New Music Video Roundup 29/05/20

We’re back for another week! We have another roundup of ten music videos which have been recently released and they’re always some of my favourites! They’re not all within the same genre and they’re all different in some way or another but that means that there’s a little something for everyone here but enough talk, let’s get down to things.

First up this week we have KOU. This is a new project from Jon Wilkes (Ex- The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus) who released the video ‘Burn’, which exclusively premiered though Punktastic.

Wilkes started KOU in 2009 where the first single was released just back in 2018. In addition to this, KOU is an acronym which stands for ‘Kingdom Of Us’.

“The idea of running a (KOU)coup in defense of our livelihood as humans and anything that holds us back. It’s about following your dreams no matter the cost”-KOU

Wallflower have their upcoming debut record, ‘Teach Yourself To Swim’ set to be released on June 5th 2020.

The latest cut from their release comes in the form of ‘Further Down.

Vini Moreira-Yeoell comments:

“Everything that happens on this track is a perfect combination of everything this record is about and, ultimately, what this band is about. The lyrics to this song contain the album’s title ‘Teach Yourself To Swim’. In the context of the track, it could mean one thing but when you take those words and say them out loud they start to take their own form and we all felt the phrase represented the album perfectly. One of the biggest things we hope people take away from this album is that none of us claim to have any answers to the questions being asked by the songs on the record. It’s about conversation and discourse and figuring out a little bit more about our own traits – both positive and negative. Sometimes it all gets a little overwhelming, that’s what this song is about.”

We move to something a little more crazy in the form of In Hearts Wake. They have a new release for ‘Hellbringer’.

It’s a pretty mental video where you have Polaris’s Jamie Hails turn into a werewolf as well as blood raining down on everyone.

On the track Jake Taylor (vocals) said:

“At some of our American shows extremist groups have picketed outside, telling our fans that they’re ‘going to hell’. If only they knew just how positive the energy inside the venue was! Never judge a book by it’s cover. So rather than fight hate with hate, we decided to have some fun and lean into the metal stereotype.

In 2020 with live streams becoming the new norm, we decided to stage our own hell-bent circus. We thought it would be funny to ask Jamie to dress up as a werewolf, turn me into a vampire and rain blood on the entire band. Guess Halloween came early this year. Thank you Blade.”

The track is off their upcoming release, ‘Kaliyuga’ which is set to be released on August 7th via UNFD.

Let’s keep the genre of the weird and wonderful going. Creeper have added to their upcoming, ‘Sex, Death & The Infinite Void’. The latest cut is ‘All My Friends’, which was filmed remotely and put together by non other than Oll Appleyard (Static Dress).

Moving into the singer / songwriter category now we have A.A. Williams who has dropped a video for ‘Melt’. This is taken off her debut full length record, ‘Forever Blue’.

Next up, we have I Prevail, whom have something truly in their style. They pull no punches where the band address some of the issues taking place right now and there’s a guest on this version of the track where rapper Joyner Lucas lends his vocals to a verse!

We do have to warn viewers here that the video contains scenes which some may find distressing, so please watch with caution!

Time for a fan video! A few weeks ago, The Word Alive revealed that they needed their fans to “Sing along, play instruments, air guitar and more” to help them make a video for their song ‘Thank You’.

And this is what the result has come to! It’s an inspiring video which showcases the fanbase and helps bring people together.

Anyone for a Dutch track? Heavy metal heavyweights Within Temptation have premiered a new video with Kerrang. ‘Entertain You’ is a standalone single which is the first new cut of material since their 2019 record, ‘Resist’.

On the track, the bands vocalist Sharon Den Adel has said:

“The best way to explain the lyrics is to see how we treat a certain groups of people that don’t fit in our society,” begins Sharon. “[There is] a need to emphasise that they do not fit in so we can feel good about ourselves. We’re singling them out, cornering them in all sorts of ways – think of videos of fights in the streets, filming an incident instead of helping someone. They’re not here for our entertainment. It’s a problem that has always been a part of society and it will always be there, unfortunately. So this subject is never old, but it’s something we need to keep talking about so it doesn’t get accepted as normal behaviour.”

This is a new one. Crown The Empire, in addition to releasing a video for ‘BLURRY’, have also launched an AR (Augmented Reality) hologram experience via JADU, an app that “allows fans to enjoy the unique experience of performing with their favourite artists by choosing from a library of photorealistic holograms of different musicians.”

