference to more Poppier sounds but with all the meaning int their lyrics shows just how much they’ll be rooted into their ways. Obviously, it’s a departure from the ‘Summer Is A Curse’ EP, but with their rhythmic sections on current singles, it shows that the crowd is going to love them all the same.

Skunk Anaise are a once in a generation band but unlike some older and well-respected bands, they’re one of the most consistent groups who are still in the scene and that’s just the only reason people still enjoy them. But it’s more than that here, as they’re continuing the experience and going further with their latest headline tour as they visit more cities following the release of their 25th anniversary live album, 25LIVE@25. As they’re hailed as one of the most exciting and greatest live acts across the globe, these shows will see the band hit a huge milestone in their career, so don’t miss out.
For fans of Local Natives and The Japanese House, the new outfit Talk More are heading over to The Fulford Arms in York for the release of their two brand new singles, ‘Planned Fights’ and ‘Heart Again’. With the three-piece band all collectively being involved in the scene for a while, this will be a true test to see what the band are capable of.
