Following Sell Out EU Dates, Dutch Criminal Record Return With ‘Now Or Never’

Chichester native, now Brighton based trio DUTCH CRIMINAL RECORD return with their instantly recognisable breezy, sun-soaked sophisticated-beach-indie sound on the vibrant new single ‘Now or Never’, the band’s first release of 2024 signalling a flurry of new music from the band.

Produced by Rob Quickenden alongside Dutch Criminal Record themselves, ‘Now or Never’ taps into Dutch Criminal Records signature feel good feel, vibrant melodies and buoyant, jangly guitar lines. Doused in reverb, the track delivers stylistic bittersweet lyricism to reflect against the upbeat nature of the musicality. As the track progresses it reaches an explosive climax to truly deliver on the euphoric aura the band captures.

Speaking on the track, Sam Thrussell, vocalist and writer of the track explains: “’Now or Never’ began life very differently – as a little acoustic guitar demo I made. I used a tuning that I had adapted from a John Fahey piece I was learning at the time (DGDF#AD) and was inspired by M. Ward’s ‘The First Time I Ran Away’! I showed the band and they both were adamant it could be adapted into a full band DCR tune, which is where we added the dreamy intro and the heavy (by our standards) rock out at the end! The song itself is about acknowledging your mistakes and shortcomings and hopefully becoming a better person from that as a result.”