The band adds:

“Hello, it’s been a while since we’ve last spoken. As you may know, our world is in a state of isolation and confusion. The future is unknown and we’re all uncertain of what’s to come. With that being said, we wanted to release something special to get you through these dark times — a song about feeling lost when it seems like all hope is gone.

“We are excited that the official music video for our song ‘BLURRY (out of place)’ is out now.

“Andy Leo has been turned into a hologram, and you can bring him to life wherever you are in the world.

“Download the app, choose the hologram of Andy, scan your surroundings, and he will appear in front of you. Film videos of you and Andy singing/dancing to ‘BLURRY’ together and post them on all your socials. We hope you enjoy this interactive experience as well as the new music video. Stay safe out there.”

And lastly, we turn to what is a hilarious and amazing video, and the fact Megan Fox is in this is just a plus. This is Machine Gun Kelly with his latest track, ‘Bloody Valentine’, off his upcoming ‘Tickets To My Downfall’ record.

Fox force feeds MGK during the video as well as tying him up amongst other things. You have to see it to believe it.

Music Video Roundup 08/05/20

We’re back for another week! We have another roundup of ten music videos which have been recently released and they’re always some of my favourites! They’re not all within the same genre and they’re all different in some way or another but that means that there’s a little something for everyone here but enough talk, let’s get down to things.

The debut video this week is from Canadian Experimental duo Vile Creatures who have shared the debut video off their upcoming record, ‘Glory, Glory! Apathy Took Helm!’. This is ‘ You Who Has Never Slept’.

On the track, the band have said:

“Raissa and Dave are two wonderful people we met working our food truck, they knew we played music and offered to help us with a music video one day. Fast forward a few years and we were finally able to take them up on their generous offer. We rented out a theatre in small town Ontario for a day with a bunch of friends, and crafted this vision for the song. All of it was held together by the amazing work of Anita who starred in and choreographed the video. We were inspired by psychological and abstract horror films, most obviously Susprira. We wanted to craft a linear narrative that still kept you wondering and interested – our songs are long enough that any music video is really a short film.”

 

Next, we’re headed for a lockdown video where Bleed From Within have adapted to the current crisis for their video in ‘Night Crossing’.

This comes from their upcoming release in the form of ‘Fracture’, where the band have shot each of them playing their parts from their own home over a video call. The track also features a massive guest guitar solo from Matt Heafy of Trivium who jumps in on the video chat.

On this, the band have said:

“We’ve been eager to share this track since we finished it at the start of the year. This is classic Bleed From Within song structure and the groove is strong. Matt from Trivium chips in with such a tasty solo towards the end and he absolutely nails it. We’ve been chatting back and forth with him online for a while then after meeting at a show of theirs during Summer last year, the idea came around to get him involved on a new track. We created an opening and Matt’s part was decided. The video was inspired by the numerous video calls we’ve had amongst ourselves, friends, and family since entering lockdown. Something fun during these crazy times. Enjoy!”

 

Keeping things in Quarantine for just another video, we go to spend some family time with Papa Roach. Keeping in sentiment with the track, ‘Feel Like Home’, we see some lovely moments as the band get their families involved with some hijinks in just what is a lovely video we all need right now.

 

Heading over to London, specifically to South London for the fantastic Wallflower for a video to accompany, ‘Passwer-by’, which is the third single off their debut record, ‘Teach Yourself How To Swim’.

Guitarist / Vocalist Vini Moreira – Yeoell has said:

“‘Passer-by’ started life as something very different and slowly morphed into whatever the hell it is now. It was actually one of the first songs we wrote when we decided that we were writing an album so there was a whole list of things we wanted to achieve and write at this point. One of our goals was to write something more electronic, industrial & experimental. There’s a Rhodes piano on there, 808s, a Bass VI having replaced one of the guitars and some spoken word parts incorporated for good measure. With all the strangeness going on in the music, we felt the lyrics had to match so it’s a little bit surreal at times. The song is all about being left behind and looking back at a period of your life realising how little impact you really had on somebody’s life, and vice versa.”

 

How about an 8-bit video just to change things up?

That’s exactly what Soccer Mommy have done in order to launch a video tour for ‘Crawling In My Skin’. This track is off their second record, ‘Color Theory’, which dropped in February of this year ahead of what should’ve been a stacked summer of touring which was ultimately cancelled due to the Covid-19 Pandemic

On the release of the 8-Bit video, the band have said:

“It’s really hard having our tour be postponed because I was really excited to play all of the songs on color theory for everyone, ‘crawling in my skin’ in particular,” Allison says. “I hope this little 8-bit performance can hold everyone over until the tour can happen.”

