Valleyheart Share New Video For ‘Heal My Head’

Massachusetts trio VALLEYHEART, who craft dynamic, cinematic alternative rock earmarked by lyrical eloquence and sweet melodies, released their second album Heal My Head on the 3rd of June, 2022 via Tooth & Nail.

“It’s experimental, glitchy — industrial, almost,” says singer Kevin Klein, offering a keen insight into the track and its origin story. “We wanted to write a chorus that would be so stuck in your head, that it would almost feel like it was driving you mad. A lot of the production choices were made from this place of wanting the listener to feel like they were losing their mind — going mad. Hard panning, filtered vocals, unusual effects, dissonant harmonies, changing time signatures. Fun fact: canvas sheets were placed over the snare drum, and in between the hi-hats to create a muted, electronic-like feel to the drums on the first half of this track.”

As for the accompanying visual, Klein says, “The director, Mark Bloodworth (Made by Bloodworth) and I started brainstorming ideas to make a beautiful yet distorted/messed up performance visual experience. The video used a visual AI synthesis method called StyleGAN that morphs faces into each other and into various abstract people. He used our faces and some others. The aspect of ‘Heal My Head’ and identity fit this visual effect perfectly. Mark also used tons of other AI and morphing visual effects in there too. A lot of it was also done on VHS and DigiCam. It was really cool to utilize tons of different ideas, cameras, styles and location to make this. The goal of this video was to provide an insane overflow of input and for the human eye and mind.”

Taking us even further into the clip, he finishes, “We shot most of the video in the basement of the church of Mark’s dad, where we actually used to practice during the pandemic and wrote most of the Heal My Head record there. It felt very full circle to be back in that same room, The other locations were deep in the woods at midnight, the backyard at Mark’s parents, and a club.”

Valleyheart Share Music Video For ‘Miracle’

Massachusetts trio VALLEYHEART, who craft dynamic, cinematic alternative rock earmarked by lyrical eloquence and sweet melodies, are pleased to announce their second album Heal My Head, out on 3rd June via Tooth & Nail. Pre-order it here

Today, the band has shared the video for “Miracle”, inspired by natural surroundings and the sounds of the early ’00s. It also features an instrument not previously used on a Valleyheart release!

“‘Miracle’ was written on a walk through my town of Salem, Massachusetts and a day at the ocean,” vocalist Kevin Klein explains. “The intro melody had been floating around in my head and in various band practices for many years, but once I had the lyrics from that walk, I recorded a full demo of the song in one day. The song has horns on it, which is a first for Valleyheart. And it definitely explores an early 2000s sound as a primary influence for its feel — with lots of piano on the verses. I wanted that nostalgic feel to be the bedrock.”

Valleyheart Drop New Video For ‘Your Favourite Jacket’

Massachusetts trio Valleyheart have announced their second record Heal My Head, out June 3 via Tooth & Nail.

Today, the band has dropped their latest track from the record “Your Favorite Jacket.”

“This song is about comparing mental states to the changing of the seasons and the volatility of the weather,” the band explains. “We never expect nature to be sunny and hot all the time, or cold and snowy and rainy. So when mental shifts happen, why are we so hard on ourselves and confused? It’s about reckoning with the changes happening in our lives by looking at weather as an imagery balance.”

Valleyheart Announce New Record ‘Heal My Head’

Massachusetts based trio VALLEYHEART, have announced their second album Heal My Head, out 3rd June, 2022 via Tooth & Nail.

Today, the band has shared the video for the first single “The Numbers”, which offers a light-hearted take on a poignant subject.

“‘The Numbers’ touches on the chase and validation of any set of numbers we assign in our lives — whether that be age, streams, likes, followers, bank account, weight, or any other quantifiable measure,” says vocalist Kevin Klein about the song’s potent assessment of our very digital lives. “But to be blunt — it’s specifically about streams and the music industry. And how getting caught up in the pattern of constantly comparing and leaning on the future of a bigger tomorrow steals you from today. I think much of the music industry has been distilled to bottom lines and monthly listener counts. If it were up to me, you wouldn’t see any ‘numbers’ on streaming sites at all. Just the album art and artist name. That’s what ‘The Numbers’ is challenging. The first lines of the song were written after a conversation with my local convenience store clerk.”