 

Who’s up for a little bit of Punk Rap? We hed to Nascar Aloe in a new track for ‘Feet’ which is all about…. Well, you guessed it….. Feet!

Who’s up for a little bit of building to get us through quarantine?

Now, this video comes from Jinjer fan Mychailo Halinin who constructed this video by himself and it’s entirely made out of LEGO! That’s right, it’s a stop motion video which is a remake of Jinjer’s ‘Perennial’ which was released way back in January of this year.

The band were so impressed they reached out to Halinin so they could share it on their social’s to everyone following and so far at the time of writing, it’s reached 77K

 

Next, for a little something outside the norm of the genres but a great video nevertheless is Cheerbleederz’s ‘Sometimes I Cry At Work’. This is off the band’s second EP, ‘Lobotany’ which is available now via Alcopop! Records.

“It’s the internal conversation to try and find the truth of what you really want and how sometimes that truth can be really hard to find.

“It speaks to a feeling of inadequacy and imposter syndrome that can plague you and prevent you from achieving what you want to achieve. When we play it, we really channel that frustration and defiance in Sophie’s lyrics — it’s an empowering song for us!”

 

Moving to Bristol we have the upstarts RXPTRS with their release, ‘You, Me and The Devil Makes Three’. This is the band’s latest single where they explain:

“‘You, Me And The Devil Make Three’ is a song written about a group of people in my life, who are talented beyond measure in their fields, but also have their own vices which make them their own worst enemies. The ‘Devil’ in this, is the metaphor for the personality trait that holds these individuals back.”

 

And now for the final video in this week’s countdown is a lot different but as soon as I heard and watched this, I knew I had to have it on here.

The band is called The Hu, a Mongolian Folk-Metal band who are proving to be a big hit right now where they will be celebrating a release of a deluxe version of their record, ‘The Gereg’. This is set to be released in July where the release includes three reworked tracks featuring Jacoby Shaddix (Papa Roach), Danny Case (From ashes To New and for this video Lzzy Hale of Halestorm with, ‘Song Of Women’.

On the collaboration with The Hu, Lzzy says:

“I’m so thankful to the HU for welcoming me, my words and my melody into this song,” Hale commented. “I can count on less than one hand the number of times where a project has changed the course of my spirit and renewed my faith in humanity. This was one of those projects. I’m still levitating.”

Homeschool Festival Adds The Xcerts, Bloxx, The Sherlocks And More

Jamie Lenman, Blox, The Xcerts and more have been added to the online festival, Homeschool.

The event will now take place over the May Bank Holiday weekend (8th – 10th May 2020) at homeschoolfest.com with acts including Orchards, Wallflower, Huney Lung and more.

The festival is also raising awareness of the amazing work of frontline medical staff and volunteers in the UK, encouraging donations to the NHS Charities Together Covid-19 Urgent Appeal throughout the weekend.

Music Video Roundup 24/04/20

The music video roundup is back! That’s right now things are looking bleak so I wanted to re-instate the roundup so everyone has something new to be watching. In addition to this, there’s a new weekly tracks post coming because it will not stop the music!

First things first, to get up started we have Puppy. ‘Powder Blue’ is the last one on their last EP, ‘iii’ On the track they’ve said: “We called it that because it was our third EP, and because there are three of us in the band. For whatever reason, triptychs, triplets, three-pieces & trilogies felt quite important to us at that point.

 

Up in the second spot this week is the Manchurian Pop-Rock up and comers who have just about established themselves with this reworked mashup of two of their tracks in a toned-down version for ‘Wide Awake (In Awful Ever After) for which both tracks are cut from 2019’s ‘Are You Feeling Alive’ EP. In addition to the new cut of the track, we have some behind the scenes footage of the band as well as some live footage for everyone to enjoy.

Now, who’s up for some gymnastics and a pulsating slow-burning performance? Well, that’s just what Frank Iero And The Future Violents have in store for us as Frank himself explains:

“It was apparent to me early on while writing Barriers that ‘Medicine Square Garden’ was its most important track. It was the cornerstone upon which the rest of the record and band was formed. If we lost the battle on that song, the rest didn’t stand a chance. ‘Medicine Square Garden’ pushed the most boundaries, scratched the most itches, and terrified me far beyond any other song I had written. So when we crossed off every box in Chicago at Electrical Audio and listened back with smiles knowing we had accomplished our goals, a new objective soon emerged: Get the label to see our favorite song as a single, and let us make the video of my dreams.”

“‘Medicine Square Garden’ is not your typical single. It’s a five and a half minute attempt at answering the question, ‘What if Prince wrote a Sleep song?’ Oh and if that’s not batshit enough for you, I already had the video in my head. So armed with crudely drawn set designs and a typed-up description of a witchy calisthenics workout meets a Robert Palmer alien massacre, I submitted my pitch to the label. This was my vision from the beginning and no one told me I was crazy. What a world.”

Next up, we have a little talk of Nothing, Nowhere. It’s a track that’s full of harsh beats and vocals which are somehow a little harsher. You can watch ‘Death’ below.

Now, since Suitor released their debut in October of last year the band have been busy.  They’ve been touring like crazy and as well as working on their upcoming second EP. The video for that second release is now complete in the form of ‘Deep Sleep’.

On the track singer Casey Smith has said:

“‘Deep Sleep’ as a video conveys the battle of addiction and temptation; literally in the form of alcoholism, or something else entirely based on perspective. Drug abuse, codependency, self medication, whatever it takes to find respite in a depressive or anxious reality. That solution or “fix” is portrayed in the siren character. For the wandering male lead, it is the only option, the only path that leads to a salvation without despair, in her embrace. Even if it means the end for him, he cant resist the cure, allowing her to pull him beneath the surface, finally at peace. He wakes, stunned to realize that it was only a dream; a temporary escape. Where does he go from here?”

For another up and coming band we have Static Dress. They’ve been on the up and there’s no signs of them stopping. Now they have a new track in the form os ‘Safeword’ which has an accompanying video where they return to the green and white room from their debut single, ‘Clean’.

Moving on in the list Dance Gavin Dance have launched a new video, with the help of their fans. In their ‘Three Wishes’ video, the band put a call out for people to send in footage of themselves cleaning their houses, brushing their teeth etc (A little strange right?)

But ‘Three Wishes’ is off their upcoming record ‘Afterburner’, which is due to be released April 24th via Rise Records.

 

Now we have Eat Away My Heart. It’s actually a track title on this one. I’m sure everyoen’s thinking the same, is it? It’s actually a fact! This track comes from the brilliant Wallflower whom have their debut record, ‘Teach Yourself To Swim’ on its way and now there’s a video to go with it!

On the track though, vocalist/guitarist Vini Moreira-Yeoell has said:

“It’s a song about giving away all the best parts of yourself to someone in the hope that the person in question will like you a little more, which never works by the way.”

Now we’re nearing the endgame for this weeks list where A Day To Remember’s time has finally come on the list. Everyone’s eagerly awaiting the release of their seventh record, ‘You’re Welcome’, the band have decided to share just what’s coming with their latest cut off the record, ‘Mindreader’.

This follows on from ‘Degenerates’ and ‘REsentment’ where the track has an accompanying animated video that tells the story of a man in a mental battle with his girlfriend who’s portrayed as a mystical physic woman.

On the track, frontman Jeremy McKinnon has said:

“We’ve had this video done for some time now, and seeing as how our album isn’t out yet and the state of the world is keeping us off the road, we wanted to get some new material out there for our fans as soon as possible.

This song was one of my personal favorites off the new album from the day it was written. I wrote it with the incredibly talented Mike Green. Fun fact, it was the first song I’ve ever sent the guys in the band that was unanimously loved. This song was written to be a lighthearted take on people in relationships expecting their partners to read their minds.”

Lastly, on the list for this weeks Roundup, we have Yours Truly. They have released ‘Composure’ which is there first taste of new music from the band since the release of their EP ‘Afterglow’ in 2019.

Wallflower Announce Tour With Muskets

Wallflower has announced a run of UK dates with Muskets this month.

Wallflower self-released their latest EP ‘Where It Fell Apart’ on vinyl last month and will be releasing the record for Cassette Store Day on a limited edition on 14th October via Hangar Records.

Brighton rockets Muskets will be releasing their debut record, ‘Chew’ on 20th October via No Sleep Records.

Movielife are going on tour!

The Long Island Rockers are now prepping for a UK tour this November plus…. support is coming from Wallflower who have just finished a UK tour opening for Milk Teeth.

The Maine Announce Lonon Support

The Maine have announced their London show supporting bands. They will be playing The Electric Ballroom with Wallflower and Guillotine on Saturday 25th March.
